How to install the raid without floppy drive drivers

I am building my own computer and I want to run Win XP Pro SP3 and Windows 7 64-bit.  The only reason why I'm eager to keep XP is that several of my old programs that I use, are not compatible with Windows 7.  I know that XP is sometimes "fussy" about installation on SATA disks and requires the F6 install drivers.  The motherboard that I use does not support floppy drive.

Motherboard.  ASUS P8Z68-V LX

Processor: INTEL: i5 - 2500K

Hard drive: Western Digital - Caviar Black 750 GB WD7502AAEX

I saw a couple of internal and external USB floppy drives, but I'm not sure that they will work the first time during installation.

Any suggestion?

Thanks in advance,

Hi Robert,.

    I'll put win xp tomorrow, as far as I can remember I will be asked to insert a floppy with additional RAID/SCSI drivers - I guess I need some drivers for XP see my RAID stripe.

    I was able to download 'raid-drv-qog20-xp - 1380.zip', but I'm afraid to look if my laptop has a floppy drive... How can I add the driver did not have a floppy drive?

    Hello

    Maybe a stupid comment, but if you can buy Qosmio G30 I presume that you can also get a used floppy disk. I did this a few times with Vista and Qosmio G30 and it works well.

    Check eBay. You will get the drive used for a few euros. Otherway tries to create CDs and if the RAID drive must travel to ODD, I didn't try because I have a FDD, but you can test it on your Qosmio.

    Hello

    You can install the graphics driver for the Intel page using an advanced installation.

    -First of all, you will need to access the Device Manager.
    -Select the graphics card and choose Update driver.
    -Then select Install from a list or specific location (Advanced)
    -Don t find. I will choose the driver to install.
    -Point the downloaded driver

    This should help you to install the Intel driver. But note; not all Toshiba drivers can be installed only at your own risk!

  • How to install the 'real' Microsoft Bluetooth Driver for Windows 7

    I'm a developer.  My system uses Bluetooth and is designed to use socket connections.  It works very well with the 'real' driver for Microsoft.  I distribute a USB radio that works with the real Microsoft drivers (work and tested on Windows 7 with the Microsoft drivers installed) I continue to turn in computers with OEM (non-Microsoft drivers) taking control of all Bluetooth devices.  In XP and Vista I could usually update the driver and choose the right pair.  I find computers on which Microsoft drivers seem to be missing and so I can't select them in Windows 7.  It may also be that Windows 7 is not allowing me to choose (tells them best driver already installed).  Is somewhere to download and a way to install native drivers Microsoft Bluetooth of Windows 7 on an OEM modified system that does not include these drivers?

  • Configure the ASM without ORACLEASM drives

    Guys,

    I found that right for your perticular kernel asmlib is a PAIN. (I also came to know Oracle dsnt predict asmlib rhel 6)

    Finally, we can find those, but can any 1 share knowledge how to configure the asm without Asmlib drives?

    I mean I dnt want to use/usr/sbin/oracleasm createdisk/dev/sdb5 (like this)

    Now if you ask me what operating system, my OS is RHEL 6.3, but I would like to know for all versions of configuration asmlib.

    DB: 11.2.0

    Which records exactly? Local? NAS? SAN? Single path of I/O? Multiple I/O paths?

    The Linux kernel will automatically enumerate all devices h/w - and udev to create entries of device for these devices. Then all devices scsi for devices SAN/NAS/local lands in tree in/dev automatically.

    However, the device names are not static (not even local devices as a new drive added to the server may have an impact of the names of existing devices). So in general, the names of devices directly deprecated. Same fstab/etc/fstab of the kernel utilisΘ string of identifier.

    If you have multiple path i/o devices, the multipath driver should be used.

    If you have devices path of single e/s (e.g. NAS/iscsi), then you can do the following.

