How to import old .dbx portable again?

When my old laptop crashed I got the "Geek Squad" in the context of the transmission of data, take my information from Outlook Express (email, folders with e-mails and address book) and put it in a folder on the computer desktop to my new laptop. I assumed that I would be able to import them into my new Windows Live Mail program but Windows wants to know what program created them and won't allow me to import into Windows Live Mail. I could go on the Comcast server and to make the most of them and reconstruct my address book, but there are important emails in OE files that I can't access. Is there a way toretrieve them?

Bruce: I knew it well enough, but when buying the thing I just gave in to the temptation to move quickly and thought they could handle something like this simply enough. It's not like they have never dealt with before Outlook Express problems. Or have they? In any case, now, I'm stuck I think.

A fairly knowledgeable friend think we are able to load Outlook and put them in this and then import them from there. We'll see.

In any case, thanks for trying.

Steve

DBX files won't import without Folders.dbx present in any program. This is what should have the Geek Squad.

Transfer of data from Outlook Express and Windows Live Mail:

For Messages:

Copy the * ENTIRE * OE message store folder to a flash drive. (Folders.dbx must be included). Place it on the desktop or another location on the computer using WLMail. Open WLMail and: file | Import | Messages | Microsoft Outlook Express 6, and the point where it was saved.

Location of OE message store:

In OE: Tools | Options | Maintenance | Store folder will reveal the location of your Outlook Express files. Note the location and navigate on it in Explorer Windows or, copy and paste in start | Run.

In Windows XP, Win2K & Win2K3 the OE user files (DBX and WAB) are by default marked as hidden. To view these files in Windows Explorer, you must enable Show hidden files and folders under start | Control Panel | Folder Options icon | Opinion, or in Windows Explorer. Tools | Folder options | View.

It is no surprise to me that the Geek Squad was distraught. Is your Win7 Pro, enterprise or ultimate edition? If so, you can download XP Mode and have Outlook Express. If it is an option, you can manually import the dbx files in the Outlook Express and the copy of the message save folder as described above for transfer to WLMail.

There is also a tool for retrieving messages in dbx files, but there is no guarantee, and is not free.

  • How to import a dbx file unique to Windows Live Mail?

I imported my files of dbx to Outlook Express 6 for WLM (Windows 7) last month, but a valuable record has been lost due to corruption. Now, I discovered a forgotten dbx backup that I'm desperate to add to WLM7, but it does not recognize the dbx file. All the advice I have read, says that you can import all OE6 files and folders at once, and that it does not recognize simple records. There is no work around for this? I'm desperate to import this file, but do not want to lose all my other imported files making.

    Help, please!

The reason why you can not get imported WLMail dbx files is because Folders.dbx must be included in the backup. Manually recover dbx files in OE, you can export them.

  • How to import old JDeveloper settings

I just install JDeveloper version 12.1.3.0.41.140521.1008 and I am trying to import the settings from my previous version (11.1.2.2).

In the dialog box, some versions are found, so I navigate using the magnifying glass.

The previous version that I have been the launch is located here:

    C:\oracle\JDev11.1.2.2\jdeveloper\jdeveloper.exe

In the migration dialogue ("JDeveloper select installation) I tried to browse the following directories to import my settings, and each time the dialog box States"click Yes to copy the preferences of version (null) " in the current installation.".

    1. C:\oracle\JDev11.1.2.2\
    2. C:\oracle\JDev11.1.2.2\jdeveloper\
    3. C:\oracle\JDev11.1.2.2\jdeveloper\jdev

Under "Facilities JDeveloper available", it shows nothing in each case.

How can I take this facility to import preferences?

    ImportPreferencesDialog.jpg

    BrowseDialog.jpg

Migration is looking for the file systemxx.x.x.x. Neither the records you marked in your first post contains this system folder.

Find the folder system of the old version (How to find and give system11.x.x.x for JDeveloper installation file |) Goodies JDev ADF &) and select this option to get her preferences. You can store other values of the old version (which are not read in the system folder) too. Check record (most) changes to the JDeveloper IDE. Goodies JDev ADF & for this.

  • How to import old emails having accidentally deleted the email account?

I have deleted my thunderbird e-mail account and now cannot access the mails I received. I'm trying to find them on the computer and import them, but don't know how to do. I use thunderbird on windows 8.1. Any help is appreciated!

If you have deleted the email account, then it is expected that you wouldn't see emails. So there is nothing wrong with this part.

It is possible to recover a deleted account.

If you have an IMAP email account you simply re-create the IMAP account as e-mail messages are stored on the server and IMAP e-mail accounts have a remote view directories on the server.

If you had a Pop e-mail account, e-mail messages are download from the server Inbox for the email account Thunderbird Inbox. By default, they download, and then delete the copy on the server. So now the only copy in your computer. You can set it up so that emails are not deleted from the server. Tools > account settings > server settings for pop mail account Select "Leave messages on the server" click OK

Note: If you have an account and you want to remove it, but you always want to see e-mail messages, you need to move e-mails in local folders first and then delete the account.

How to recover a deleted email account.

This link tells you how to recover the account. But I described the process below.

First check emails exist make hidden folders and files visible:

    In Thunderbird
    Help > troubleshooting information
Click on the view file"" button.

A new window opens to display the your profile folder.
    Click on "Mail".
Click on the name of pop e-mail account (if it does not exist, then they are gone).
Note its name and where it is located. In general: C:\Users\UserName\AppData\Roaming\Thunderbird\Profiles\profile name\Mail\pop mail account name of the folder.

This will show you all the folders listed as "files", they don't have any extension. Thus, for example: you will see the Inbox (email containing) and Inbox.msf (indexing file - no email).

You can open the Inbox folder using Notepad to see the emails.

Assuming that the account and emails are still there: close the window.

In Thunderbird: Create a new pop e-mail account by using the same parameters as the one you deleted.
File > new > account mail Exisitng

Now to the point the mail account created to use the e-mail account deleted.
Tools > account settings > server to the newly created pop e-mail account settings.
    lower-right look for "local directory".
    Click on the button "Browse".
Locate your original pop email account and click Open
In general it is located here:
C:\Users\UserName\AppData\Roaming\Thunderbird\Profiles\profile folder name\Mail\pop mail account name.

    Click OK

Before, I made a slideshow with the media from the drive. I just started using elements 13 I used windows live previously for videos. Can you let me know also what photoshop elements or first, you use the most.  Also if I import video files in why do I see them I think of thumbnails. • I have several .dbx files stored in a directory on a Windows 8. How to import them to my mail application?

I configured my Gmail account in my Mail application.  As, I exported my Outlook Express files and stored these .dbx files in a directory on my PC in Windows 8.  To import the .dbx files, I have read that I have to go in my WinMail application and select File--> Import Messages (by selecting the format of OE 6), import them from the directory in which they are stored, navigate to that directory, select the .dbx files and import them.

However, the Mail app doesn't have the file--> import feature, or at least I can't locate.  Can someone advise please how I can perform this function in the Mail application?  Thank you.

    John

My DBXpress program retrieves messages from the dbx (www.oehelp.com/DBXpress/) files.  You can then get my ceml program (free - www.oehelp.com/ceml/) to read.  Otherwise, you will need to get a 3rd mail program (e.g. Thunderbird, Windows Live Mail, Outlook) group to import the files and read them.  The Mail App in Win8 will not read them.

    Hi,

I will definitely pass your comments along to the team.
