SSD non-retine 13 "2012 woes

I have a MBP mid-2012, i7, 16GB. Try to replace the hard drive with an SSD. I used Carbon Copy Cloner to duplicate the mechanical HDD to the SSD, and she starts once; After that, I get a gray screen for a long time (more than a minute), then the circle-slash signs sparkles with occasional of the Apple logo. That's what I tried (all these steps except the last several times):

-Boot from a disk external and launch disk first aid. Certificate of good health.

-Start on the recovery on the SSD partition (fails with the same symptoms above)

-Start Internet recovery and run disk first aid. Get the files in the EFI system partition. Subsequent audits found no problem.

-Start Internet recovery, wipe the drive and do a clean install of Mountain Lion. Stuck on the Apple logo and the spinning wheel after restart. After that a hard reset, started cleanly in ML, obtained through the initial configuration and at the login screen, then no further.

This happened first with a Samsung 850 EVO 500 G, who had worked with my old MBP (mid-2011 i5). After seeing several reports of Mac incompatibility with these drives, I got a Crucial 750 G and I'm having the same problems. None of this is happening with the mechanical transmission provided with the system. El Capitan, all updates and the firmware is up to date.

Have you tried to start the MBP with the new SSD connected externally via USB. If successful, the internal SATA cable is the main suspect and should be replaced.

Ciao.

    Hi all

I think to buy my second MacBook.

Currently, I have a MacBook Air mid 2013.

It's screen/flash storage is a little on the small side for me.

Then I watched www.apple.com/benl and sought an Apple laptop that fits my needs.

And I fell on the MacBook Pro Non-retine (bottom of the page for MacBook Pro)

    So my questions are:

Estimated life: it will last at least 2-3 years with what I'll do with it. (Read below for my needs)

It will be always fast enough, there is no need to be fast, but the average speed is necessary (startup time doesn't really matter unless it's longer than 5 minutes).

How long he will be out of date it will get most recent OS X updates for couple preferably 2-3 years.

Is it possible to perform the following operations on this MacBook Pro (my needs):

Some games like: GTA V (on lowest settings), Borderlands, Minecraft, Euro Truck Simulator 2,... (GTA V is working on my MacBook Air but must run from external HARD disk).

    Run Windows 7 in BootCamp.

    Surf the web

    Watch YouTube videos in 1080 p/720 p

    Basic PhotoShop

I'm not going to do things:

    Edit video.

    Record Gameplay videos.

    Should what configuration I:

Cheaper, configuration of stock or choose for Core i7 and 8 GB of RAM I don't need an SSD (it's small, expensive).

I "need" core i7 and 8 GB of RAM or only 8 GB of RAM or only Core i7, just stock or stock with 8 GB of RAM.

    Thanks in advance!

You can watch in Macs, refurbished Apple . These are like new only to an economy and you might find a slightly more than the current date to run Windows 7 in Bootcamp. A mid-2012 will take place in Windows 7 in Bootcamp. I bought 3 Mac (Mac Mini, 2 - MBP retinas) in the past and have never had a problem. They carry the same warranty that any new Mac. I think that any Mac you buy is easily past 2-3 years with what you want to run.

In the list of the things you mentioned, if you get a 2015 model, you will not be able to run Windows 7 in Bootcamp. You pouvez run it in a Virtual Machine like Parallels Desktop 11. I have a retinal model of 2015 and Bootcamp can only setup for Windows 8 and more. So, I run Windows 7 and 10 in a VM using Parallels Desktop. Personally, I would not run any graphics intensive games on your laptop, but you certainly can if you don't mind hearing that run the fans.

Certainly, 8 GB of RAM (minimum) with a 256 GB or larger SSD drive. You can do what others are doing and future proof your Mac by getting 16 GB or RAM. Current models have bus PCIe for flash storage and it's fast! I had a late 2012 with flash SATA storage retina and my current 2015 beginning with PCIe is much faster. Insofar as an Intel i5 or i7, it's really you. With what you mentioned, the i7 would probably be a good choice.

