How to display NULL value first in a result

Hi all

I have this simple query:
SELECT NULL as pay_period
FROM DUAL
UNION
SELECT DISTINCT pay_period
FROM period_table
All I want to do is display the value NULL value before everything else. I tried to do the sorting and all I could think about, but it did not work. Any ideas?

Expected results:

{null}
1
2
3
4
5
etc...
SQL> select null from dual

  • How to display a value of transitional attribute to column db entity column?

    Mr President

    How to display a value of transitional attribute to column db entity column?

    I have the requirement to indicate a value of transitional attribute column in the column db entity for some reason any.

    Any body can help as my show in the picture below

    The StAmt is a transitional column and a column db of the entity.

    tworows.png

    Any body can help please. !

    Concerning

    This means that the amount to be the attribute will always has the same value of the transient attribute? If so, why do you want the amount attribute the transient attribute is sufficient?

    Anyway, if you want to get attribute data in attribute transitional amounts you can open class ViewRowImpl and appearing in the getter or amount, you can get the value in the transitional as attribute:

      public Number getAmount()
      {
        return getTransientAttribute();
        //return (Number) getAttributeInternal(AMOUNT);
      }

    in this case, the quantity data store database will not appear on the table it will still get the transitional attribute data and it's meaningless.

  • How to display Quick values in the story

    With the help of 11.1.1.6.2

    In a dashboard page, I have a table with a hierarchy of dimension for the organization. If you click on a division he runs a link action to call a script in the browser (javascript in a text on the dashboard section) from the division. If you expand the section, and then click on a market, it calls the function javascript even.

    Then, the Javascript function uses path go to update an analysis in an iFrame on the dashboard page and passes the value of the Division or the market value.

    The analysis of the target has two filters: Division is invited and the market is invited.

    So, after all, my question is how could display two values from the call of the road go into a narrative on the analysis of the target? Or I guess the other question is how to view the filter on the narrative values.

    Sorry for the long explanation, but I hope it makes sense.

  • How to exclude null values?

    Hello
    How to exclude null values when populating a temporary table?

    Thank you
    Sollier

    Hi, Sollier,

    It depends on.
    Maybe

    WHERE   coloumn_a  IS NOT NULL

    If you need help, post a small example of data (CREATE TABLE and INSERT statements) and the results that you want from these data (in this case, the content of the table is filled).

    Insert ex1 (null).

    insert into ex1 (e)

    It depends on what you expect. If you issue count (*) you ask Oracle "how many lines there. If you issue a County () you ask Oracle 'how non null values for are there. "

    delete from
    where  is null;

    Ideally you would simply place a NOT NULL constraint on the column in question, thus prohibiting NULL values into the system (assuming that your business needs, it is that the column MUST always have a value).

    If this field does not always reach the sum, and then returns a NULL value. I need it to return 0 instead, but I think I'm this overload since RTF are not flexible.

    I tried to reach '+ 0' at the end and it works when its null, but if the number is not null, then it adds a 0 to the result rather than adding it.

  • Bar chart stacked - strange behavior on display null values

    Hi all

    I'm trying to graph a county of the end dates of the activities over several years by months grouped by project.

    The problem I have is that there is a gap of 3 months where none of the activities that I am tracking complete. The default value for the stacked bar chart is to ignore the columns with no data (in my case it October-December 2015).

    To view these any given month I went to properties graphic and ticked the box "Include Null values. At this point, I get a very strange behavior. Once this option is selected, the legend explodes, showing each project in the database regardless if it meets my criteria for analysis.

    Has anyone another considering that happen? I'm doing something wrong?

    If it's important I'm in the OBI 11.1.1.7.150120

    Thank you for your help,

    Kevin Wolfe

    Hello

    You have a filter on the list of projects you want to see?

    Based on the way you describe your analysis I guess you don't have any what filter on the list of projects, but some of the filters on the other dimensions/attributes and these filters were limiting the list of projects.

    If this is the case then what you see is not a weird behavior, but everything you've asked your analysis.

    "Include null values" is not limited to the time dimension, it fits any dimension of your analysis, so no filter on projects = all projects.

    OAMessageTextInputBean oa = (OAMessageTextInputBean) webBean.findChildRecursive ("ItemNo");
    oa.setAttributeValue (SItemNo);

    There is no such method as setAttributeValue for UI beans, this method is for VO, that is to say if you take a VO and VO a method object to set its attribute.

    Bean of the user interface, you will need to use method below,

    OAMessageTextInputBean oa = (OAMessageTextInputBean)webBean.findChildRecursive("ItemNo");
    oa.setValue(pageContext,SItemNo);

    Hello

    It's funny, I never thought of parsing an XML through SQL * Loader before.

    Are you aware of the XML DB features? They are intended only for what you are doing here.

    Also, please look at function XMLTable. It allows you to directly map your XML file in columns and relational rows.

    For example, by giving an example of file "book.xml" like this:

      1
      2
      ABC
      DEF

      1
      3
      XYZ
      TTT

    Then, just do:

    SELECT *
    FROM XMLTable(
     '/GL_RECS/GL_REC'
     passing xmltype( bfilename('XML_DIR','book.xml'), nls_charset_id('CHAR_CS') )
     columns
      status varchar2(50) path 'STATUS',
      ledger_id varchar2(15) path 'LEDGER_ID',
      segment1 varchar2(25) path 'SEGMENT1',
      segment2 varchar2(25) path 'SEGMENT2'
    );

  • NULL value in the print result

    I run a SELECT statement on the form below:

    SELECT col1 |' | ' || col2 |' | ' || COL3

    TABLE;

    It gives me the following outprint, which is what I need

    col1 | col2. col3

    VARCHAR2. number | VARCHAR2

    The problem is when col2 returns a NULL value, then I get this:

    VARCHAR2. VARCHAR2

    When what I want is this:

    VARCHAR2. (null) | VARCHAR2

    Is it possible to get my results of the query to print the value NULL (null)?

    I tried the function NVL NVL (col2, 'null'), but it won't work because there is a mismatch on data types. I can get the NULL value, printed by concatenating don't not columns and save results to csv, but that does not give me the formatting that I want.

    You can convert the character number column, and then look for the NVL.

    See below:

    with data as
    (
      select 'col1' col1, 1 col2, 'col3' col3 from dual union all
      select 'col1' col1, null col2, 'col3' col3 from dual
    )
    select col1 || '|' || nvl(to_char(col2), 'null') || '|' || col3
      from data;

    COL1||'|'||NVL(TO_CHAR(COL2),'NULL')||'|'||COL3
