How to create a shortcut to desktop on Windows 7, like I did in Windows XP?

In XP Pro, I created a shortcut on the desktop and pinned it to the toolbar. He was terribly helpful because I had several shortcuts on my desktop I've used often throughout each day. If I could remember how I created the shortcut to the desktop in XP Pro I could figure out how do it again to 7, but which is perhaps where I'm stuck - I don't remember. Perhaps the first question is whether a shortcut on the desktop can be created and pinned to the toolbar in 7? So if it's possible, how do we? All suggestions, ideas and comments that all care to offer will be greatly appreciated. Thanks, K.

I fitted with a 1 TB drive to my macbook, then partitioned several times, all good so far, everything works.

I use two connections, staff and work. My 'work' connection I have one partitioned drive named "work" which I use as an archive / storage for all work related data, far from any current activity. How to create a shortcut for just this partition to 'work' on the desktop?

I tried Finder > Preferences > general - show these items on the desktop, hard drives of ticks. But it shows then all partitioned drives.

If you have a program in the start menu. All programs, (some other places as well), just: right-click | Send to | Desktop (create shortcut).

For a Web site, save in my favorites first. Then, just left-click on it and drag it to the desktop or the taskbar.

  • How to create a shortcut for all users during installation

    Hi people,

We have a desktop application that is distributed with Java Webstart and works on Win7 machines. Initially, users all connected using a connection by default, so creating shortcuts was not a problem. Now, because of new networking strategies, each user has his own connection.

The problem is that the shortcut to the application is created in the user profile (for example "C:\Users\JohnDoe\", so that other users in the same machine can not run the application unless he or she installs the application again.)

Is there a way to create this shortcut for all users using JNLP API or configuration in the xml file?

If anyone has need of the solution: during installation I save the jnlp file in a directory accessible to all the world and then start the application using "javaws path\to\file.jnlp". Anyone have any suggestions on how to create a shortcut to toggle the USB audio device in Device Manager?

A shortcut is to enable this device, and the other shortcut is disable this device.

    Thanks for all the suggestions

    Hi oem7110,

    · Why you want to create a shortcut to enable or disable an audio device from Device Manager?

You will be able to create the shortcut to Device Manager but no shortcut to enable/disable a device in Device Manager:

    a. right-click on the space empty where you want to create a shortcut

    b. click the shortcut

    c. in the type of space empty in devmgmt.msc

    d. click Next and follow the instructions in the wizard.

  • How to create a tile of charms in Windows 8

I am a user centered on the mouse on my laptop. The screen is not touch sensitive. It is too big. I like the flow when I can point and click. The action of 'slide' with the mouse is not natural. I also have a monitor extended to my right and that gets in the way suddenly. So, I would like to create a shortcut to the charm of the 'search' and the other to the sidebar of charm and the two pins for my bar page and start task.

How can I do this? Where are exe files for which I have to create shortcuts?

    Thank you.

PS: I have already created shortcuts for shutdown and hibernation.

    Stu4948,

You are genius, can share you how you created these shortcuts for shutdown and hibernation.
While I know, I don't know where and what is the Windows Shell file to search for, but I know that the shortcut key for the search.

  • How to create a shortcut on the desktop to msn

I'm doing new Vista loaded as user friendly than our previous XP.  Need help to create a shortcut on the desktop to msn, so everything we need to do is click the butterfly icon to connect.  Also need to know how to download the msn toolbar.  Thank you!

    Hello

    MSN toolbar
    http://www.Microsoft.com/toolbar/

Loading of the toolbar can make the icon.

If you wish to make your homepage of MSN, and then when IE is started it will take you to MSN.

You can also make MSN Favorites page in IE - then go to your Favorites - right-click on the favorite MSN
then go to the desktop - Right Click and PASTE the SHORTCUT.

    I hope this helps.

  • How to create a shortcut on the desktop?

    desktop shortcut

where can I get the shortcut on the desktop

I might have misunderstood your question entirely.

A longer sentence with a development could avoid this.

With nothing good to go on, my answer would be... you must create it.

Example: create a shortcut on the desktop of Windows Media Player...

Start button > all programs > scroll down the list to find Windows Media Player > right click it > click send to > select desktop (create shortcut).

A Windows Media Player shortcut is now on your desktop.

    Hello

Thanks for posting your query in Microsoft Community.

According to the description, it seems that you want to create a shortcut to the Windows community on the desktop. Correct me if I misunderstood the question.

    (1) what do you mean by Windows community? Microsoft Community are you referring?

If so, I suggest you follow the steps to create a shortcut to the site and check out:

    (a) open the Web sites.

    (b) copy the link, right-click on the desktop and select new , and then click shortcut.

    (c) Paste the link in the shortened window then click Next and type a name for the shortcut.

    (d) click Finish.

I hope this helps. Try the above steps and get back to us for further assistance if you have questions about the Windows operating system. We will be happy to help you.

What kind of shortcut?  FWIW I just click right on my desk, new > shortcut and it gives then the shortcut Wizard:

    cmd.exe /c echo hi & pause

    Then he called Test.

It seems even easier that I remember XP.   For example do a right click of my new Test shortened reminds the complexity that someone just starting to create a shortcut could face.
