How to connect remotely to Oracle Db to a network system

I am building a VB application that uses data from an Oracle Db. application works correctly on the Local host, but I need this same application on a computer on the network and connect to Oracle remotely is the problem! I used following code to connect to the same system that Oracle is installed:

Dim oradb As String = "Data Source = (DESCRIPTION ="_
+ "(ADDRESS_LIST = (ADDRESS = (PROTOCOL = TCP)(HOST=LOCALHOST) (PORT = 1521)))" _
+ "(CONNECT_DATA = (SERVER = DEDICATED)(SERVICE_NAME=ORCL)));" _ "
+ "User Id = glogo; Password = lion; »
and it works well... on a remote system, I use following code:

Dim oradb As String = "Data Source = (DESCRIPTION ="_
+ "(ADDRESS_LIST = (ADDRESS = (PROTOCOL = TCP)(HOST=*GLOGOPC*) (PORT = 1521)))" _
+ "(CONNECT_DATA = (SERVER = DEDICATED)(SERVICE_NAME=ORCL)));" _ "
+ "User Id = glogo; Password = lion; »
Where GLOGOPC is the name of the hosting system my Oracle Db. Yet, I can not connect to Oracle!
Someone HELP...

Hello

What is the specific error ORA-XXXXX you receive when it is unable to connect? This will give you the index on which parameter is incorrect. You have other machines that connect to the database even when the connection descriptor has been set using local naming resolving to a tnsnames.ora file, check that the settings in this file and validate that they are correct or contact the ADMINISTRATOR of the target database and check the host name, port and service of the target db name.

  • How to connect to an Oracle database using acrobat form field java script actions

I have a PDF template with buttons and form fields. One requirement is that when a key is pressed, I want to connect to an Oracle database to change the data of the table inside the DB.

I wrote "Mouse Up" event and set a Java script to run on this event. Java script I am trying to connect to the DB and Transact on the DB.

Any ideas how to achieve this.

    Thank you.

Assuming you are using Acrobat (or reader) XI or newer, it is no longer possible.

There used to be a way to connect to a PDF file using a script and ADBC, a DB defined locally, but Adobe removed in favour of this option progressively and now it is completely obsolete.

The only type of PDF files that can still do are those created using LiveCycle Designer.

Unless your tablet has a cable plug and/or you use a USB to Ethernet adapter or something similar - you do not use wired ethernet.

Looks like you got other issues more just your Internet and others.

First - get a decent router to go between you and the rest of the world.  The router allows separate you from other people using the same Internet Service as you have - you end up controlling the network across this competely router.  Make sure you change the router password to something good (15 + characters including at least three of the four sets of following characters: uppercase letters, lowercase letters, numbers, and symbols) and if it's a wireless router and you want to use - WPA2 with a different password in the router password itself which follows the same rules already given for a good password.

Once you have - you could probably go wireless with confidence - as long as you follow a few other common sense computing ideas.  All your accounts them should have passwords that follow the same rules already given.  Ditto for your online accounts - each of them must be changed to follow as closely as possible the rules.  You can find some web pages does not allow the 15 characters - at least try to stick with three of the four types of characters on these sites.  Make sure you have your firewall enabled on your systems - no exceptions on the firewall settings.  No third-party remote software installed if you don't need (TeamViewer, LogMeIn, etc).  A good antivirus installed software.  A good antimalware software installed (no - software antivirus and anti-malware are * still * not the same thing at the moment.)  Keep both of these updates - automatically.  Don't install things randomly on the Internet.  Do not open attachments to emails, you don't trust - and even if you do not trust - scan the attachments first.  Even with Instant Messaging.

The thing about cipher - other than to protect individual files, that you send through the Internet or to protect some files that you saved to the local system from prying eyes if they get on the local system with an account other than your (depending on your configuration) - which may not help the less than the world.

Could the firewall Windows on dbserver block 1521 maybe? If it's on, it might be useful to turn it off at least rule out it.

  • How to connect remotely to a machine that has multiple monitors (2)

I have also 2 monitors on the machine, I login since.
I can remote in the other machine and see the Office expanded (so I can control what appears on each screen)?
    To give more information:
I have a computer with 2 screens, but limited access to it.
I need distance in the computer and configure what it displays on each monitor
    THANKS in advance.

This can only be achieved with the two computers (client and host) running Windows Ultimate or business. They can be either at each end, but if you're Pro or Home it does not work by default.

  • How to connect my Time Capsule to a WiFi network?

Happily, I use a Time Capsule for years as a WiFi router connected as a bridge to the router provided by my supplier.

Now, I'm moving to a place where internet is already provided by an access point in my new apartment and included in the monthly cost of the facilities in this village. The access point is hidden behind the ceiling of my apartment and doesn't have any port ethernet except the one used to get the internet. WiFi which will be available for me is configured by an administrator with the name of my apartment.

My internet needs TC that the ethernet source and I wonder what I could do to work around this problem. I don't see any option in the settings of TC to connect to an existing WiFi.

While waiting to move to the new apartment, I did a test by trying to create a scenario similar to the House, for example by using the wifi router of my provider to create a wifi network, then using an extension of WiFi that is connected to A WiFi network and connect my TC via ethernet connected on WiFi extender set up my TC as a bridge and the creation of a WiFi B with my TC that I can use with my devices. It works fine, but I wonder if there is something I'm missing or a better solution or possible issues related to this configuration.

My internet needs TC that the ethernet source and I wonder what I could do to work around this problem.

In a Word, nothing. The TC must connect to a network by using a wired Ethernet cable connection. The only exception to this would be a Workbench where you already have a router Apple providing a wireless signal, in which case the TC can connect wireless to "extend" the network.

This is how the TC must be connected to the network of the apartment. If your extension does not work with the network of the apartment, an AirPort Express could be used to 'join' the network wireless of the apartment, and then provide an Ethernet connection to the Treasury Board.

  • How to connect my computer toshiba laptop to a stereo system

Could someone offer me please advice on how connect my laptop to a toshiba stereo system?

I think you need a RCA cable like this:

You can then use the laptop's headphone jack to connect to the stereo

  • Implementation of HP Officejet 6500 has; don't know how to connect to the web w / wireless home network

I have a small home network wireless.  I configured the printer today but it says I have to connect to the internet (part fax machine works).  The bureau only I have, I keep out of most of the time and just use my laptop (which is for work so I can't set the printer up to now).

Is it possible to connect the printer directly to my router?  They are only a few feet from one of the other; However, I have no idea how do and the instructions don't me much.  Do I need a phone line?  What can I use to connect the two?

Use an Ethernet cable, available in any tech store, online or even target will have them.

Plug it into the back of the printer and the router.  You should be able to add the printer to your laptop.  Let me know which operating system you have and I can help you.

I was wondering how you do it using the wizard/interface to specify the configurations for a NEW connection.

It comes as I get b/c I don't know where or how put '\as sysdba' in the NEW connection, that I am creating with success.  I can do very well with just to connect to the user: System, but not sysdba \as!

    Username: System

    Password: [password here]

Developer SQL has a drop down separate called 'Role', where you can select SYSDBA instead of default.

How would enable remote desktop connection and asking for help?

Do you mean on this site?  Sorry, but we don't do that.  We do not have the software required to make the connection (it's too expensive to buy personally) and even if we did we would not get in this practice.  We work by display.
