  If you have the copyright © symbol to work for you with Alt + 0169, I think Alt + 0176, you should get the degree symbol as in 32 °.

  Check the police - probably that you chose a character that is not available in the font that you selected in Photoshop.

  You must choose a font that has the character (glyph) you want to use. It's easy on a Mac if you use the following steps:

  (1) in system preferences > language & text > input methods, turn on the keyboard Viewer & character (at the top of the list).

  (2) open the Viewer from characters in the menulet at the top of your screen:

  

  (3) in the viewer of characters, Unicode and select the Unicode value:

  

  (4) select one of the variants fonts on the right and watch the police with this glyph:

  

  (5) back to InDesign and open the glyphs Panel (Type > glyphs). In the menu, select the font, in this case charcoal CY. In the glyphs for this font menu, select symbols. Double-click to insert the symbol.

  

  (6) in order to reuse the glyph, include it in a set of glyphs.

  The only other option is to use the virtual keyboard in combination with the laptop keyboard.  You can search online to see a lot of different proposals, rather than posting me here.  Here's just one of the examples.

  He's not that kind of editor. You can use the characters in a font. If you can select a font with the emoji, which fits into the case, and then enter the characters, it can work.
