How to disable SSLv2 on Snow Leopard Server?

Because of the possibility of to DROWN-attack I want to disable SSLv2 on my Snow Leopard Server (10.6.8).

Did anyone here who can tell me how to disable SSLv2?

Install a new version of OpenSSL would be nice too, but I don't know how?

Thank you for your help,

Peter.

Hi again!

Here is the solution. :-)

What you have to do is change your main.cf and disabel SSLv2 (SSLv3) and for Apache2 httpd.conf file.

1. go to/etc/postfix and open the main.cf

2. Add the following lines

smtpd_tls_mandatory_protocols =! SSLv2! SSLv3

smtp_tls_mandatory_protocols =! SSLv2! SSLv3

smtp_tls_protocols =! SSLv2! SSLv3

smtpd_tls_protocols =! SSLv2! SSLv3

3. save the main.cf

4. do/etc/apache and open httpd.conf

5. search for the SSL stuff

Add the following line:

All - SSLv2 SSLv3 SSLProtocol

6. restart your server to make active changes

  • How to mount an external drive in Snow Leopard Server VM

I've created a Snow Leopard Server VM running in my office of Lion native.  I would like to run the migration wizard on an external drive of Snow Leopard to migrate a lot of user data and applications (a snow leopard to be precise user account).  I can't find a way to mount the external hard drive in the virtual machine.  Should I create a disk image of this external hard drive, or something to get there?  Anyone tried this?

I guess an external USB drive?   Can't redirect the USB device to your virtual machine?

    Hi Bill,

You should be able to install and configure 10.6.3 on the Core 2 Duo Mac Mini.  If you were to then move it as-is on the MBP, it fails at startup in the same way that you see with the installation program now... however... If, although the host of Core 2 Duo, you apply each update is available via software update, turn off the prompt, then move it into the Core i7, there is a good chance that it will work (I think 10.6.8 supports your Core i7 CPU)...  Definitely worth a shot.

    See you soon,.

  • How to disable SSLv2 in Oracle IAS 10.1.3

How to disable SSLV2 in Oracle IAS 10.1.3... I added below in the .conf file... But it does not work...

    SSLProtocol-ALL SSLv3 TLSv1
All SSLCipherSuite!: aNULL:! ADH:! eNULL:! BASS:! EXP:RC4 + RSA: + HIGH: + MEDIUM

    Thank you
    Lalitha

How can you have WebCache if you using 10.1.3 version?

The cause of this problem has been identified and verified in a new Bug 4761833 : "IE FAILS to WEBCACHE VIA SSL CONNECTION IF SSLV2.0 IS NOT SELECTED".

By default, Webcache sets its SSL_ENABLED parameter in webcache.xml to: SSLV3_V2H
This supports only SSL V2.0 and SSLV3.0 and not TLSV1.0

When IE connects with: SSL 2.0, SSLV3.0, TLSV1.0 all checked, Ethereal smell shows:
    SSLv2 Hello customer
    SSLv3 Server Hello

When IE connects with: SSLV3.0, TLSV1.0 checked, SSL v2.0 unchecked, shows an ethereal odor:
    TLSV1 Hello customer
SSLv3 Alerter (level: Fatal, Description: unexpected Message)

When is Firefox a link with SSLV3.0, TLSV1.0 checked, SSL v2.0 unchecked an Ethereal
    sniff the shows:
    SSLv2 Hello customer
    SSLv3 Server Hello

So even if SSLV2.0 is not checked it always makes the initial Client Hello via SSLV2.0 so why Mozilla works

The reason why IE fails when SSLV2.0 is not checked is Always uses what he considers the best protocol and takes TLSV1.0, and default parameter SSL_ENABLED in Webcache does not support TLS V1.0, then it fails.

    Solution
To implement the solution, perform the following steps:

    1. change the $ORACLE_HOME/webcache/webcache.xml
For the SSL listen entry, for example:

    Change:
    'SSLV3_V2H '.
    TO
    "SSL".