  • Versions non-retine and retina do not match

I am running Adobe Photoshop CC 2015 on a MacBook Pro of the retina and a former non-retine MacBook Air. They run both version 'later' (confirmed in the Cloud creative toolbar). However, they have different version numbers:

The older MacBook Air runs a newer version: 2015.1.2

The new MacBook Pro running a previous version: 2015.0.0

I wonder why they don't match and if this can create compatibility issues later. I can tell only so far that the chrome of the user interface is different, I don't think that there is something significantly different in functionality.

Sometimes you will need to log out of the application of CC desktop and log back in to the 2015.0.0 and see if you have updates available. It should be 2015.1.2

  • Still capable of producing non-Retina iPhone folios?

I've just been setting up my app details in iTunes and it only gives you the ability to upload screenshots of 4-inch retina, retina of 3.5 inches and iPad. Is that mean that if I submit an iPhone non-retine app (built in 480px x 320px), it will be rejected?

Retina iphone apps will still work on older ones, non-retine iphones? If so, you would say I just create my application in the retina of 960px x 640px resolution?

    Thank you

Only a record of 480 x 360 will appear on an iPhone 3 g. The folio of retina will appear not on the 3GS in the same way that a HD 2048 folio does not appear on an iPad to SD.

Check the dimensions of the iPod Touch. The 3rd generation iPod is 480 x 360 (like the iPhone 3GS). The 4th generation iPod is 960 x 640 HD (like the iPhone 4S). The 5th gen iPod is 1136 x 640 HD (like the iPhone 5).

  • I've owned Adobe CS Master Collection since CS3. Currently, I run CS6 and can't update my software online. I run on a MacBook Pro retina mid 2012, 16 GB RAM, SSD, with the Mavericks 10.9

    Can you help me?

    Thank you

    Bob

It seems that Adobe has reached the end of the line even by which they entered "desktop publishing." The 'right answer', it seems that you can not update of the CS6 use manual update. CS6 and, on the other hand, the idea of owning your own software and your files is no longer supported.

Who doesn't remember the free versions of InDesign, we all received, even if Adobe has criticized the "bad old Quark" for overcharging their customers. No doubt that Quark was bad (and stupid - in retrospect). However, cloud 'Creative' new to Adobe is even worse than the Quarks value - rent you the software and don't have access to your own work while you pay the rent. We really speak to each other these questions on a Forum depopulated by Adobe? A few moments ago somebody assigned the label of "Right answer" to the first inadequate answer to my question. So now we compete with each other to see who can give the most 'popular' answer in the absence of adequate customer support?

  • With cable of HDD to SSD Macbook Pro mid-2012

I've recently upgraded to SSD (Samsung Evo 850) of the HARD drive on my Macbook pro mid-2012. However, the installation of the SSD has been very painful. I tried to use in recovery mode disk utility, several times but it fails to remove or mount the SSD drive. I thought it was the faulty SSD. Then I hung the SSDS via a USB port and proceeded to install OS X on it (using my HARD drive). The SSDS works very well with the USB key, so I put it in and hooked up with the flex cable that was previously used for my HARD drive. However, this does not work, the operating system sees that there is a reader hooked, sees the name, size and etc, but does not charge, gives me the sign of question mark folder, which means there is no hanging drive. So I think it's something with the HARD drive, SATA cable. But the cable works perfectly when used with the HARD disk. So I was wondering if the HARD drive cable that comes with Macbook Pro mid-2012 is compatible with the SSD. I watched several videos of people the SSD HARD drive upgrade, but they all seem to be using the same cable. Any ideas what could be the problem or if I need a different type of cable? Thank you.

Try this it worked for another user having the same problems.

Your MacBook is looking for initial start-up by car but can not find.

Power on the Mac and hold down the 'option' at the same time, and then manually select to boot from the drive of choice.

    Also, try this first:

    SMC and the PRAM Reset

I have a MBP mid-2012 13 inches and I did an upgrade SSD with a Samsung Evo 850-series (500 GB.). However, I had no problem.

I used Carbon Copy Cloner to clone the original disc for the SSD via a USB-to-Sata adapter.

My first start was slow because I don't have the SMC / PRAM reset my MBP was looking for startup disk.

However after my MBP starts very quickly. I got no problem with Samsung Evo SSD. They work very well with Macs.

Don't forget to activate the "pad" your non - owc SSD support.

