  If you hover the mouse over one by one, you will get a popup providing details of what they are.  You can also use the loupe tool located under all programs-> Accessories-> ease of access.  I don't know how just enlarge that part of the taskbar without affecting the entire screen.

  Negative! Seems I found a solution.

  Right-click on the desktop.

  Select display

  the dialog box is displayed:

  "you can change the size of text and other items on your screen by choosing one of these options.
