    People,

    Hello. I'm under VMPlayer 3. My OS is Windows 7 and the guest operating system is Windows XP.

    Because the virtual guest OS Windows XP hard drive is full, I need to decompress. http://wmtoolkit.com/files/folders/converters/entry87.aspx does not work.

    My question is:

    Can any folk provide a link to download VHD Resizer for guest Windows XP and Windows 7 host?

    Thanks in advance.

    First of all, is correct install VHD resizer in Windows 7 operating system and not guest OS Windows XP host?

    No it should not be installed in any to resize a VMware virtual hard drive.  The .vhd file extension is used with Microsoft virtulazition no VMware. (Does not mean a .vhd cannot be used, as it can however it not typical.)

    Secondly, what file is selected to resize?

    None like which is not how a VMware virtual disk gets developed from the interface of VMware Player!

    Resize a virtual hard drive via the VMware Player GUI is done using the Expand command on the Utilities menu, when you select the virtual hard disk under settings of the virtual machine on the material tab

    Suggest you only look in the help file in VMware Player!    VMware Player 3.x menu > help > Help topics > use of disks and drives > Virtual Machine disk storage > parameters of the hard disk to the virtual disks

    Once the disc has been extended then the virtual partition to be resized and Andre, I like to use GParted Live ISO Image.

    Thirdly, why no unoccupied hard disk in the virtual Windows XP computer after resizing settings completed?

    Not sure what you mean by "why no empty disc ', 'unoccupied '?  Screenshot of the Hardware tab for the target VM THAT could help explain what you mean by 'unoccupied '.  However if you try to resize a VMware virtual hard drive in VMware Player 3.x then extend the disk in the virtual machine settings, then use info to the link provided by André in the first reply in this thread!

    Here's a good. I want to uninstall my Windows 8 Pro upgrade, reinstall my original Windows 7 and then reinstall my Windows 8 Pro update. My product key will still work on Windows 8 Pro upgrade? My reason for this? I want to retrieve all of my software that came with my computer, when it was new. I have the disc, but also the keys. Also, if someone could walk me through the steps I sure would appreciate it. That is to say: "where should I start and how? Please, I beg you. I don't want to not update my Windows 8 Pro that is not my goal! My goal is to put back my original software on my computer that I lost (my ignorance) during the upgrade. All the software is on the recovery disk of I purchased from Acer. All I really need to know is if my product key for Windows 8 Pro that I bought in shop Windows will be valid. If someone can just answer, I would love!
    Thank you

    Hello

    You don't need to uninstall anything... Just boot with the disk #1 you have purchased from Acer...

    You may have you press a key at startup to start the process, but probably not...

    You may also delete the partitions on the HARD disk with a bootable 3rd party program, but probably not...

    The way these types of sets of discs work normally is that they write more everything on the HARD drive and restore it to its State 'as new '...

    You should not have more problems with the upgrade process, you had the first time...

  • How can I tell what version of Windows my Win7 upgrade copy corresponds to?

    A few years back, one of my friends gave me his old computer running Windows 7.  I just had to replace the motherboard and processor on it, and when I went to reinstall Windows, I learned that the CD Win7 key he had corresponded to a Windows 7 upgrade version.  From what I could tell, I need to install an older version of Windows first, and then use the upgrade CD to return to Win7.  I installed Windows XP Home Edition and I tried, but the CD Win7 said that I had the wrong version of Windows to upgrade.  I installed Windows Vista and got the same thing.  How can I tell what version of Windows my Win7 update of that CD will modernize?

    Looks like the copy of Windows 7, you were trying to install from Windows XP Home Edition is a 64-bit version.

    You will need to boot from the DVD 64 bit Windows 7:

    Boot from the Windows 7 DVD

    To learn how to change your BIOS options to boot from the DVD drive, the following tutorial:
    http://notebooks.com/2011/05/05/How-to-load-BIOS-and-change-boot-configuration/

    Click Install now
    Accept the license agreement
    When the option is displayed to select a type of installation, click (Custom advanced)

    Select the disk partition where you want to install Windows 7 click Next.

    You will receive the following warning:

    The partition you have selected may contain files from a previous Installation of Windows. If so, these files and folders will be moved to a folder named Windows.old. You will be able to access the information in Windows.old, but you will be able to use your previous version of Windows.

    (At all costs, do NOT click on anything in Format, deletion or Partition name.) So even do a custom installation, your personal files are still kept. Click OK

    The installation program will now begin installation. During installation, your computer will be restarted several times.

    Once the installation is complete, you can complete the Out of Box experience as the choice of your laptop, create a username, password, your time zone. You can then proceed to download the latest updates for Windows and reinstall your applications and drivers.

    You can then retrieve your personal files from the Windows.old folder and reinstall all of your applications and drivers.

