How to know if your host is 64-bit compatible without a reboot?

Hey guys, what is the best way to determine if a host is 64-bit compatible without restarting it and go into the bios?

Respectfully,.

Matthew

Kaizen!

Try it without the *.  I just did this on the same host that CVS has declared incompatible and one, it's all good.

Good:

esxcfg-info - w | grep HV

|----HV Support............................................... 3

Bad:

esxcfg-info - w | grep HV

|----HV Support............................................... 2

    Hello

How could I know if my computer is up to date with windows updates?
I would accept a computer on a virtual private network computers that want to connect have their updated windows update.
How could I check that? a key value in the registry? access to a database?

Thanks a lot for your help

    Hi tofke22,

Thank you for using answers Forum.

You can check if your computer if up-to-date by checking the Windows Update control panel section and see if updates are available.

However, if you want to know if a person who connects to you via the VPN is in common with their updates, the only method that I know would ask them. There is not a way to check the status of update a PC without having access to the office.

    I hope this helps.

  • How to know if your laptop is really new?

    HY everybody!

today (28/04/2016) I bought a new laptop from lenovo and started it. When I put up the guarantee, he said that the activation of the guarantee date was 2016/02/05. What does that mean?

Well, that's the date of construction. When he was generally. But if it has been already registered, then you wouldn't be able to get his change from the date of your invoice.

    Contact Lenovo support for check.

  • How do know if I install a 64 BIT OS on a machine currently running XP?

I have a machine that currently has a version of Windows XP Pro x 86 on it and I was wondering how tell you if computer hardware is capable of managing a 64-bit operating system.  Any ideas?

Click Start-> run and type cmd, and then press ENTER.

    Inside the prompt, type systeminfo

You will see something like this:

    Processor (s): 1 processor installed.
    [01]: Intel64 family 6 model 23 Stepping 7 GenuineIntel ~ 2500 Mhz

That should tell you whether or not you have a x 64 CPU.

You can take a look at the section aboutInfo using either the apiType the difference between the host ESX (i) and vCenter - http://pubs.vmware.com/vsphere-50/index.jsp?topic=/com.vmware.wssdk.apiref.doc_50/vim.AboutInfo.html

If you need to figure out if its an ESX, ESXi host, etc. then you can use productLineId

  • Suddenly cannot send mail. Message 4.7.1: Recipient address rejected: rejection policy - your host has been blacklisted for e-mail abuse.

When I try to send a message an error box apperars:

An error occurred while sending mail. The mail server responded:
4.7.1 < ***@***.com >: recipient address rejected: rejection policy - your host has been blacklisted for e-mail abuse. Please configure your email client to use authentication SASL - contact support if in doubt how...

Please check the message recipient "*********@******.com" and try again.

This happened while I was sending about #3 4 or 5 that I must send. Nothing I know has been changed has been changed! I have downloaded the latest version while I was in the program.

This seems to be a message from a server. The word 'host' is not clear to me. In the language of networking, it can mean your own computer, but more generally, it could mean your ISP provider or by e-mail.

Anyway, this means that something has decided that you are, or are on a network that has been identified as a source of spam. I suggest that ask you this from your ISP.

  • Can be completely protected from infecting your host PC if you are running in a virtual machine?

I would like to know if you can run a virtual machine and keep the invincible host against malware. What are the best practices to configure such an environment? How to share data between the host and the virtual machines and still stay safe?

Nope, it will be some protection for your host PC, but not a complete protection.  Many viruses can travel on a local network and infect "nearby" machines and your host would be a.  You must use the same computer security practices in a virtual machine as you would in a real machine.

  • How to upgrade an ESXi host from the command line

Sorry for bumping an old thread. I'm new to ESXi. I'm under ESXi 5.5 build 1331820 and I am at a loss how to apply patches.

Preferably, I would like to apply all the relevant patches through console (SSH). Can someone give me pointers how to do this? Thank you

Moderator note (a.p.): branched to a new discussion of software patch to version 1331820?

    Welcome to the community,

on how to patch a ESXi host from the command line, please see for example http://kb.vmware.com/kb/2008939

Basically download you the latest hotfix package and install it using the command esxcli . That said, please make sure that your hardware is supported by the patch that you want to apply (see http://www.vmware.com/go/hcl). You can also do before installing the patch, is to do a "dry - run" to know what . VIBS are removed and which are installed by the patch. To do this add -dry - run to the esxcli command line.

In the case where something goes wrong, you can revert to the previous state by pressing SHIFT-R , while the ESXi hosts begins the start-up.

  • How will I know if it's a 32-bit or a 64-bit browser?

While trying to install Java Runtime Environment Plugin, I was asked this:

    Should what download I choose?

Choose the 32-bit download to use with a 32-bit browser.
Choose the 64-bit download to use with a 64-bit browser.
If you use 32-bit and 64-bit browsers, you need to download Java 32 - bit and 64 - bit.

    So, how can I know if it's a 32-bit or a 64-bit browser?

Still, versions of Firefox from mozilla.org , including the current 37.0.2 is Win32.

So you need 32-bit Plugins for firefox Win32.

The 38.0 Firefox may be the first version to be built with Win32 Win64.

The WOW64 in your Firefox useragent is a Win32 on Windows 64-bit application.

There are several ways that you can potentially solve this problem. Restore the phone via iTunes would probably be easier, use iTunes to restore the iPhone, iPad or iPod to factory settings - Apple Support

This article will show you how to restore through iTunes.

How to back up your device using iCloud or iTunes - Apple Support

I would use the link above to save your phone before you restore it so that you don't lose all your data and then restore the backup to the phone to see if the space is always taken to the top.

    I hope this helps.
