How to create a shortcut on my desktop

Hi I want a shortcut on the desktop for my calendar.  How can I do this?

Do you want the date and time properties box that has the calendar inside?  If so, do the following:

  1. Right-click on the desktop
  2. New highlight
  3. Click the shortcut
  4. In the box, type timedate.cpl
  5. Click on the next button
  6. Type a name for the shortcut as calendar
  7. (Note: don't let the default name or it won't work.)
  8. Click on the Finish button

Loading of the toolbar can make the icon.

You can also make MSN Favorites page in IE - then go to your Favorites - right-click on the favorite MSN
then go to the desktop - Right Click and PASTE the SHORTCUT.

  • How to create a shortcut on the desktop?

    desktop shortcut

where can I get the shortcut on the desktop

I might have misunderstood your question entirely.

A longer sentence with a development could avoid this.

With nothing good to go on, my answer would be... you must create it.

Example: create a shortcut on the desktop of Windows Media Player...

Start button > all programs > scroll down the list to find Windows Media Player > right click it > click send to > select desktop (create shortcut).

A Windows Media Player shortcut is now on your desktop.

Not sure if I understand the problem. But here's a response to just about anything if you do a RIGHT CLICK you get a MENU list and there you should find "create shortcut". Make a LEFT CLICK and you should see it appear in the folder your in. Then if you RIGHT click ON the shortcut you can 'COPY' or 'CUT' and then do a RIGHT CLICK and 'PASTE' anywhere.

    To open windows Explorer:

Click on Start > programs > Accessories > Windows Explorer

From there, click on Workstation > C:\ > Documents and Settings > your name > Desktop

You should end up at C:\Documents and Settings\yourname\Desktop where 'yourname' is the name you signed on the computer.

  • I have more than one partition on my hard drive, how to create a shortcut to a particular drive from the desktop?

I fitted with a 1 TB drive to my macbook, then partitioned several times, all good so far, everything works.

I use two connections, staff and work. My 'work' connection I have one partitioned drive named "work" which I use as an archive / storage for all work related data, far from any current activity. How to create a shortcut for just this partition to 'work' on the desktop?

I tried Finder > Preferences > general - show these items on the desktop, hard drives of ticks. But it shows then all partitioned drives.

The partitions must be included in the side bar of the Finder to choose. You can also click with the right button on a volume and select 'add to dock '. I don't know how to add an alias on the desktop.
