  • New HARD drive - how to install Windows?

    Hey guys,.

I have a problem with my Dell Dimension 9150. A friend of mine gave me as a gift, because I built his new computer. We put his HARD drive in his new computer.

The problem is: there is no CD of his computer.

I have the original Windows XP and Windows MCE and CD licenses. The Dimension has a MCE key so I would like to install MCE.

After installing a new HARD drive, I tried to install Windows. BIOS shows me the HARD drive. When I start the installation of Windows and choose "Windows Installer", I get to the screen where I can choose, what partition I would use. But installing Windows shows me no HARD drive!

Don't know if I need SATA drivers? If I should need it, where can I find them? And how to get them in the Windows installation? I know that I can load pressing F6, but I don't have a floppy device.

Would be great, if someone could help me.

New hard drive try to install Windows vista, but it keep suspended after 60% collapsed I tried a few time every time I had to wait for 5 hours, but the same thing happen again and again can help you pleaaaaaaaaaaaaase

    Monastir,

What happens when it stops it is have a Sata driver. It is on the drivers cd you received with your computer. You can also start the computer and press F2 to enter the bios. From there down to Configuration system - SATA Operation and change this to ATA. It is located to AHCI. Save the changes and restart the installation. Once you have loaded Windows and drivers installed, you will need to go back to AHCI.

    Hello Edtannjr,

Thank you for your message.  Remember that the operating system itself takes place and many OEM systems contains a recovery partition which can take up to a space as well.

  • Adding an SSD as a boot drive - how to install Windows Vista Start

To speed up my new e9105z, I bought a new 80 GB Intel X - 25 M to reduce disk latency and complete the 640GO HARD drive came with my computer.

Drive has been installed successfully, recognized by the PC and formatted with the Windows Vista Disk Manager tool.  When I use the BIOS tool to set the Intel SSD as my boot drive, it says that some files of startup is missing, and I come to on the HARD disk as the startup disk.

Bottom line: how to install Windows Vista on the SSD and configure it to start?  Did I lose my classic HDD data in the process?

    Thank you

Here is where I am/measures taken.  HP of course makes this difficult process:

    (1) used the CD Creator to make a backup.  (Note that the CD - R does not work with the e9105z software.  Do only DVD-R).  (I tried the system HARD disk recovery image.  He simply reinstalled itself on the HARD disk.)

    (2) the value of Vista installed on the SSD via backup DVDs.  System starts beautifully with SSD.  Hooray! I was about to declare mission accomplished, then...

    (3) Reconnected my HDD SATA cable, she failed to be the startup disk.

    (4) I used disk management to reformat the HARD drive to erase its boot sector.  It is always default to the HARD disk, which is more a Vista on it.  Now, I must go into the BIOS and choose the Intel SSD as boot drive whenever I turn on manually.

Any idea on what needs to be done to configure the BIOS to finally settle the SSD as my boot drive?  The backup system image is still on the old hard drive.  Could that be throwing?

The SSD speed is great, but the 6 + hours spent on Vista reinstall, reinstall and reinstall throughout this trial and error process made a royal PITA to do.  It seems that HP didn't consider that whether by adding a second drive that is bootable.

    Thank you

You should be able to select the startup disk in the BIOS.  Restoring image shouldn't be a factor.  If the BIOS settings do not work, I would swap the connectors between the readers.

    Good luck

  • Format HARD drive or re - install

    Pavilion g6 1201-tx. Win 7 HB 64 bit. HARD drive 640 GB.

For a year now, I bought g6. I think g6 went too slow, clumsy, and it does not give me performance as expected from it.

So should I format drive HARD whole, delete all partitions, repartition the and do all of these tasks and then re-install OR

    should I just re-install Win 7?

    Issues related to the:

    (1) should I use the recovery discs to re - install Win 7 or I can download a newer version of Win 7 HB 64 bits from Microsoft so that it will contain all the updates?

    (2) If I use recovery disks, then it will format my default HARD drive or there is the option to choose the partition to install? He'll take care of the boot (partiton ID:0) partition ?

It will create HP_TOOLS and partition recovery again on my HARD drive as it was when I bought my g6?

    (3) If I install downloaded Win 7 HB, which HP software are a MUST to install as software framework and mention also why necessary?

    (4) I want to install 1 or several Linux distributions, then what should be the order of partition? Such as:

    C for Win 7
    D for the personal data
    E for Linux
    F for Swap
    G for Linux_2
    and so on.

