I have to click twice on the touch pad and also click and hold to move things. Also can't use right click on the files.

  Do you use the preinstalled original Win8.1 64-bit, that you got with your machine?

  I mean the factory settings, everything should work fine, and I guess you don't l t notice this issue from day one.
  At this point I just can you suggest checking the properties of the mouse (touchpad) and make sure that everything is set correctly.

  If you mean your taskbar, then right click on an empty spot in the taskbar and uncheck "lock the taskbar". Then left-click on it and push the button by dragging the bar to the bottom of your screen. Release the left button and then right click on the empty space again and check 'lock the taskbar '.

  My situation; I'm filming me as 2 characters in 1 shot.  I have 2 clips with the same game.  In a clip, I am sitting on the left, in the other, I sat to the right.  I would like to combine them into a single element where half a clip left combines with half right on the other.  It is slightly different from the next, cutaway and image in the image.  Is this possible in imovie?  Help appreciated, thanks.

  You will not be able to combine half a clip with half left right of the another clip using the cropping features of iMovie video.    However, you may be able to do it using Quicktime.  What you need to do is to crop each clip so that it plays in less than full screen.  In other words, a clip that you just want to the left to play and the other clip just on the right side.  Then you could combine clips in iMovie using side by side.

  Before proceeding to any culture, first you want to duplicate your clips and work with the duplicates if you keep your original recordings.   Once you've duplicated, try the following steps on each clip using Quicktime to crop on the right or left side as needed:

  

  Now you should have two clips, one that plays only the left side and one that plays only the right side.  You should be able to import it into iMovie and use the side by side feature combine them seamlessly.   At least, I think it works.

  Create a new object based on any style and apply it to your text frames, it should fix the problem.

  We have lots of databases, legacy to new. We have oracle, sybase, sqlserver, mysql, access, informix, etc.. These databases have been driven by the various partners of 3rd party applications that we bought that has chosen its database. Since I am an Oracle DBA, and are the most critical applications in Oracle DB, I have recommended to management that we use uniform database to use Oracle and all others migrate to it.

  The management asked me to justify the benefits of a uniform database. They said that these different applications where built on the platform of database different for security reasons so that users of other applications can not hack of each other systems.

  How can I refute this belief? Or can it be more secure in a uniform Oracle database?

  Hi Petra,

  If you make a pooling of databases (set databases on servers less than before), you may have a financial justification here by reducing the number of servers.

  You could also insist on the fact that the more different RDBMS that they have, the more skills they will need to maintain their servers. And as one people might have no expertise in all types of databases, you will need more people with a uniform environment.

  I agree that the point of security issues is not a real point because you'll have the most different database systems, the ways to enter will provide to any attacker.

  Another point to check is to get all the advantages and disadvantages of each database and see how would cause a problem in your environment.

  You should also point out that migration to oracle DB will provide (diagnosis using AWR, backup management easy with RMAN, high availability with RAC, etc..)

  But be careful when you try to migrate all the DB to an RDBMS that is unique, because the applications will certainly be changed so that they work with Oracle, representing a cost (sometimes huge)

  Sometimes it isn't a good idea to migrate to a single RDBMS at all costs. Many companies keep at least 2 or 3 RDBMS, each having a specific use.

  For example, very critical and hudge databases Oracle, small MySQL databases, more big but no criticism of postgreSQL or MS SQL database.

  I'm afraid there is no correct answer for this question, but what usually decides the managers are based on the costs of justifications.

  If I were you, I wouldn't treat this issue worldwide. (Even if I would have the overall goal in mind)