    2. save the file and restart webcache and then test, you can access Webcache via SSL with uncontrolled SSLV2.0

    Hope this helps

    Kind regards.

  • His guest of Snow Leopard Server in Fusion 7 in Yosemite?

Sorry if this has been addressed elsewhere. I have found some answers to Fusion 4, but didn't work for me. The problem is that I seem to be able to get a sound of a new Snow Leopard Server virtual machine.

I tried of course to add the audio card in the virtual machine in Fusion settings, but nothing helped. Install the EnsoniqAudioPCI_v1.0.3_Common_Installer.pkg in the guest does not have anything either. My procedure was perhaps wrong? Can someone explain what are the specific steps and/or downloads should be done to a guest of Snow Leopard Server have sound?

    Thank you.

Some good news, Woody and all. I just recreated the Snow Leopard Server 64-bit) virtual machine from scratch with VMware Fusion 7.0.1 (after adding the virtual Hardware Sound Card before installing the guest operating system). After installing the VMware Tools and restart, I installed the driver Ensoniq restarted 1.0.3 and, as was to be expected, no sound. Then I turned off the VM, then I open the vmx with Text Edit file and deleted the line incriminated who supposedly provided hdaudio to the guest OS. I saved the file and rebooted the computer virtual and boom! Sound œuvres.

    Thanks to you all.

Running Fusion 6.0.2 Mavericks 10.9.1.  I use photoshop CS 2 OS snow Leopard Server 10.6.8 comments.  The software seems to work ok.  Currently, fusion can run on one screen at a time, which is fine, but only 1024 x 768.  Snow Leopard Server recognizes a GPU PCI with 3 MB of RAM in the System Profiler. Did you manually install VMWare tools in the comments?

  • Cannot install on Fusion 5 comments of Snow Leopard Server.

I just got my new shiny Server Snow Leopard 10.6.3 DVD from Apple (Yes, it was $19.99 and I got on the phone, the operator of chat on the apple online store did know about this).

I downloaded the trial version of vmware fusion 5.0.2 and tried to install. He always stops raise a screen saying:

    INSTALLATION FAILED

Mac OS X could not be installed on your computer

Setup failed to copy the required support files.

Click on restart to restart your computer and try to reinstall.

I tried several times. I thought that maybe something my old installation of VMware Fusion 2 created problems, so I followed the instructions to the 1017838 of the knowledge base article to uninstall everything. I deleted the app, even my old virtual machines. The first time I did that I must have missed something, because when I tried to install fusion 5 new he already knew my trial license key. So I went all uninstall - reinstall procedure more 2 times, restarting the computer between each course.

Anyway installed snow leopard server on fusion 5 has?

Advice appreciated. I need this facility for an older application that requires rosetta and this hack seems to be the only way I can get it.

Either way, my host is a 5,1 Macbook running Mountain Lion. 8 GB of ram, 100 GB of free disk space.

    Thank you.

Hi cmwoodand welcome to the VMware communities!

We had a few reports that the disk of the server Snow Leopard 10.6.3 triggers a problem with merging and direct access to the physical disk.  If they send 10.6.3 media for this crazy business of $20, I suspect we'll see more of these problems...

You should be able to work around it using disk utility on your host to make an image of Mac OS X install disk, and then attach the disk image of the virtual machine and install by whom.  (When you use disk utility, make sure that you select the drive of optical disc as the source of the image, not the media named "Mac OS X Server".)  If you picture the bad thing, your VM won't boot past the Apple logo.)

    See you soon,.

  • Cannot write to Snow Leopard server to Windows XP

OK - my set-up is the following - I have a Mac with VMware fusion where I do most of my work on the side of Windows XP.  Recently, I added a mac mini Snow Leopard server so that a group of us can access the files, and my mac is connected to it through sharing.  On the side of windows XP, the server is mapped and I can open the files it contains, but when I try to save or delete whatever it is, it won't let me.  It's as if I was a user who had read but not write privileges.  The problem is that I don't remember connect you, so I think that he mapped automatically, so access is here to look at the files, but when it comes to writing, the server does not recognize the user and block the change.