Who should be the extended partition ?

How much space should be given for Win 7: C drive? 50 GB enough for all the software basic / essential?

I have to manually resize the aura boot partition? What should be its size. 200 MB? I want to install Linux so GRUB can take more space.

    Thank you!

    Say hello to new VAHPG6.

The boot partition will be formatted by the recovery process.  I don't think, however, that you will need more than 200 MB to install GRUB.  So, I'd leave this one partition.

This guide should be useful for the dual-boot.  If you read the section about dual boot Vista and Linux (with Vista installed first), he must have some of the answers you're looking for.  Windows Vista is pretty close to Windows 7 that the instructions would be the same.

    Have a great day.

  • Portege Z930-145 - unreadable HARD drive - how to restore Windows 8?

    Hello...

I have buyed my cell phone 6 months ago in an online store.
A month ago he kissed the sky and was ready for the scrap of hard drive. The support of the seller wrote, that it does not appear a warranty issue.

Now I can not install the original OS Windows 8, which was preinstalled. Now, I have buyed a new hard drive and in time I use Ubuntu Linux. But I want to use Windows. No, my laptop has a license code.

    What can I do?

    Thank you...

Sorry for my bad English. I am Spanish.

Before anything please contact Toshiba service provider in your country and explain the situation. AFAIK you should get the new HARD drive.
List of service providers that you can find on http://www.toshiba.eu/innovation/generic/ASP_SUPPORT/
If you like it and I hope that they can explain how it works exactly.

Back to your question: each laptop with pre-installed operating system (factory settings) a small tool which create recovery media. This recovery (DVD or USB) media can be used for the original recovery image installation. I assume that you did not create this recovery media, right?

Anyway, if you want to have the settings to factory again, but you don t have recovery media you must order on https://backupmedia.toshiba.eu/landing.aspx

    Hello

I try to install XP SP3 on HP Pavilion dv9000, but XP Setup does not see the hard drive.

Can you please point me in right direction - what I do files and how to add them to the XP SP3 installation CD necessary?

I guess that somewhere there is a step-by-step detailed guide.

    Thank you

Enter the BIOS by pressing F10 at startup. If you have the option of Bios Setup to disable the native sata mode, XP will install without problem, no sata driver needed. It will be on the tab of the System Configuration.

If you do not have the setting in the Bios, it's the driver sata for your machine:
  • Formating Hard Drive to EXT3 in Windows 7

    Hello
I have a Popcorn Hour C-200 I want to install an internal HARD drive to can I format this drive on my home network to my Windows 7 PC and if so can I format the disk in EXT3 format, once again on the network? If this is not the case, what is the easiest method to format the disk in EXT3.

    Thnaks, Ian

Windows does support FAT, FAT32, NTFS and exFAT for partitions that can do/read/write in. In order to make an ext3 partition, you need to use Linux. I use GParted (gparted.sourceforge.net), which is a special Linux Live CD dedicated to the modification of partitions.   My "> favorite sons |" Computer tips contact | Programs 'Gadget '.

  • New hard drive, need to install Windows. How to do?

I installed a new hard drive in my Toshiba laptop. I've had Windows 8 before and would like it installed again, but don't know how? Buy a disc?

You can download the files to install Microsoft here, but that will not include the special Toshiba drivers and software.  Without the special software of Toshiba, will not work a lot of things on your computer, such as your video driver and keyboard/trackpad.   You may be able to download the Toshiba drivers later on the Toshiba site.

It would be better to just get the official installation disc Toshiba Windows 8, Toshiba can send you if you call them.

  • How to install a hard drive more on a Windows Server machine?

Disable windows server and install the new hard drive

I installed windows on a hard drive server but now I want to turn off and install on a new larger hard drive. How can I go about it?

    Hello

There are a few options that you can try:

    1. format the hard drive.

    2. replace a new operating system. When media starts, you are presented with the option to format the drive before installation.

    3. If it is a separate partition, and you're dual-boot, you may need to set your boot options after formatting your partition WS2008. Demarrer start on your older operating system drive, and then select the boot option fix for your existing partition from the operating system.

Note: If both the HARD drive is connected to the same machine, start from the media format of the previous installation on the old HDD and install the operating system on the new HARD drive.

You can also use a data recovery software to help you.the disc you are trying to access either is not designed to be used with your OS, or it has been damaged and the data can no longer be read. Each diskette and hard disk must be formatted to prepare media for use with a particular file system.
