How to export bookmarks in 17
I use Firefox 17.0.1. How do I export my favorites from one computer to another?
Thank you. Jim B.
Thanks for the help. I had a bunch of bookmarks that I have collected over a period of time on my desk. I recently acquired a new laptop and wanted to copy on it. What I've done below worked perfectly.
To copy bookmarks to another computer
- Install a flash player in computer #1
- In the menu bar, open the bookmarks > show all bookmarks > import and backup > export bookmarks as HTML.
- In the window that opens, scroll down to the flash player, then press on < record >
- Install flash player in computer #2.
- Repeat step 2 in the computer #2 except hit import bookmarks to HTML.
- Scroll down to the flash player and highlight [bookmarks. HTML] and click Open.
- Bookmarks must be imported at this point.
All instructions and links I found were a little wordy, confusing and does a not address this issue directly.
I thank once again. Jim B.

I don't want to export my favorites all at once and to completely overwrite those on the other computer. I want to just update the other computer with a few new brands of book from the old computer. If I choose the backup option using the json file it totally replaces everything when I load it on the new computer using the restore option. I want to be able to transfer bookmarks without overwriting everything. Just to add the new ones get in what is already there.
You can consider using Sync to synchronize bookmarks to another computer.

I had to update my computer and it saved my files, but none of my favorites. Through various searches I I was able to view hidden files, then find the old bookmarks C:\Windows.old\users\robin\appdata\roaming\mozilla\firefox\profiles file. But now I don't know what to do with it. How can I get these in the new download of Firefox? Please help me.
Robin
In the profile folder, you can see the bookmarkbackups inside this folder, you can see on 10 copy of json with the most recent files, and then restore your bookmarks to this json file:

I am running Firefox 5 with no further questions, on a 32-bit Windows 7 laptop. I want to copy my favorites on my laptop to work using Chrome, but I can't find the command "export" in the 5!
View all bookmarks replaces organize bookmarks and has same shortcut key ('Ctrl + Shift + B")
then "import and backup" then "export HTML code.

How to export the cookies to restore later?
I don't know how to export bookmarks for a later restore. I also want to export cookies that I use on my normal websites, so I can also restore them later.
Thank you
There is an extension which exports cookies to the old text file format. That could allow you to delete the ones your do not want by using a text editor. I think that you would need the extension again to reimport the file (modified) in Firefox.

How to export Firefox bookmarks partially?
Current bookmarks manager Firefox to only export entire collections of bookmark in an html file. I would like to know how I export partially some of them, not all, in an html file it please?
You cannot export a selection of bookmarks.
You will need to export to a HTML file and edit that file to remove unwanted bookmarks.
Easier is to place a copy of the bookmarks at the end of the folder of bookmarks Menu bookmarks (Library Manager; Bookmarks > show all bookmarks).
Here you can easily find the and paste them into another folder using a text editor.
