How to make a new partition on the HARD drive?

I have 500 GB of HARD drive (internal) in my Notebook.It has only 3 still drives. Among them, drive C = F - 107 .through 226 GB, E - 118 gb disk management, I've seen 2 discs unaccessable, is to saythe recovery-13, & system-approximately 1 GB.
However there is a recovery partition, I stand by that, that I did earlier recovery disks, unpartition & free space & create a new partition with my senses affected discs.
How can I do this? Anyone... plzzzzzzzz...

Another question... Can I make bootable USB drive on this recovery drive? If Yes... How?

It is a soft, easy to use, tool

No need Calculator :)

Recovery partitions are usually in front of the C drive and should not be tempered with / recovery disk or not.

    Hello.

I had to use the recovery disk, and I deleted by mistake my (two) initials of the partitions on the HARD drive. : ((now, I have only one.

Can someone tell me how I can fix this?
    I want 2 partitions, not one. x 10

The Toshiba Recovery CD could create two partitions.
The installer will ask where or how install the OS on the HARD drive.

For example, the HARD disk supports 100GB. So you can choose the first 60 GB for installing the OS and the difference (40 GB) could be activated after the installation of the OS.

This can be done in the management of the computer-> disk management.

  • How to create a second partition on the hard drive?

    Hello to all members!

I recently got some virus on my laptop. So I had to use my recovery cd to recover my system.
Now the problem is that I have asked me for the partition where are the files are being extracted. I scored at 30 GB.
Thus, windows works fine but do not appear my rest of 50 GB.
I thought that the recovery cd will make a second partition as well, but he did not. Now how some other partitions?
Second question related to the first is how long I can use this recovery disk. I mean windows will remain genuine?

For the problem of the partition, I don't know of a few possible solutions of cause that I had need of three partitions, 30 GB 1st (Windows default) and two others of 25 GB.
The best Solution to come in my mind is to make any windows ME or 98 bootable cd and run fdisk to create the remaining partitions.
But's done it some new questions in my mind. Do I have to use a recovery again cd? If so I don't use this process causes once again he'll wonder partition extract windows files and I will choose 30 GB again.
And again, it will remove additional partitions.

Please, help me and erase the questions coming in my mind...

  • How to "create a new folder on the hard drive?

I have a printer Hp 648 with a W98 CD, that will not work for XP.  To download the XP driver on the HP site, the first step is to create as above.  Do not have any idea how I can do this and can't find anything in help.  Must be a folder that begins with c:\.

On C:?  In run, type in "c:".  Explorer will open and you will be in the root directory, alias 'hard drive' c:.  You can then make a record here.  You know how to do this, right?  Thus, the file will be located at c:\hithereiamafolder.  Very easy.  Type c:.  Make the folder.

  • loss of partition when adding a new partition on the hard drive

Under XP SP3, I have connected a HDD backup (1, 5 to) where there was a single logical partition, split into two units of 500 GB each.

They were regularly mounted and functional, with their assigned letter (E and F). I decided to add and create a last 500 GB partition.

For example, in disk management, I right click the empty space and following the wizard I accepted the default values (64 k just set as block size) and quick format. Put the label and agreed to assign the letter G.

I came very soon with a primary partition (outside of the logical, green box) with the letter G. HOWEVER, the second partition disappeared, it became a green filled rectangle saying that it is a free space to allocate.

So I find myself with E and G. I have connected the drive to another pc and still the same.

Is there a solution to this (u imagine how I feel...) or everyone has experienced something like this? How to recover data now? I think and hope that it is a corruption of the pt, but how can it happen?

Sorry to be long, I'm very confused with xp and his unexpected behavior.

Thank you for reading and possibly tips, Bravo ricardo

TestDisk may be able to recover the logical drive in the extended partition.

  • New Partition on the hard drive

I have hp g42-459tu with win7, 4 GB ram and 500 GB hard drive.
But theres only one partition... so I wanted to create a new partition by reducing the volume... I have c: drive successfully shrunk and created 240 GB unallocated space...
Then, when I tried to do a new volume that a msg came to say something on... This action will turn the disk from basic to dynamic disk and you will not be able to boot your operating system

Please be generous enough to hit the button star Bravo if you liked the answer *.

