How to download or rip a dvd movie on my laptop with windows vista?

just ignore the rip and play the video

Hi ehill1014,

Welcome to Microsoft Answers Forums.

It is not possible to use Windows Media Player files video rip from a CD to your computer's hard drive. However, if you can see the movie on the CD file in Windows Explorer, then you probably can copy and paste this file to your computer's hard drive instead.
It is also not possible to extract a video file to a DVD using the player. You must use a program designed to legally copy video files from a DVD to a computer.
