How to fix a corrupted DVD driver is - a?

I get the following when my DVD does not start: Windows cannot start this hardware device because its information of configuration (in the registry) is incomplete or damaged. (Code 19).

Of course, this is the latest driver and cannot be updated. I tried from wiith the last known good config, but I do not know what criteria were used, because the driver does not start.

Windows 7 Service Pack 1.

One or two of these entries may be the issue.

You can first try remove the GEARAspiWDM entry.

To remove the GEARAspiWDM entry double-click UpperFilters and, under value data, delete GEARAspiWDM > OK

Create a system restore point beforehand and restart the computer after.

However, if you have an application that uses the GEARAspiWDM, like iTunes, just install the latest version of hardware drivers (4.020.5) and that no changes to the registry:

http://www.GearSoftware.com/support/drivers.php

If after this the drive still does not work try to remove the entry from the afc.

To remove the afc entry double-click LowerFilters and, under value data, delete afc > OK

Create a system restore point beforehand and restart the computer after.

    Hello Mr. ML.

You're welcome and thank you for your kind words. The problem, Recuva is a file recovery application. They allow you to recover a file (or folder or partition) that has been deleted or damaged otherwise. Another freeware program, you can use - it's the only one on my system - is 7 - Data Recovery Suite, available here: http://download.cnet.com/7-Data-Recovery-Free/3000-2094_4-75905667.html.

Just to be clear, this is equivalent to a backup in case your backup (if all goes well now) fails for some reason any. Part of the concern here is that the corrupted files are potentially carriers of the virus or anything would be able to re - corrupting your system.

Frankly, if it were my system, I'd be less likely to try to repair files corrupt and much more likely to replace everything. And Yes, I have separated from my system disk backups and my data disc, baked upward on the other two disks. Readers are cheap. So if you have backups and / or can make a reinstallation is complete, it would be my first choice recommendation.

If you can't do that for some reason, some tips for the use of data recovery software.

    • Stop any activity involving the disk or disks that you want to recover files from. The reason is simple, the computer "works" - reads and writes information in the hard drive, more lucky that some of the files to recover will finish itself be replaced. The more often that happens the higher the risk that you will not get a "good recovery" - too much information will be unrecoverable.
    • Do not install it on the same drive you want to recover files from. Its OK to install the program on your D:\ or you get the portable version on a flash drive.
    • Given that the source of the problem is a virus / malware, i. by 'wash' everything you get with your antivirus program as soon as they are recovered.

Good luck to you and keep me updated.

    Kind regards

  • Satellite Pro A120 - how to replace the CD/DVD drive?

    Hello

My DVD/CD drive does not work much more and I want to replace it, but cannot find a way how to remove it from the drive. Anyone able to help me with that? Which screws I need to remove and where? Thank you!

    Hi caribman,

As much as I know the ODD of replacement is not so easy. The drive is secured by a screw and to remove this screw, you need to remove the keyboard and the other parties as well.

In my opinion, this should be done by a technician of laptop because it s a delicate procedure. It is not as easy as on the desktop, so I would contact a professional help

    Hello

the device DVD/combined my A100-692 is damaged and I want to replace it.
I found no still no guide how to replace the unit.

    Is there something available?

    Thanks in advance!

    Hello!

AFAIK, you must remove the keyboard first, before you can replace the CD/DVD drive. Remove the screws on the lower side, and then you can push the disc if you have replaced the keyboard.
It seems to be a bit tricky

Maybe you should ask a technician for laptop to help. They can replace the CD/DVD drive for you.

  • Cannot copy my Xbox360 games - how to check what CD/DVD drive I have

    Hello

just bought my laptop recently and im trying to copy my original Xbox 360 games. All sorted out on programs etc... only one problem...
The driver or firmware of this pc needs updating (or so I found on the net). It says "Failed to set L0 data zone capacity"... and field not valid in the CBD. Someone had this problem?

What should I do? How can I check if I have the latest firmware.

    Thank you

    Chris

    Hello

You can easily find details of CD/DVD players.
Go in my computer-> do a right-click on the CD Player / DVD-> properties-> hardware

You will find the information on your CD/DVD drive installed.

If you need the firmware check in detail
Device Manager-> right click on CD drive / DVD-> properties-> driver tab

You will find information like for example these (this may be different on your laptop)
    IDE\CDROMMAT * A_DVD-RAM_UJ-852S__ * 1.80*

1.80 is the version of the firmware!

  • Movie compilation error, how to fix a corrupted file?

So, I work with Adobe first CC, and it has not been able to export, always saying "error compiling Movie, unknown error". After days of searching through these tips of countless people with the same problem and no solution, I landed on the question being there which is "damaged", there is a clip... So, I give everything and it stops, give me the same error message on which I guess is the damaged element. Well, I found it. But for me, it seems to be nothing wrong with it. I can't just walk out the film, how this file even become "damaged" and how to fix it?

Update for anyone who runs into this problem. What I ended up doing is to find each clip "damaged" (I surrender all and it stops, give me the same error message on which I guess is the damaged clip). I had damaged about 10 clips in a 90-minute film. I typed in the name of the file and everyone in my backup hard drive, copied to the disc I store the files I use Adobe and rename each file (personally I just use the same name and add "2" at the end). Then I did slide the clip renamed on the timeline. I didn't waste time to find out exactly how I cut each clip so I pulled the clip up to V2, drawn to its original length, matched that with the file renamed, removed the damaged file, resized a new space damaged the damaged one busy and I was able to add a stabilizer of string to it and it has made and exported without problem.

  • Cannot follow the directions to learn how to fix a corrupt exactly user profile.

    When I followed the following instructions;

    http://Windows.Microsoft.com/en-us/Windows7/fix-a-corrupted-user-profile

I can do everything through the seven step but when I do extra files that would appear under the folders do not appear.  To get these files to appear I have to open windows explore and go to tools > folder options > view and uncheck "Hide protected files of the operating system (recommended).

I can then follow the seven-eleven steps and everything seems to work OK.  But it leaves me curious to know what may be wrong.

    Any ideas?

You say that you have completed all the steps until step 7...

Step 5 tells you to 'clear the Hide protected operating system files check box... "- so you should have already passed this check box in step 5 and I don't understand why you have to clear the box still in step 7 to see the files.

If you are copy and paste all the files except ntuser.dat, ntuser.dat.log and ntuser.ini by following the instructions in step 7, then you do it right.
