Sound devices: a disaster of misorganization and incompetence

Using XP Pro, SP3. I use Skype and Gmail to talk online.  I have a couple of options different microphone (USB and normal) and 2 different output options.  Switching between these 2 options for the input and the output should be an easy task, even for Microsoft.  Its just one or the other.  How difficult could it get?  Yet the levels change, change settings, options of no entry from me.  Its absolutely mind-boggling how a system could be designed with such total contempt for the user.  You go to sounds in the control panel and the options are dispersed in any place.  You have Volume, Audio and voice.  There is an Advanced tab in the Volume that suddenly gray out when I use a different output.  This is where you can turn off the microphone.  Therefore one impact on the other.  Stupid how?  In Audio, you have a Volume tab which seems to do the same.  Unnecessary redundancy.  But if my other output is selected the mic goes away one of the options.  It is an output - yet it replaces an entry.  Dumbest design.  Then we go to the vote.  The output it can be different.  So who's priority?  I think that once I've selected an audio output and press on apply it would show in her voice.  But none.  In addition, sometimes the microphone is cut off for no reason.  Then his food back then it must be cut, but it is sometimes impossible to control when the bad output is selected. See how much fun can be a bad design?

Its like this program has been designed by different people, do not all communicating with each other, each doing their own thing, not think about the other parts of the system.  At first, I thought it was my own lack of experience, but after several days with different programs to play with this disaster, I now know it is as I suspected initially: a design nightmare.  One of the poorest Microsoft designs ever.

In addition to all mechanically and saw only one entry and exit which sees this stupid computer, is there another way to do this work?  Most people need this document fall within these parameters:

2 MIC OPTIONS: close the beach or the entire piece (speaker), USB or analog.  The microphone of the range could be managed by the webcam microphone.

3 OUTPUT OPTIONS: speakers, headphones (for audio), helmet (to wear them long, cool comfort and a short-range, anti-noise microphone).

There must be a better way than Microsoft's convoluted design.  It would be great to have their word and output selections managed by keyboard shortcuts.

If the software is not available, then you need a box mechanical, inputs/outputs, placed right next to your keyboard.  It is probably the most sensible solution, except for additional wiring and the cost of doing because he sure doesn't seem to be anything on the market right now remotely meet these needs.  Which seems very strange that most used his computer for audio chat and everyone knows that a helmet is better to let the room know what the other person is saying if you use speakers.  People who use a headset with their cell phone bluetooth could find that works well on their computer.

Hello

If you go in both sense between the two programs, which can be attributed to volume adjustments because each would also have their own levels of volume etc.  I suggest that you test both for the same settings and see if there is a difference.

Thanks to each of you for your comments; I was able to configure my devices according to the needs.

You should be able to use two sound devices.  With a little trial and error, I was able to configure my applications using sound as I would like.

First, I open sounds and Audio devices in Control Panel.  From there I click on the Hardware tab, high-lighted one of my sound devices and selected properties, selected the tab properties, on the next screen, exploded devices Audio, top-lit audio device, selected properties one last time and checked the Do not map through this box of the device.  By clicking on OK or apply will inform you that the changes will not take effect until your next restart of Windows.  OK, that box, OK the Properties tab and select the Audio tab.  On the bottom of drop for sound playback and sound recording choose the audio device for this feature.  Make sure the down - use only default devices - check box IS NOT CHECKED.  In the voice tab, do the same (no checkbox here, however).  OK on the sound and Audio Devices Properties sheet, reboot and you should be good to go.

    Kind regards

    Mike J.

    Try:

    1. pair an inexpensive connection of headphones in the speaker of your DELL outlet and see if the problem improves.
    2. connect your Dell speakers to another compatible audio device to verify that the speakers are not defective.

    Hi Pretzilz,

I don't know if you're still looking for an answer to this problem, but I think I solved it!

I am running Windows 7 Ultimate and I had installed Norton Internet Security 2010.  I decided to uninstall it after that trial was up and try Norton Antivirus instead.  I had also used the Norton Removal Tool and then these mysterious sounds "device could not connect" that occur at the start of my computer, just after the Office responsible.  He was literally driving me crazy because this is a brand new computer that should work just fine for most.

So I investigated further after reading your post on the errors of the device, and I decided to take a peek in my "devices and printers" and "Device Manager ' screens."  Of course, the old screen claimed that my 'Ultrafast media player' and 'USB2.0CRW' required for troubleshooting (a small yellow sign).  I tried the troubleshooting through this screen, but to no avail.

