How to get a newer video card?

Please help me my computer does not support certain videos as screensaver, some movement, internet cards.

The video is not the cause of the failure to screen saver. and your other elements relate to confused. What do you mean by "certain move" and "internet cards?  What specific problems are you having?

In general, in a desktop a updated video card can be installed in the proper slot (most often a PCI Express 16 slot on new computers).  Most laptops do not upgrade the video material which is a chip on the motherboard surface mount.  (There are a few rare exceptions with machines high-end multi media, but rare).

  • Possibility to get a new video card and power supply

Hey everyone just curious if someone could lend a hand with some questions I have.

I currently have a HP Pavilion Elite

    Model number: HPE-171f

    OS: Windows 7 64-bit

Recently, I was looking around in my computer and I realized that I only have a 460w power supply. From the beginning, I knew I had to get a new power supply if I wanted to update my video card.

But then I realized that there are a few constraints of size with the case. I was curious if one of the most recent as the GTX 670 Nvidia cards or 660 (when it releases) would fit in this case. With a power supply.

I know it's an older case so with this question, I was wondering if its even possible/chip just to upgrade the card video and PS.

    Thanks for the help

Yes, you can update your map graphics and power for something bigger. The CX500, CX600 Corsair are highly recommended, are favorites of the forum and are known to adapt to most cases of HP. With a length of about 9.5 inches, the graphics card GTX 670 can be tight but feasible in your case... measure along the x 16 PCIe slot and look for potential problems. • How can I tell what video card will be compatible?

Hi, I think I need a new video card, but I don't really know what the new card will be compatible with my computer, a m9077c of HP that works with Vista.I see there a Nvidia Geforce 8500 gt in there now, but looking for new to buy, I see things like (86JYAHG PVT XFX GEforce 8500 GT 450 mhz 512mbgddr2svideo/dvi/vga/pci-express16) for $35 , but then I just see alongside plain old GEforce 8500 gt for $111. What is the difference? I want just a replacement, it doesn't even have to be of the same brand, as long as this will work as well or better. How can I say that it will be compatible?

    You are the very welcome.

Make sure you first uninstall the drivers for your card current video and then instead of restarting the PC, stop it and install your new card.

Please post back and let us know how you like your new video card.

  • Pavilion Slimline s3120N will not recognize the new video card

I can't get my computer to recognize and use a new video card. I tried 3 cards (GeForce 8400GS... cards 2different and Radeon HD 4550). The computer continues using the onboard video. For each card, I did the following:

Go to configuration, advanced and changed the main graphics card 'on board' to 'PCI-E '.

Saved and let the computer start.

Stop and insert the new video card into the PCI-E slot

Start the computer and installed the latest driver

    Computer restarts

No matter what I do, it always uses the embedded video. I am running Windows 7 Home Premium. How can I use the PCI-E slot/video card? Any suggestions?

I think that your problem may be the power supply unit (PSU).  The video card that you have installed require a minimum of 300W/350W.  The power supply of your computer is perhaps only 180W; 220W at the most.  You can check by opening the case and by reading the label on.  It's just too much difference for the card to function properly.

So I tried to get a new graphics card for my HP Envy 700-214, but I'm not aware if this map is compatible or if it would have a negative impact on my system.

Here is the video card manufactured by EVGA.  It shouldn't harm your system somehow.  However, if you have trouble with the installation, you can contact their Technical Support (1-888-880-3842) or online.  They were very useful for me.  Read the reviews to see what users have to say about it.  As you can see, there are a lot of comments and appreciation 5 eggs.  You can't do better.

  • 550-153w Pavilion: new video card

Hello, I want to get the ram dedidcated to my graphic card of 256 and its 128 right now. Ive read in another post on the forum that it would be better to get another (goo.gl/Z4F0f1). I was wondering what would be the best video card to get for this need.

    @ShepardPotato, welcome to the forum.

The problem that you have with the upgrade the video card is the power supply unit (PSU).  It's only 180W.  Most new video cards require a minimum of 400 w to work properly.  You should check to see if a stanard ATX PSU will enter in the space provided for the existing power supply.  If there is enough space, this power supply should work.  You should get this one measures of the plug.

When you upgrade the PSU, here is a video card that will make what you need.  If you need more information, you should contact the manufacturer's Technical Support.

Thus, it was purchased as it was when you would get everything first he.

Yes, I need also a new power supply that is included with my budget.

    Thank you!

I'd be happy to help you in your choice.  The main problem is, recent video cards require UEFI in the motherboard instead of a standard BIOS to legacy.  HP didn't start using UEFI until mid-October 2012.  The latest maps not requiring UEFI were the series GTX 640.  However, MSI has made a card that has a VBIOS hybrid which can operate with a BIOS.  The best thing to do is to choose a video card you like and contact Technical Support from the manufacturer to ensure that it will work on your computer as it is almost 7 years old.  This will save you problems.  They are the experts on their cards.

I like Corsair power supply units (PSU).  I suggest at least 500W.  This will give you plenty of power for any card that works in your computer.

If you have any other questions, let me know.  I'll be happy to help you.

  • Pavilion HPE 440F: need new video card for HPE-440F

    Salvation;

The ATI Radeon HD 5570 in my Pavilion HPE 440F appears to be dead, or is doing. The fan has stopped working and I think the map has overheated.

    I'm running Windows 7 x 64.

Anyway - I would like to install a new card - and best video. It is, since it is HP, I bet that not all cards are compatible with my system.