    1. Identify devices using lsscsi
    2. Use fdisk to create one (for example partition 4) partition on the disk, and then assign him da (Non-FSdata) partition type. This allows you to identify via the number of partition storage devices (i.e. all 4 partition are storage). The partition type is a safeguard against accidental to mount the partition as a file system.
    3. Create a udev rule to call for partition devices 4:
      file #: /etc/udev/rules.d/99-oracle-asmdevices.rules
      KERNEL == "sd * 4", BUS == "scsi"PROGRAM="/etc/udev/scripts/localdev.sh %b", SYMBOLIC link += "asm / $result", OWNER = "grid", GROUP = "oinstall", MODE = "0660" "
    4. Create a udev script that will create a special link to device ASM to ASM to use, for example
    #!/bin/sh
    # file:         /etc/udev/scripts/localdev.sh
    # descr: outputs logical device name for a local asm scsi target

    TAG="[scsi]"
    BUS=${1}
    DRIVE=`echo "$BUS" |  sed 's/://g'`

    targetname=disk-${DRIVE}

    logger -t $TAG -- "/etc/udev/scripts/localdev.sh bus=$* target=$targetname"

    echo "${targetname}"
    #eof

    So when a partition device 4 is detected, a device entry is created for in/dev/asm. I used a very simplistic device (drive-busid) naming scheme. You can get the WWID of the device and assign more readable names.

    You now discovery point ASM string drive in /dev/asm / *.

    Once you enter the basics above (it is not that the resort), you can get very creative with how you want to identify the devices for ASM usage - and how you create and name (symbolic link) of the names of devices for ASM.

  • Portege M400: Installtion Windows - cannot install the RAID driver

    Hello world
    I installed my original form of the system DVD Toshiba (60 GB partition).
    So, I bought the second system with my notebook (Windows XP Pro OEM PL) and I want to install it on my second partition. When installing WinXP installer asked me about RAID driver on drive A: (I USB floppy drive, so it's no problem)... next step - partitioning - no problem. But when Windows starts to copy files (after select and format partition), ask again on RAID driver disk A: - and that is the problem, because my floppy drive is not present (maybe disable it windows after formatting the partition, I don't know)...
    There is also no results:
    -J' tried to install Windows on USB HDD, but there are blue screen after the first reboot,.
    -J' have tried to compile the RAID driver in driver.cab, this does not (or I did wrong).
    Someone has an idea how to install my second system? It is OEM, and I don't want to lose him.
    .. Sorry for my poor English :)...

    Hello

    After installing the driver RAID you should not make any partition or format the HARD drive.
    If you do this, the RAID driver is deleted and you will get an error.

    So do all the changes on the HARD disk before you install the RAID driver.

  • How to install the driver LAN for Satellite Pro A120

    In fact, my problem is that I didn't know how to install the driver on my Satellite Pro A120 lan connect net throug.
    The issue that there's no facility to do to complete the installation.

    And theres other question that I need the Ethernet controller

    My laptop was vista operating system installed, but I change and put Windows XP

    Please help me

    Hello

    LAN installation is very easy.
    First of all, you need the correct LAN driver.
    In order to download the LAN driver please visit the Toshiba driver page and choose your model of laptop.

    Once the LAN driver has been downloaded, you will need to decompress.
    Then you will need to access the Device Manager, choose the controller Ethernet (network cards) and must point to the place where the LAN driver was decompressed.

    Then finish the installation procedure.

    Tools & Utilities CD does not work with Win7,

    Hello

    I m wondering that you have installed Windows 7 on this good old classic. In my opinion Windows XP would be the best choice, but ok, you can do what you want ;)

    Anyway, AFAIK your laptop is equipped with an Intel graphics card then I recommend to download the driver form Intel directly because the Web from Toshiba site displays only the Windows XP display drivers.

  • How do I create an ASR without floppy drive?

    as you know all computers are more equipped with floppy drives.
    any help is appreciated.

    The answer to the original question is:

    You do not have.

    If you are using in relying on the built in NT backup to back up your system, it is the primitive technology (because he wants obviously - a floppy disk).  If you have a disaster (even minor), you'll have a big problem.

    If you want to make a backup, it is logical to use modern technology - and it is not integrated with XP.

    There are many popular options for XP Backup and imaging software (s) of third parties.

    A people a popular seem to love East of Acronis.

    With this (free 30 day trial) you save, make a bootable CD or USB bootable (which is modern, huh?) and use disaster.

    They used to have a completely free version - maybe no more - just the trial, then you must buy it, but it is highly respected.

    It is so much more robust than the XP Backup, it's laughable.

    Many other options if you do a little research on Google...

    Here are a few products that PML suggested could be appealing:

    Macrium Reflect
    Paragon backup and restore
