How to fix a corrupted DVD driver is - a?
I get the following when my DVD does not start: Windows cannot start this hardware device because its information of configuration (in the registry) is incomplete or damaged. (Code 19).
Of course, this is the latest driver and cannot be updated. I tried from wiith the last known good config, but I do not know what criteria were used, because the driver does not start.
Windows 7 Service Pack 1.
One or two of these entries may be the issue.
You can first try remove the GEARAspiWDM entry.
To remove the GEARAspiWDM entry double-click UpperFilters and, under value data, delete GEARAspiWDM > OK
Create a system restore point beforehand and restart the computer after.
However, if you have an application that uses the GEARAspiWDM, like iTunes, just install the latest version of hardware drivers (4.020.5) and that no changes to the registry:
http://www.GearSoftware.com/support/drivers.php
If after this the drive still does not work try to remove the entry from the afc.
To remove the afc entry double-click LowerFilters and, under value data, delete afc > OK
Create a system restore point beforehand and restart the computer after.

It is not surprising that the same issue affects the old and the new drive.

I have windows vista Home premium OS on a Dell Inspiron 530. Some time previously, autorun would not work, but I could open the program manually. Who has also disappeared. The drivers are later and Device Manager shows the drive works properly.
I also have a problem importing pictures from my camera even though I reinstalled the whole program. When I try to download, I get a screen showing the camera as a storage device. No way to get around.
All points before March 1 of restoration, have disappeared.
I've used RegZooka. If I have damaged registry, how can I restore it? If I open REGEDIT it opens directly onto the CD/DVD key.
Help!

Hello
I use VMware Workstation 10, and I found a bug:
With the all-new virtual machine (for example with Windows 8 x 64), if I choose a hard SATA and SATA DVD drive in VMware and I have to disable the floppy drive in the VMware BIOS, Windows 8 (or Windows 7) ISO does not start.
If I come back in the BIOS to enable the floppy drive once again, my ISO boot.
If I use the DVD IDE drive in VMware options, no problem if I disable the floppy drive.
With "EFI mode", no bugs.
Please, can you solve this problem? Thank you

How to change the power supply to the CD/DVD drive so that it is disabled by default?
When running on battery I often use the icon 'Remove hardware safely' XP to 'unplug' the carpet * CD/DVD drive for Safe some battery life. (Does?) I use Fn + Tab to bring back to life. I wonder if there is a way to make my boot Notebook (M400) with the power supply to the reader off by default. Moreover, any idea where I can find the extra battery for the slot of the CD/DVD player and who the price?
Thanks in advance for your help.
Hello, Robert
If you see the start page, you will see that this support forum is not a type of support Toshiba directly but forum users. But you're not alone and many users expect that a Toshiba support team sit in the office and before writing the answers.
In any case, there are many users of Toshiba laptops with very good knowledge and also amateurs who are trying to help the other guys in different problems and also to share own experience.
Professionalism is not the forum but action when you need help because of physical damage or something similar. If you need assistance and competent answers each authorized partner must be able to provide the info you need. But please don t mixture and Toshiba service partner because it is not the same.
In any case, I found the info you can use additional (second battery expansion) and it takes batteries with PA3510U-1BAL, PA3510U-1BRL room numbers. I can't tell you how much it costs, but you will find only using Google.
Back to your first question: if I understand you just want to save more power and because of this, you want to sign out ODD. It's a nice idea, but you have clearly misunderstood something. "Safely Remove Hardware option is there to help the operating system and and say this material, a part will be removed and don t exist anymore, but it does not physically the disconnection of any other material."
If you need more power use a second battery and enjoy your life.
If you have any other questions you are welcome. A lot of users here M400 and I hope in the future that some of them will participate in a little more.
Good day! :)

Portege R500 - CD/DVD drive no longer works
Does anyone found a resolution to this?
Like David, my DVD Multidrive on my R500 abruptly arrested recently - I can open/close the player, but he does not appear in Windows Explorer as a disk is valid. Do not think that I have nothing installed on the machine.
Interestingly, I never really use the DVD player. Indeed, because of all the * heat * questions, I used to "Power Off" of the device, via the DVD icon in the system tray (i.e. option enabled me to Power on / off the unit). So while the power was OFF, it's cold the machine, and so the fan was rarely on.
Now that my computer no longer recognizes the drive, this icon it simply shows that disabled, no possibility to the power on/off switch, and this noisy fan is almost always on. In addition, because it seems that the machine tries to recognize the drive subject time at startup, all re-start, reboot the machine now takes a few minutes to start...
For the optical drive firmware update help? Or is there some other fix?
Hello
> but my Portege R500 CD/DVD drive has stopped working the next day, I had attached an external CD - RW drive for me to burn discs. Maybe it did disable my built-in drive?
This could be the key;
Try to access the Device Manager and remove the CD/DVD player listed and all USB host controllers and USB root hub.Again, restart the laptop.
After new check restart if the CD/DVD drive has been recognized again. -
Satellite 1800-911: error #1 - C2502 CD/DVD drive IDE
PC: satellite 1800-911 BIOS V.2.1.
I try to fix the problem with my DVD/CD COMBO drive (all of a sudden do not read any kind of CD).
I tried to update the firmware from 1313 to... I don't remember. I get now, before XP pro SP2 start, the "IDE #1 ERROR" message and the operating system do not recognize any DVD/CD.BIOS recognize, ligth blinks and you can use the eject button. When XP is from that of the ligth is disabled and the eject button do not work.
Now, if I try to go back to firmware 1313 (from boot floppy BACK) I get an error TYPE ROM INCORRECT.
Can I fix this?> BIOS recognizes, the light will blink and you can use the eject button
That means nothing! If the IDE 1 error message # appears it means that the BIOS does not recognize the device (CD/DVD drive) that is connected to the IDE 1 controller.
I think that you used just a bad firmware and flashed settings preinstalled with the wrong firmware!
Now the master\slave\c-salt settings have been changed and the BIOS cannot access to ODD.I don t know where did you get the firmware, but in my opinion this firmware is certainly false and not supported!
I found this drive here on the Toshiba page but the firmware is missing