If you delete the partition that you created, you should be able to convert all the back to the base, at the same time, following the instructions in the 2nd link I posted.

Once they are converted into basic read the first link I posted to convert the partition C for 'LOGIC', then you can format the partition that you created as the primary database.

  • Equium L350 - 11 d - how do I delete the second partition on the HARD drive

How can I delete the second partition that came with the laptop, so I can use the full capacity of computers HARD drive?

I feel that this partition is their because I have not created a DVD of recovery he would remove the partition once I created the recovery DVDs.

The score contains a folder of HARD disk RECOVERY and in the folder says do not delete or change this folder or files.

    I have a Toshiba Equium L350 - 11 d

As you have already said that the second partition contains the HDD Recovery folder if you would remove this partition you will not be able to create the recovery DVD and would not be able to recover the laptop HARD drive.

Therefore, you must create the DVD before recovery would remove anything from the second partition on the HARD drive.

After you create the DVD recovery successfully, you could remove the partition and could add the free space on the HARD disk on the first partition.
This can be done on disk management!

  • Help a fool please ~ deleted partition, lost the hard drive size

I'll try my best to make this as clear as possible, thank you for your time...

Received my free copy of windows 7 home Premium

Wanted a clean install (not an upgrade)

Back up all the data and the programs that I installed

During the installation of win 7, I deleted the recovery of the system partition and the 2nd partition of my HARD disk (has been labeled d, came that sort of lenovo factory, had 70 GB size I think)

I thought that if I deleted the partition of the hard drive space would be added to the 1st partition and it did not

Have materialized with the installation of win 7, and now I just have never found my C: and the GBs of the 2nd old partition so its as if I lowered my total HARD disk size

How can I get my C: to have all of the 320 GB? Thanks for any advice!

You can allocate the unused disk space as follows.

    Start > run > diskmgmt.msc

Right-click on the Windows partition [should be C] and click on "expand". Extend partition as needed and enjoy.

    Hello

Step 2: You can also check if the problem persists in the clean boot state.

Put your boot system helps determine if third-party applications or startup items are causing the problem.

Try the steps in step 1 in the article to put your computer in clean boot mode.

  • How much better the partition of the HARD drive for dual boot: Windows 8 and Linux

    Hello

I am a newbie in Windows 8, linux, Partition...

I want to use my new laptop with windows 8 pre-installed on the following:

Create a Dual Boot Windows 8 / Ubuntu
Create on my drive C (single disk on my laptop):

    * a partition for the system
    * one for Windows 8
    * one for data and
    least for Ubuntu OS

    My goal is:

-to install VmWare on Windows 8 and run Splat Checkpoint with virtual machines to make the FCTC laboratories.

to install GNS3 on Ubuntu for CCNP Labs but with GNS3 to access the files in the data partition

I have a Toshiba Satellite with 750 GB and 8 GB of RAM.

According to you, what is the best size for my scores?
Is there a better way to partition my C drive on my goal?

    Best regards

I don't know if this is the right section, sorry for that. Feel free to move this thread in the appropriate section *.

I think the size of partitions depends of the you want to use and install other software.
So if you have a lot of software which runs under the Windows System I recommend to choose a larger size to win 8 partition.

However, given that you have a 750 GB HARD drive, you could take 200GB for Win 8, 100 GB to Linux and the rest of the HARD drive size, that you can use for data.

By the way: I found Nice YouTube video how to create a dual boot using 8 Win and Linux http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=E_Yd2jK-7Jg

    Welcome them

  • Some sites create a new directory on the hard drive. How to prevent this?

Some web sites such as www.chron.com and www.pddnet.com create a new folder on the hard disk and writing. This is absolutely unacceptable. After each internet session I delete them. It seems that the developers of Firefox would be quite concerned about security not to have allowed this "feature" or at least make the site permission to create the directory. Web sites shouldn't have arbitrary write access. (Linux debian 6.0).

It seems that the video player is the cause. I have a low-speed DSL connection and the video player is put to download the file, so I can watch it later. It didn't occur to me that the sites Web regularly could play movies automatically as they do not appear in time real.

Thank you very much for the help.

  • Several partitions on the hard drive

    I have a few questions.