I hope the above makes sense.  I guess I could establish a VPN connection and get out and return this way, but it seems rather ineffective.  If anyone has an easier solution, it would be much appreciated!

    Thanks in advance

Have you tried to disconnect the mapped drive, then remapping using the option 'connect under a different name' on the map network drive window?

  • You can import users of snow leopard server in el capitan Server

I have a client with a server on Snow Leopard (10.6).  It has never been updated so far.  Can I export the users and groups in Workgroup Manager, and then import them directly into the server of El Capitan?

Yes.  You can do it three ways.  The first is to export the flat files by using the export of managers of the working group.  You can do this for users and groups.  The point here is that you don't have passwords.  Flat files will not flat files password export as plain text.  However, export of Workgroup Manager can give you more data you want to import into a new system as the MCX is discouraged.  You can use dsexport instead.  Using dsexport allows you to exclude attributes that you cannot be postponed.  The third way is to export an archive Open Directory.  An archive is a DMG file password which will include passwords, but also all of the stuff that you can't move protected.  In Admin Server on the 10.6 machine go to the archive and export an archive of OD.  This method may not be perfect, but if you must keep the UID and GUID values such as password, an archive of the AO is the best method.  But, be prepared for oddities as there is a lot of distance between 10.6 and 10.11.

  • No copy/paste with VMWare 6.0.2 (on the Mavericks 10.9.2) of the Snow Leopard Server 10.6.8?

I'm running the free demo for 30 days of VMware. Will buy if working copy (of the text).

    Everything else is remarkable!

I checked the 'preference enable Mac OS keyboard shortcuts host.

    I restarted the emulated system.

I can't copy and paste to work.

I see that others seem to have 'lost' copy/paste when the upgrade to the Mavericks 10.9.2 (which I have),

or upgraded their VMWare to 6.0.2 (which is all I ever had).

Although I bypassed the Mavericks, as well as the Lion and Mountain Lion; jump directly from 10.6.8 to 10.9.2.

I guess the free version of VMware of full of features and has not paralyzed cut / paste.

No idea what could be the problem?

What you download is fully functional version that technically it is there no trial version!  The only thing different between what you downloaded and what is bought is the license.

Have you installed VMware Tools in the comments?

What VMware Fusion 6.0.3 is available for download, you can always try this one.

  • Please help with how to copy iMac CS3 (Snow Leopard) to MacBook Air (Mavericks)

I have a desktop Mac in 2006 with the suite CS3 on it.  Still, I have drives for more and would like to move my MacBook air.  I tried to copy the Photoshop file, but that did not work. Is there an easy way to migrate these files from one mac to another?  My MacBook Air doesn't have a DVD player. Ideally, I would like to have these files on both computers, I believe that you can have your programs purchased on 2 computers.  Someone at - it a simple and fast to get there way?

Never, never the migration. CS installs is 'Specific to the Machine', you break allowed it.

Go here: products CS3 download and download the installer for your suite on your new Mac.

  • How to partition Snow Leopard on an iMac running El Capitan

    Hello

I would like to ask if anyone knows the best way to go about adding Snow Leopard as a partition to an end i7 model 2015 iMac. I need to run Photoshop CS3 and use an Epson R2400 printer. None of them are compatible with El Capitan.

I read that the partitioning may be an option, but I'm not very computer savvy so I'm having a hard time with google search information that seems contradictory. Ideally, I would like to be able to access the Snow Leopard or El Cap without having to restart. I have a copy of Snow Leopard if a partition is going to work, but some internet advice leads me to believe that I might need to buy Snow Leopard Server and run VMware Fusion, which I'm not familiar with. Any advice would be greatly appreciated. If I left out any information that would be useful to determine the best route, please let me know. Thank you very much!

On the model of Mac, you must run the Snow Leopard Server emulation; It is too recent to boot Snow Leopard.