For example, I can buy an ATI Radeon SR-290, which gets much higher than my current card pass mark. Or maybe even a NVidia card might be a better value for the money.

Can someone point me to a list of compatible video cards for my system?

    Thank you

    Ubuntu_Kid

p.s. My Linux box is not an HP.

    Ubuntu_Kid, welcome to the forum.

The problem you are having is, most of the newer video cards require UEFI in the motherboard instead of a standard BIOS.  HP didn't start using UEFI until mid-October 2012.  Your computer was released on August 26, 2010.

Some of the manufacturers have developed a VBIOS that will allow their cards to work with legacy BIOS.  I know that the EVGA has done with some of their cards.  I suggest to call their Tech Support (1888-880-3842) to see if they have a card that will work with your computer.

  • New video card kills her

I decided to add a video card to my HP Pavilion a1640n (intel) computer Windows XP Media Center.  I'm not a gamer, so I chose a cheap express card ATI Radeon PCI with 256 MB of memory [PowerColor HD3450].  After deactivation of the graphics card integrated and the installation of the new video card and drivers, I had beautiful graphics but no sound.   [Physical connections seemed good as well as the volume of my computer settings is not on mute;]  When I removed the video card and re-activated the integrated graphic card, my returned his computer.

What can I do to try to get the sound works with a new graphics card?

    Thank you.

Try going into the BIOS and under change Onboard Sound it self to "Enabled".

I heard that it suits it.

  • New video card.

    Hello

I have a desktop HP pavilion p6-2106 and I want a new video card, so I can play some of the games of "new".

It doesn't have to be so I can't play evry thing on max settings but just low/medium with a decent pace so I'm looking for a decent videocard with a good price but I don't really know what is compatible with my PC.

here is a link to the plug.

hope someone knows a good map of video for a good price.

    Hello

Try one of the video cards below.

MSI NVIDIA GTX N750 TI and the MSI GTX N750 TF if cards are not available at Newegg then try Amazon or Tiger Direct. Be sure to get the exact model.

You won't have to replace your power supply.

  • New video card - no video

Hi, I just bought one sucks tc - 105. My game performance was not satisfactory, and I tried upgrading the video card with something, I had to hang out. I installed it in the pcie slot hooked the monitor and start got no image. Tested the card on another machine, it still works. I was told, by a representative of acer, it's because the power supply could not handle the card. I bought a new power supply and a new video card. Installed both, still no picture. I thought that maybe there was a video conflict with the GPU "on edge". There is nothing in the bios on this subject. I don't know if it would be possible to remove it, but I don't know where find t. PC is brand new that he has had no time to get a defective pcie that according to me.

I did some reading. It turns out that it was safe "boot mode" bios and options "launch the csm" necessary adjustments. New hardware is not recognized without the people.

I have the impression that sound when I run the 3D games, such as minecraft or GMOD.

  • Vista screensaver stopped working because it requires a newer video card or Direct 3D compatibility

Windows Vista Professional Home: The resolution changed by itself, when I restored it to the original setting, the screen saver stopped working because it requires a newer video card or compatibility with Direct 3D. Nothing has changed on my system over the past two years, and everything worked well. That's happened? Why I get this message? Thanks LS

    Thanks for the reply.

Based on your response, it seems that the display driver has been corrupted by a reason, then I suggest you to install the latest display driver. Even if you do not use Direct 3D I recommended to leave the computer updated with the latest drivers that are released by the manufacturer of the computer so that it can run Windows features correctly.

Hope the helps of information. Please post back and we do know.

  • Cannot run the screen saver because it requires a newer video card or one that is compataible with Direct3D. Hotfix does not work/run

    I am running windows 7 ultimate, 64-bit, SP1

The screen savers say they can't run, they need a new video card, or a compatible with direct3d.

I ran the fix.  The issue is pending. Hotfix: KB2159238

    http://support.Microsoft.com/kb/2159238

All of the video drivers are up to date and they support Direct3D.

Seems a lot of people have this issue - how to fix? Yet once again, the fix does not work (says "this update is not applicable to your computer")

    Hello Dave,

    Thank you for your response.

I appreciate your time and your concern.

It is normal that the fix is made for the Windows 7 version without service pack 1.

I hope you can try the following methods provided in the previous post.

However, if the problem persists, I suggest you to uninstall and reinstall display drivers.

    Step 1:
    Uninstall the display driver.

    a. Click Start, type Device Manager in the start search box and press ENTER.
    b. expand 'graphics', right-click on the map and click Uninstall.
    c. restart the computer, if the prompt message.

    Step 2:
Install the latest driver to display from this link:
    http://66.226.78.22/DownloadSite/drivers/Intel/VGA/VGA (v15.33.31.64.3993) .zip

  • How to activate a second video card?

I bought my laptop with an upgrade to a NVIDIA GeForce GT 525 M video card. After you download an architectural program, the program said that it detects both 2 video cards. The manufacturer of the program said that the video card, I use Intel(r) HD Graphics Family, is not powerful enough for the graphic design of the program. and I have to activate the NVIDIA card. I had no idea I was not running with the GeForce card I have speced. How can I go on the activation of the card NVIDIA I want to use, and disable the other?

    Hi GoldJr,

As a first step, you need to connect the cable from the monitor to the new video card and check if it helps.

If the problem persists, you then need to enable from BIOS, for this you need to contact the computer manufacturer for assistance.
