  System Restore saves as many restore points as he shared.  When the allocated space fills, more older restore points are deleted to make room for the new.

  I use ATI regularly for imaging, but I have not tried what you're asking. My guess is that you can use the DVD at any time to restore the drive to the first day (factory condition). But unless you had a failure, either with the operating system or the hard drive, why would restore you the first day? I don't think that someone wakes up in the morning and say: ' Hey, I think I'll put my PC in the way it was the day I bought it, just for fun. ":-)

  I'm only theorizing here, but I would say that in the event of failure, put you in the ATI boot CD, use it to restore the recovery Partition from the DVD to the hard drive (which means probably wipe the disc in the process), reboot to the hard disk, then press what touches 'F' it to begin the action for recovery.