  • How to recover the Windows Vista operating system on laptop

    Programs must be reinstalled from the original media: CD, DVD, etc..

    Save your data on external hard drive, Flash drive, etc...

    Vista recovery media obtain and/or use the Partition Recovery Vista on your computer to the factory settings .

    There is no Vista free download legal available.

    Contact your computer manufacturer and ask them to send a recovery disk/s Vista set.

    Normally, they do this for a cost of $ small.

    ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
    In addition, ask them if you have a recovery Partition on your computer/laptop to restore it to factory settings.
    See if a manual provided with the computer or go to the manufacturer's website, email or you can call for information on how to make a recovery.
    Normally, you have to press F10 or F11 at startup to start the recovery process...
    Another way I've seen on some models is press F8 and go to a list of startup options, and launch a recovery of standards of plant with it, by selecting the repair option.
    ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~

    Also ask them if it is possible to do the recovery disk/s for the recovery Partition in case of a system Crash or hard drive failure.

    They will tell you how to do this.

    Every computer manufacturer has their own way of making recovery disk/s.

    ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
    Or borrow a good Microsoft Vista DVD (not Dell, HP, Acer, recovery disk/s etc).
    A good Vista DVD contains all versions of Vista.
    The product key determines which version of Vista is installed.
    There are 2 disks of Vista: one for 32-bit operating system, and one for 64-bit operating system.
    If install a cleaning is required with a good DVD of Vista (not HP, Dell recovery disks):
    At the startup/power on you should see at the bottom of the screen either F2 or DELETE, go to Setup/Bios or F12 for the Boot Menu
    Go to your Bios/Setup, or the Boot Menu at startup and change the Boot order to make the DVD/CD drive 1st in the boot order, then reboot with the disk in the drive.
  • Can I recover my old version of windows on the computer and use it on my old laptop?
    Original title: windows 8.
    Last year, I bought a new desktop computer Acer with windows 8 and installed my windows professional 8.1 on it!
    My question is! can I recover my old version of windows on the computer and use it on my old laptop because it was purchased with this PC AND how I to get it back?
    I am braking the rules by doing this? the original key was included with the purchase of my new Acer and I should be able to pick it up and install it on another device?
    If I can't, I'll have to buy a new one to upgrade my old windows laptop 7. I'm trying to save money! That's why I ask this question.
    Roger
    No, you cannot transfer the original license that is pre-installed on your Acer, it relates to it because it is an OEM license.
    The OEM of Windows 8 versions are identical to the versions commercial full license with the following exception:
    -OEM versions don't offer any free direct support from Microsoft technical support Microsoft
    -OEM Licenses are tied to the computer first you install and activate it on
    -OEM versions allow all hardware upgrades except for an upgrade to a different model motherboard
    -OEM versions does not move directly from an older Windows operating system
    What is OEM software? :
  • How findout if all the partitions have been deleted and now a laptop that has Windows 8 operating system using Windows Vista with a shell IE 9?
    I bought a laptop broken at a friend's House. It is not used for the operating system windows 8 and wanted to use the Windows Vista operating system. Son of friends put in place this laptop for it, which was new when she bought in a retail store. Is there a way I can find out whether all the partitions have been deleted during the installation of Vista? I still see window 8 logo that I sign as an administrator user on this laptop.
    When I log on this computer, the previous owner of the screen name is the only one that appears. I go in Control Panel, click Add another account, then I see the screen name I posted. I could use the WiFi from my PC at home that Win 7 OS.
    When I started working with the laptop, I was able to bring control of the camera. Now I thought that the version that I use does not allow this operation. Be happy with any Positive help with my problems.
    Hello
    Start > type CMD
    Right click on CMD and select run as administrator
    Type diskmgmt.msc
    Press enter
    This opens where you can view the partitions on the disk management system
    Who has installed Windows Vista, your son or friend?  Fact that they create a dual boot environment or reformat?
    http://www.technorms.com/8438/Windows-8-create-hard-drive-partition
    Multibooting requires separate partitions on the hard drive of your computer for each operating system.  To create and format a partition, see create and format a hard disk partition.
    To check if a dual boot system in place, start > Type msconfig
    Click on the Startup tab
    You see two operating systems listed?  Windows 8, Windows Vista
    http://www.groovypost.com/HOWTO/Microsoft/Vista/how-to-change-default-OS-for-dual-boot-system/
    I think that Windows 8 has the following partitions
    400 MB Partition Recovery (contains recovery information dated from before my upgrade)
    • 300 MB EFI System Partition
    • 350 MB Partition Recovery (contains information for recovery of my upgrade)
    • 17 GB Partition Recovery
    • 220 GB of Partition primary
    Windows Vista has drive C and drive D
    Done reformatting refers to a hard disk or partition that already has been formatted or that contains data on it. Reformatting a disk deletes all the data on the disk.
