  I don't know how old is your laptop, but almost all older TVs have a separate channel that can be used if the external device is connected. Check your TV remote control. There must be a button with the symbol that looks like the right arrow that shows in the circle.

  I put t know what cables and what made the 5.1 support desktop theater DTT2200 but the Qosmio supports headphones with S/PDIF out.

  I use the headphone jack on my satellite to connect the unit to the stereo.
  I use a cable with a connector on one end and RCA connectors (red and white) 2 on the other end of the cable.
  The two connectors, I connected to HiFi and taking helmet.

  I think you can also try to use the same way to connect external speakers for the Qosmio.

  Have you chosen the right channel of the TV, and you enabled the S-video on the TV?

  1. attach a TV or monitor to the Qosmio G30 HDMI while both units are in a State "turned off the power.
  2. turn on the TV or monitor first and then the Qosmio G30.
  3 Qosmio G30 should automatically detect the HDMI connection and video output can be seen via HDMI to the TV or monitor.

  TV works fine with DVD through HDMI recorder.

  Dear TV, have you read what other people write here. To send the video signal to the laptop, you use VIDEO IN port. HDMI port on your laptop is probably VIDEO OUT port. Also, it cannot work.
  Read it please user manuals to see which ports are video in ports. This port allows to transfer the video signal in your laptop.

  I didn't test it with cable SCART, but I presume that you need adapter SCART to connect to your satellite receiver. Here is the image what it looks like.

  On this map, you can connect S-video cable to transfer the picture to your Qosmio. You will find on the right side for laptop S-video PORT. For sound, you can use the audio cable (red/white) with proper adapter

  As I said I n t test it until now. In any case please check manuals s user document. Maybe, you can find some useful information.

  I've had this laptop for about a year and for a large part of which I had no idea what was HDMI. Then my old TV died and I had to get a new one. In order to have my Qosmio I assumed (stupidly) - after all, it is a (relatively) new piece of equipment and has the HDDVD.   The Qosmio G30-117 model was not delivered with the HD-DVD drive, but only with the player double layer DVD Super-Multi drive (+ R) and so this laptop does not support HDMI port but only digital device on the port (d-connector).
  The other G30 with HD-DVD has been bundled with HDMI port.

  A component-D to HDMI adapter is unknown to me. But why you want to connect the HDMI laptop if the laptop does not support HD-DVD player?

  Is this correct or not? then, while typing this I learned by someone else that my laptop is not capable of receiveing SKY DIGITAl as it cannot decode or something. Is that also correct?   AFAIK if you are using an external receiver (sat receiver or even sky digital box) the laptop can bring out just what external device send to the laptop. You can connect your external case to the laptop using composite to the port (transfer of video and audio signals). After that, you can start Qosmioplayer and analyze the available channels.

  You will find a program, but the different channels, you must select the box itself. If a channel must be registered, use Qosmioplayer save option.

  The same must be possible with WMCE. I'm not 100% sure but I also think that the connection between laptop and Skype is analog.

  Sorry, but that's all I know about Qosmio. I tested it with Qosmio G20.