1 could you help me understand the different partitions that are on my hard drive.

    a. healthy 600 MB (recovery Partition)

    b. 300 MB Healthy (EFI System Partition)

    c. Acer (C)

    d. 18 GB Healthy (recovery Partition)

    2. If I wanted to maintain the ability to retrieve from the hard drive, which, if not all partitions are needed to stay healthy.

I like being redundant and I created a flash drive to back up my drivers and applications and also a flash drive to a factory restore.

    Thank you

    Hi whatrymes,

the entire score is required in the case of a HARD drive failure:

    (a) main Windows recovery partition, those are the same files that you have on the USB boot recovery media where windows fails to boot from the HARD drive

    (b) EFI http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/EFI_System_partition

    (c) your system partition is

    (d) it is necessary to re - install windows to factory default install Acer/windows files

If you want to be "bullet proof", I suggest:

    (1) check if the BIOS can read and boot from your USB recovery media (sometimes not expensive pen USB cannot be recognized)

    (2) make a system image on an external HARD drive or a big USB pen:
    http://www.TomsHardware.com/news/how-to-make-system-image-backup, 26542.html

in the worst case of total failure of the HARD drive, you can change your HARD disk, use the support of USB to start recovery and re - install of the system image backup.

  • Satellite A100-192: what I lose warranty if I create a partition on the HARD drive

    Hello everyone,

I want to format my laptop (Toshiba Satellite A100-192) and 2 partitions. I've been using EMP cd + recovery CD, it's very simple, but I don't want to install all the programs of Toshiba. I want to install a Windows 'fresh '.

I read all the messages on Toshiba Express media CD + recovery CD and xxxx on the HARD drive. I'm a bit confused. Many of you said: 'use only EMP recovery cd + CD' or ' do not xxxx 2 or more on your HARD drive - you can lose the warranty of your laptop.

I have another CD with Windows XP Pro OEM. It is best to create partitions, install from that cd and after that to install the drivers from TOOLSCD?

Of course, I don't want to lose my warranty, please tell me how it is better to do!

    Sincerely yours.
    Daniel

    Hello

    > Many of you said: 'use only EMP CD + recovery CD' or '' do not 2 or more partitions on your HARD drive.
' > you can lose the warranty of your laptop.

Someone told you a big story :)

It turns out; you do not lose the warranty after you create partitions on your HARD drive!
Only if you open the laptop and will try to fix something by yourself, you will lose your warranty.

Of course, you can use your fresh and original Windows operating system. After the installation of the operating system, you can install the drivers from the CD tools Toshiba or you're going to download it from the page of Toshiba.

  • Satellite L500 - what is the third partition on the HARD drive?

I see that I have three primary partitions already made on this new L500 ~.
    1.) 2GiB/dev/hda1 to Toshiba Recovery,.
    2.) 330 + giB (C :) for Vista and 3.) 12GiB/dev/hda3?.

I need windows dualboot both valuation and partition for Linux and the storage installations.

What is the third partition for and I can configure things so that I can save it in a logical Partition?

    My goal is:

    / dev/hda1 = Toshiba Recovery
    / dev/hda2 = Vista
    / dev/hda3 = Windows 7 ~ RC7
/ dev/hda4 = expanded to all others (including Linux, the existing 12GiB and common storage as well.)

Any suggestions or thoughts before I dive?

    Best regards, SnapafunFrank

    Hello

    The third partition is Vista.
Vista creates two partitions; a partition common to install the system and the second partition hidden for the backup files. These backup files are important for Vista. Vista needs him to repair the operating system if something will go wrong

So it s is strongly recommended to leave this partition on the HARD disk

  • How to remove Lightroom edition to connect the hard drive

I made a big mistake when you create the publication connection in my new Lightroom application. I didn't know it was a connection forever and I gave specific names to the collection that I wanted to publish on my hard drive. I found how I can change the Publishing Service and change EVERYTHING except the location of export files. I would change the subfolder. I read it says that the subfolder is not editable once the connection is created, but I thought that the connection has been updated every time that you started a new session of Lightroom).

Is it possible to remove this connection edition?

    Hi car convertible,

You need to right click on the hard drive under Control Panel Services to publish and choose 'Remove the Service to publish'
