How to install workstation on ubuntu platform

How to install workstation on ubuntu platform?

When I download the packge, the packge is 'VMware-Workstation-Full - 9.0.2 - 1031769.i386.txt.

How do I install it on ubuntu system?

packge installition of Ubuntu is "xxx.deb", so I don't know how to install it. "

Someone at - it install on ubuntu?

Pls tell about your experience.

Thank you.

Once you have downloaded the correct file as WoodyZ said VMware-Workstation-Full - 9.0.2 - 1031769.i386.bundle be sure to

run $chmod + x VMware-Workstation-Full - 9.0.2 - 1031769.i386.bundle to make the binary executable.  Then you can run

$sudo. / VMware-Workstation-Full - 9.0.2 - 1031769.i386.bundle

You can try to move the .txt file to a .bundle file but I would not advise at least maybe the md5sum was identical to the published version. But you should checksum download anyway so why take that chance?

I have a HP Deskjet 3520 e-ALL-IN-ONE. Was able to install the printer in Ubuntu 12.04. But do not know how to install the scanner. I checked this link http://hplipopensource.com/node/190. But who doesn't say how to add the scanner. No idea how to install a Scanner in Ubuntu 12.04.

    Pcwizard thanks for the reply.

I thought about it myself. Just had to install the latest package of linux drivers and was then just update the package XSane. Once done, I was able to open XSane and scan documents. Works without any problem.

Also you can check which version of the driver is required for the printer from this link.

  • How to install VMware Tools on Ubuntu 9.10 guest?

    Hello!

I have VMware 6.5.3 for Windows. I installed Ubuntu 9.10 32-bit and I don't know how to install tools guest inside Linux. Guest Windows, it's a blink of an eye, but here are more complicated. Can someone help me with step by step tutorial how to install this on Ubuntu 9.10? I'm newbie here.

When I click the button to install the tools I just get open File Browser with the file .txt, RPM and gz. Any file I click on I can't run Setup. Please help!

It's a little more complicated because each OS has a core (all about that), and Linux, you can have different versions of kernel.  Thus, the shell script (files ending in .sh) compiles all the binaries against what you have.  I believe that the version of Ubuntu has headers of the kernel with it, so that you would do is:

    1. go to places, downloads (the desktop menu bar)

    2. find your gz file, right click and select Extract here (I normally do it from the command-line using tar - zxvf, but this should work too)

    3. open this directory, right-click on the vmware-install file and select "Run as a program" (in this way you can kick it off)

    4. open a terminal (command prompt) and cd to that directory (should be cd downloads/vmware-tools-distrib)

    5. Type sudo./vmware-install.sh

    6. Enter your password when prompted, then go with the default values, and you should be set.  Make sure to run the configuration script (it will ask you if you want to, and you do, but if you mess up that part you can run it later so no biggie) and then sign out and sign back in.  You should not need to reboot and everything should work immediately.

At boot, you might see no ERROR.  It's probably the HGFS mount is not working due to no shared directories.  Don't worry about this for now.  If it bugs you, you can comment on him in/etc/fstab (but don't mess with it until you're a bit better).  Snapshots are your friend, so use it as your rescue as trash several times your VM Linux, because it will happen.

To add the tools to start, try to add the entries you need to preferences-> Sessions-> startup programs

A new message with details on how to accomplish this would be a very good thing, because this application is a lot around here.

Could someone be so kind and tell how to install Ubuntu 8.10 without having to lose the ability to restore the system (for MS vista) during an emergency?

I also read on the internet of Wubi and you?

Wubi is an officially Ubuntu install for Windows. Wubi allows you to only install Ubuntu as a Windows application, in a simple and safe way.

  • I downloaded FF4, how do I install it on Ubuntu LTS 10.04.2?

I downloaded the last FF, how do I install it on Ubuntu LTS 10.04.2?
I unpacked in my downloads folder, but can't get the installer to recognize.

My current version of FF is: 3.6.17/1.0 for Ubuntu.

If you have the binary file, then you just extract it in / opt, however, you can add repositories of package which is the cleanest most built-in way to do. I suggest you follow this guide http://www.omgubuntu.co.uk/2011/03/firefox-4-ppa-for-ubuntu-10-04-and-10-10-users/ it worked wonderfully for me.

  • How to install the new BIOS for Satellite Pro M50 under Ubuntu

I am running Ubuntu on my M50 Pro. Could someone advise me what is the latest BIOS and how to install it?

The update of the BIOS here site seems havean exe file but I couldn't see the BIOS file to the breast?

    Thank you

Why do you want to update the BIOS?
You have any big trouble with your laptop?

The European driver Toshiba page provides BIOS BIOS for Vista and XP.
Both versions of the BIOS must be completed while the operating system is running!

If you use Linux on your laptop, you will not be able to update the BIOS!
    Do you understand?

Once again; Updated the BIOS should be carried out ONLY if it of absolutely necessary. In other cases don't update!

  • 12.0.0 Workstation install fails on Ubuntu Linux 16.04 (4.4.0 - 28 generic) [service failing vmmon; updated vmware kernel module]

    Hi guys,.

I'm really excited to go with VMware Workstation on a new install of Ubuntu (16.04).  Planning watch GNS3 VMs and vagabond for Docker VMs integration among other things.  Since the two vmware workstation and linux/ubuntu are mature, I really expected that I would have any problem with the installation.

I was a bit dismayed when the 12 workstation installation failed on a new installation of 16.04.  It seems that the VMware Kernel Module Updater step and specifically the Virtual Machine Monitor is the problem.

Can someone help with the steps required for a successful installation of 12 Workstation on Ubuntu 16.04 please?

Details of my attempt and a quick fix to follow.

    Please help, thanks!

    Greg

    Hi there =)

Just for brevity, the "Monitor" is in fact what we call the hypervisor itself. We call the LCD screens "poster".

So it's probably an incompatibility of which is just to be around the GPU kernel module, but it could have been any kernel module.

    Thanks for sharing your success!