I went into Device Manager"through and under"Portable devices"my previously assigned different five of card readers had in small panel yellow symbols on them.  I went into the Properties window for each, and it says the following:

Windows cannot start this hardware device because its information of configuration (in the registry) is incomplete or damaged. (Code 19)

Apparently, the Norton Removal Tool damaged my registry.  So I called my Alienware support people, and while they had me waiting a solution, I found a Microsoft Windows support article, which actually worked:

    http://TechNet.Microsoft.com/en-us/library/cc772156 (WS.10) .aspx

I went to each player who was in trouble on the Device Manager, click right on it, uninstalled, and then scanned for changes to hardware and the OS found once again, not reinstalled, no problem.  I rebooted the computer just to make sure and voila.  No sounds more mystery.

Oh - and I heard a total of five beeps at startup, but I have five disks pre-assigned.  I guess you hear three beeps, because you probably three drives.  I hope this works.

  • BlackBerry Z10 Z10 "Please wait while your device is the software update and restart"

Sorry if this question has been asked elsewhere but I searched and could not find an answer the applies to my particular situation.

I have a Z10 on Bell who got an automatic update this morning (I have no note of my operating system version number or the version that I was updating to) and the phone is locked to the prompt "Please wait while your device is the software update and restart."  Update messages said it would take a lot of time and that I should connect my phone if it was less than 20% of battery.

The Bell's Web site indicates that the version of the software is 10.3.2.2168 and the latest version of the OS is 10.3.2.2252.  I don't know how many times this site is updated, but I guess that's the version that I am trying to update?

The phone is not fixed... I can see messages turn on the lock screen and interact with the phone to get a glimpse of these messages, but if I try to unlock the phone, the message block appears above any function, I tried to launch (whether a text message, the camera, an email, etc) and I can't interact with the phone at that time otherwise than to lock again and open the lock screen up.

At the time wherever I drag, the prompt.

The prompt on the phone for about 6 hours now.  The battery was full this morning and had exhausted 70%, but I've since plugged.

I have not tried a batt pull because I'm afraid of the consequences of this action after the launch of the update.

Everyone knows this and had the phoen back? I know that 6 hours is well past any reasonable wait times in my books and was strongly tempted to restart the device... but is there here experts who recommended that I continue to wait?

I forgot to mention that the power button was still working to give the ability to power off the unit.

In the end, I couldn't wait any longer.  I put off the device "no risk" with the power button, rather than using the battery pull method.  I turned on the camera back later and the blackberry logo appeared.  The screen faded faded black and no lights appeared on the phone.

I could hit to swipe down to get the blackberry logo to return to the screen, but no startup loading progress screen never wouldn't come.

I could never get to the home screen, but the phone was actually 'ON' below.  I could call the phone and it should sound, but there is no visual indication that the phone was working and there was no way to respond.  Sliding down to unlock simply revealed the word "blackberry" in the middle of the screen.

I did a Batt pull and this time, the logo appeared as before, but disappeared forever... and then the progress of boot screen appear.

The words 'from 10 Blackberry OS' were visible on the bottom and rotate it beween this and "install updates".

Start-up took a LOT of time (15-20 minutes?) but after that, everything was fine.

Displayed software update version information and it is indeed updated to 10.3.2.2168.

  • Sound is comin from the speaker and headphones at the same time. How to solve this problem?

Hello! I installed win7 professional and upgrade to ultimate and when I play a music or vdo sound is coming from the speaker and the headphones. I have a 3ghertz Pentium 4 with 1 GB of ram, and it runs the 32-bit version. And also the headphone option is not present in the peripheral reading option.
Can any1 please please help me?

We consider that your machine uses Realtek HD audio-
(Older versions of Realtek HD audio drivers may have a slightly different form, but the)
    basics should be the same).

    There are two ways to set up the helmet when it is plugged into the façade decision-making;
    (1) in Realtek Manager of her go to Advanced Settings feature in the upper right of the window.
Check the circle next to cut... plugged back.
When this fact was you must also click on the yellow folder icon below the
Device settings advanced and check 'Disable protection of jack façade' is clear.
-Of the drawbacks of this method are that you do not get an option of separate settings for headphones.
then they use the same environment as your speakers and EQUALIZER settings, but you can use both the
speakers and the headphones if you wish.
-Note that with this option, the helmet does not show in Sound Manager window.

    (2) advanced settings in the sound Manager go to Realtek device.
The check box next to do advance... at the same time.
This will disable the speakers when headphone is plugged in the socket of the façade,
and return to the speakers when headphones are disconnected.
Also check one or more of the boxes below, according to your need.

-With this setting, there is an option for headphones in the two Windows Sound manager
    and Realtek HD Audio Manager.
-With this setting, it does not matter which option to use in yellow folder as the setting icon
is ' either / or '. You cannot run at the same time the speakers and headphones.

-Note that with games the headset must be connected prior to spear the game, or
the default set to the speakers.
