  Try another set of orders. Follow the same steps provided in my previous steps to get the command prompt. Type the following commands and press ENTER after each:

  bcdedit/set {default} partition device = c:
  bcdedit/set {default} osdevice partition = c:
  bcdedit/set {bootmgr} partition device = c:

   

  Check if you are able to boot in Windows 8.

  There is no option in Windows Media Player to convert a file format to MP4 file format as MP4 file format is not supported by Windows Media Player. The only possible solution is to use non-Microsoft program to convert a file format to MP4 file format.   You should be able to (I'm virtually certain it's possible) If you have the appropriate permissions or property rights in your Vista partition to allow access of the user of Windows7 or users of Windows7.  It's the way it works with XP and Vista and I suspect that it is essentially the same thing here.  You may need to add the users to the Vista partition/folders/files in Windows7 using regardless of their process (it varies probably Vista so I won't bother posting method Vista to do).

  The best thing to do is to follow the advice of Michael Murphy and get help from experts in the Windows7 Forums.