Open "terminal app" and enter the command 'sudo trimforce activate' select YES, YES... and restart after completing

  • H700 (or H710) CacheCade and SSD non dell

I was wondering if someone got cachecade successfully work with a non dell ssd. The dell docs say it must be certified dell ssd drive (but paid £1000 for one ssd 100 GB seems excessive). This http://www.tachytelic.net/2012/02/adding-an-intel-520-series-ssd-as-a-cachecade-drive-to-a-dell-poweredge-r510/ guy says he did so I was wondering if anyone had tried. I know that dell has changed the firmware on these in order to allow no dell grows in normal conditions of use, have they moved back on cachecade as well?

    Thank you

    John,

No Dell SSD drives should work as long as they are detected and functional.

There is also a limit of 512 GB for cachecade.

  • Multiple poster on MacBook Pro (retina) end 2012

    Hey friends,

I'm trying to put up in my office and I would like some insight or feedback if the following configuration will work for me.

I have a MacBook Pro 15 "with the retina display (end of 2012) and want to connect:

2 x 29 "Samsung Ultra Wide monitors LS29E790CNS/EN (http://www.samsung.com/uk/consumer/it/monitor/curved-monitor/LS29E790CNS/EN) 2-port Thunderbolt on my laptop over a 3rd Samsung TV UE40JU7000 (http://www.samsung.com/uk/consumer/tv-audio-video/televisions/uhd-tvs/UE40JU7000 TXXU) via the HDMI port on my laptop."

All these will be connected through the horizontal Hengedock dock (https://eu.hengedocks.com/pages/horizontal-macbook-pro-retina)

This configuration will work as I'm a believer or would I have problems? Anyone tried this configuration that could give me your comments?

Thanks in advance for any help you could give me.

  • What disk ssd works best with 2012 model

I need to replace my hard drive in my MacBook Pro mid-2012. A PNY CS1311 will be a good choice?

I just did an upgrade to SSD on my MBP mid-2012 13 inches.

    I used a Samsung Evo 850-series SSD (500 GB).

However, you can also use a less expensive but all too good

    Trion OCZ SSD 150-series.

Don't forget to enable support for these SSD trim

Open 'terminal app' and type 'sudo trimforce activate', select YES, YES... .and restart start when finished.

Or you could buy an OWC SSD more expensive which crops not need support.

If good recommendation is to use at least 240 GB. partitions for each operating system that you plan to use.

If you plan use boot camp with OS - X and MS-Windows-10 then buy a 480 GB or larger SSD.

As far I can respect the original owner can be found by using the serial number. But I did not intend to do a lot more effort. • Hard drive 4SNS HARD drive voltage error > SSD in iMac end 2012

Hello - I replaced a HARD drive of 1 TB on an iMac 13.1, end of 2012 with a Samsung 850 500 GB SSD, closed and buttoned to the top of the machine without problem and started and attempt to restore backup time machine. This process completed 85% and then stalled. To restart, I'm stuck in a loop of the error. I ran diagnostic test and received the following code:

    4SNS/1/40000001:VH1R-0.000

At first, I thought it was a missing thermocouple that many articles will guide you, but seems it's only on models 2011, not 2012 as in my case.

I opened again and confirmed that the cables are well connected, represented diag and have the same error. Any other suggestions? The player would be bad?

    Thank you!

    Dan

This error, as you already know, is for the hard drive voltage sensor. Replace the hard drive and EEA, what is happening. It looks like a bad SSD.

  • MacBook Pro (retina, mid-2012) Apple Hardware Test 4MEM/9 error code / 40000000:0x794a4390

The first AHT I ran gave me the code of error 4MEM/9 / 40000000:0x79456d90. I shut down the computer as suggested and then re run AHT and received the error code 4MEM/9 / 40000000:0x794a4390. The two tests have been extended to tests. Is that going to be an expensive repair?

    Thank you

    golden2

The error indicates that there is a RAM problem. Since you have a MBP of the retina, the only alternative you have is to take the MBP for an Apple store genius bar. (RAM is welded in a MBP of the retina and is not accessible to the user) The assessment will be FREE and they will advise you of all the costs involved.

    Ciao.
