How to format the drive "C"?
How to format my 'C' drive which is clear of all my files and programs? I want to sell my computer but don't want anything of mine on the disc.
Hello
You format the drive as part of the resettlement process.
Do a clean reinstall of the operating system of your computer to the factory settings; State new, as it was purchased.
But remember that nothing is definitively deleted; only the 'flag' to where the files are located is removed.
It is a good program to use to wipe the hard drive of most of the attempts to access your information 'deleted '.
Then install the own.
You can contact your computer manufacturer and ask them to send you a set of recovery disks.
They should do this for a small fee.
And if you have never received a recovery disk when you bought your computer, there should be a recovery on the drive Partition hard reinstall Windows how much you bought your computer.
The recovery process can be started by pressing a particular combination of the key or keys at startup. (Power on / start)
Maybe it's F10, F11, Alt + F10, etc., depending on the manufacturer.
Ask them to the proper key sequence.
See you soon.

Hello
I have a PC with XP Pro, which I think is not a legitimate copy of the operating system. So, I am trying to install an original OEM OS from Windows XP Home ed. Paraphasing error message: "Cannot go back," I want to start by reformatting the c drive. However, I don't know how to do so on Windows and in the 'Run' dialog screen. I tried to start the configuration of the screen (F8 on reboot) but the CD player says "disabled", and I can't seem to activate. Any help that works will be greatly appreciated. Thanks in advance.
PS: this is my first time using this forum, so I hope I can find the answer if someone answersI think xp reformatted drive what ever you choose to install on. A good work-around: do you do a fdisk. Set your bios to boot from floppy. Go to the directory and use the format command. That it will scan.

Portege 3440CT: how to format HARD drive
Hi all
After suffering a little frustration, I decided to use the wealth of knowledge and experience which is available on the support forum.
I have a Portege 3440CT which has been delivered to my friend a few years ago, by a company she worked at the time. When the company replaced the laptop, we were allowed to keep the old, we use very occasionally. Unfortunately, the laptop has recently experienced a failure total and irrecoverable from the original hard drive, which was not a huge setback because there was no essential data there.
In any case, I have from a compatible spare hard drive - a Hitachi 30 GB ATA-5 / IDE 2.5 "9.5 mm 4200 RPM, Pt not ' DK23CA-30F - and mounted, but as the hard disk is not formatted the laptop does not see it is there. As I said earlier, the laptop was provided by the employer, so we are not in possession of any recovery disks Toshiba or Windows that may have been provided, the laptop was originally running Windows 98 Second edition, and the sticker detailing the product key is always on the underside.
I approached one of the suppliers of services of Toshiba for help and they directed me to Toshiba.
Toshiba says that the laptop is no longer supported so they directed me to a service provider, I went around in circles. My question is, if I bought a copy of Windows 98 SE, or Windows XP and installed on the external floppy drive, which would also include a facility to format the hard drive? I think that in Windows 98 Second edition, there was a function of FDISK. I was able to access the pages of the BIOS after looking through advice given here, I can change the order of boot with no problems
What I request, essentially, is that now, I have installed a new hard drive, what do I do next?
> My question is, if I bought a copy of Windows 98 SE, or Windows XP and installed on the external floppy drive, which would also include a facility to format the hard drive?
Yes, definitely Yes! The installation of Win98or of other versions of Windows like W2K or XP provides an option to format the HARD drive before installing the operating system.
Simply boot from the bootable CD to get this feature. -
How to format the drive hard if you are not an administrator
I have a laptop hp windows xp opportunity and I would like to format it but I can't because I'm not the administrator. How do I format it without admin access?
You probably mean you want to re - install Windows. How you do it depends of what laptop you have and whether you have any recovery/reinstallation CDs, but in any case, you do NOT start with "formatting" of the computer.
For a general overview of reinstalling Windows on HP computers, see http://h10025.www1.hp.com/ewfrf/wc/document?docname=c00006110&lc=en&cc=us&dlc=en&product=18703

How to format a drive which has Windows on it?
I accidentally installed Windows on two disks and I want to delete one of them, but he says that it cant format that pushes. Can you help me?
EDIT:Sorry, I realized that I can not format the hard drive. Is it possible to change the main hard drive?Plug the HD from anywhere that the computer power and the controller to start. Start the machine. As it starts, go into the setup of the BIOS in the usual way. Set the drive connected as assigned from which the system boots. Note that the other drive is not connected. Turn it back on.
If the system does not start, insert the Windows Vista DVD into the drive. Make sure that the DVD player is set forst in the boot order. Restart the computer. Use the facilities on the DVD of startup repair. This process will result in changes to the bootstrapper. Restart the system.
It should start.
After confirm the operation, stop the system and connect the other drive, restart. Now you should be able to delete what you want the HD with the unwanted system.
Tom Ferguson
PS
There is only one method. It can be done by other means.

Format hard drive for Media Center
I have a Dell E1705, which I used for several years. During the system was under warranty, a Dell technician I crossed of reformatting the hard drive and had me format in a single partition. I discovered once this is completed there is a hidden partition to enable the functionality of Media Center work. I tried to make a 1.5 GB hidden partition, but could not make it work. I'm tired of formatting and reinstalling and just went ahead and started using it. Supervisor of the technician, I was working with at the time said to call him just at the time when I wanted to start.
My warranty has now lapsed. I want to reformat the hard disk and to return the media center functionality. I don't know how to format the drive hard so that the installation works properly.
I have the reinstallation of the operating system CD (DVD) "Version of Windows Media Center 2005 with Update Rollup." I have a Cd labeled "to reinstall Dell Tools System Software", "Drivers and Utilities for.
reinstall Dell Inspiron and XPS system software","to reinstall Dell Media Experience 3.1 "and" to reinstall Dell MediaDirect on Dell Inspiron 9400 and E1705 systems".
I think I can get through the basics of starting from the DVD and reinstall Windows as well as to get pilots back in the drivers disk. I would get the media central part back to feature so needs to know how to reformat/repartition my hard drive so that it works. All the words of wisdom / tutorial on adding information necessary to solve my problem would be appreciated also. I looked around, on the support.dell.com site and forum of users without finding something that helps me to solve this problem.

Hi all
I use Sony handycam model XDR150E. I am not able to take any video, it always shows me HDD format error.
Please let me know how to solve
You can also use a data recovery software to help you.the disc you are trying to access either is not designed to be used with your OS, or it has been damaged and the data can no longer be read. Each diskette and hard disk must be formatted to prepare media for use with a particular file system.
to resolve the error format hard drive , use a third-party software or ask for the help of an engineer.

and you will need drivers for devices. If you perform a clean installation on an existing PC which has XP already installed:
Check your code CD Key corresponds to what Belarc Advisor reports to your existing installation.
Note: Windows OEM installs usually come with a sticker on the PC or laptop and may not match the installed key factory.
