How to mount EXT2 or EXT3 on a Mac external hard drive (10, 8 - 10.10)?

A unit DVR records TV programs on an external USB drive, as long as the disk is EXT2 or EXT3 format.   No other format is acceptable.

I want to view these files, which are about 1 GB each.

How you get such format on a MacBookPro to view files?   Tried two programs, and he had no success.

The Mac does not support the Ext disks in standard format, but there is a third party tool to add this feature. See - https://www.paragon-software.com/home/extfs-mac/

It is said that he supports Ext2, Ext3 and Ext4.

Paragon have a history long and good reputation for producing tools to do this kind of thing on a Mac.

    How can I do this?

    Thank you.

Not sure wheter ix2 is able to work with > 2 TB is spread over its USB ports, but normally you would create a copy job that contains "all directories".

If your ix2 doesn't detect your USB, try to repartition your drive USB-2 to + 1 TB

    Hi PML.

Yes, I used the built in «Back to the top of the tool» Unfortunately I don't have the CD. My Netbook is a HP mini computer that comes with Windows XP home. Thank you for your help and I hope to hear from you again.

How do you reinstall Windows?  If you have used the HP Recovery system to recover from a hidden partition, backup should have been reinstalled.

I suggest you call HP support.

  • Windows 7 Professional... How to get access to security to view my external hard drives and external flash dirves

I am a first time user to windows 7 Professional and need to learn how to access files that are connected to the computer by an external flash drive or an external hard drive.

External or external flash drives hard drives can be connected to windows 8 computers or windows xp to view the files, but when then identical external or external flash drives hard drives are connected to two computers with windows 7 Professional there are settings automatically don ot all access to the external hard drive or flash drive external files.

When the computer display, it displays the external hard drive.

When I left click top produces a pop up with the title bar: location is not available

Content: H: | is not accessible.

    Access is denied.

When I right click on the hard drive and then click the Security tab, it displays:

Name of the object: H: |

To continue, you must be an administrative user with permission to view this object's security properties.

    Do you want to continue?

Then I clicked on continue and it displays:

    Owner

You do not have permission to view this object's security properties.  To view its security properties, you can try to take possession of the object.  As owner, you can also control who gets the permissions on the object.  Please note that once you take possession, the previous owner may not have access to the object.

To try to take possession of the object, select an account from the list, and then click OK.

Name of the object: H: |

Current owner: unable to display current owner.

    Change in ownership to:

the two choices are my name or administrators

I then chose an and apply and ok and it did not work.

I then chose the other and apply and ok and it did not work.

Then I clicked on other users or groups and entered everyone and that no longer works.

I am the only user of this computer brand new.

When I click on accounts Panel then user control and security for the family and then user accounts, it displays my name as administrator password.

How is the switch of the property did not work?

I went back to safety again and this time stayed at the bottom for special permissions or advanced settings.

And yet when I kept getting location is not available

    H:\ is not accessible.

    Access is denied.

How do change you windows 7 Professional so that you can have access to your own files on an external hard drive or an external flash drive.

    Please list the steps.

    Thank you

This problem has been resolved in collaboration with support of higher HP for Z book 17 mobile workstation.

    Steps:

    (1) determines that it is not NTFS problem

    (2) using the MSCONFIG the problem has been isolated to a single service

When this service has been disabled and after reboot, the problem of access to the files is resolved.

Results: HP had installed software on the HP Z book 17 laptop or mobile workstation which, by default, block communication with external hard drives and flash drives external.

This HP Client Security software replaces or blocks all right click changes settings become apparent.  It blocks the change of ownership.  It blocks the administrator privileges.  It blocks all is used.

The HP Client Security software has been changed and changed to deny privileges (default setting) to allow the communication with external drives.  When you go into the setting for this software, it is now a humming noise and maybe I need to download the drivers and software again to see if this problem is also corrected.

Thanks for your comments.  I spent a lot of time on this and didn't understand why all right-click methods had failed.  The default software setting HP deny had trumped right click all changes.

  • How to recover data formatting... Encrypted external hard drive

I have a 500 GB portable external hard drive, which I had encrypted using Bit Locker in Windows 7.

    I accidentally formatted the disk.
How can I recover the data.
I tried several software data recovery as (recover my files & Stellar Phoenix Windows Data Recovery - professional) etc., but they don't find all the data from the disk was encrypted.
I would be grateful for any help I could get.
    thanx

    Hello

Unfortunately, we will not be able to recover the data because the drive has been formatted. Done with the help of Bitlocker encryption has further complicated the issue. However, try to contact a team of data recovery known who do it for a minimal amount according to the amount of data to restore.

    Three points:

    1. software (Real Player or any other) should generally not be on
external hard drives. It can cause problems. So you shouldn't do it.

2 move a program from one drive to another (external or not) is
difficult. This is because besides that the software itself, there is
usually many references to it and its location in | Windows, in the
Registry and elsewhere. Search and replace all of these references is
very hard. There is a software that is supposed to do, but in my
experience, none of this works perfectly. I recommend strongly against
    it.

    3. move media files is easy. You can move the files to a disk
to another exactly like you would move them from one folder to another.
There are several ways, but cut-and - paste and drag - move are the
may be simpler and more common. If you do not know how
    write again for more information.

  • How to transfer Time Machine backup to the new external hard drive

I'm upgrading to a 1 hard external to the Western reader to with 5 TB of Seagate.  This is because Time Machine has used the 1 TB drive.  How can I transfer the files from backup Time Machine from the old to the new drive so that backups continue to have access to the old files.

Although the documentation Apple says you can copy Time Machine backups in the Finder, it is very slow and sometimes does not.

This technique works only if the volume that you copy to the same size or larger that that you are copying to.

First of all, please open the Time Machine preference pane and click the Select Disk... button. You may be able to unlock the settings first, by clicking on the padlock icon in the lower left corner of the window. Log in as administrator.

Remove the volume you want to copy in the list of backup destinations. Then turn off Time Machine.

Launch disk utility, open the built-in Help and search for the term 'Double '. Follow the instructions. All existing data on the destination volume will be deleted. That shouldn't be a problem, because you do not want to mix non-sauvegarde and backup data on the same drive anyway.

If the volume you are copying has been encrypted by Time Machine, you must first unlock it. Click the release button in the toolbar of the disk utility window.

Turn Time Machine back on and select the new volume as a backup destination. Alternatively, you can continue to use the old volume, if you wish. Both will be alternated when both are available.

ATTENTION: If you copy the volume is corrupted, as shown by the ERD or first aid in disk utility, while corruption is copied to the new drive. Do not copy data from a damaged on a faulty disk volume. Put aside the reader and do not use until you don't know that you no longer need the data. Then securely erase it and bring it to a recycling center. Do the same if the restore operation fails with "disk errors."

  • How to move photos from a camera to an external hard drive?

I did it before connecting each of them in my iMac, but I don't remember the correct sequence and the steps necessary to transfer the photos from my camera to my external hard drive. Thanks for your suggestions.

The simplest method is to take the SD card out of the camera and then insert it into the SD slot on the side of your 2011 27 "iMac and copy and paste the pictures from the SD card to your DHM.

  • How to install and boot Windows xp on an external hard drive (USB)?

Can you please help on above question?

UBCD (Universal Boot CD) might be a good candidate.  It creates an ISO file with a fully functional version of XP that you can burn to a CD, and then copy them to an external drive.  You can download http://www.download.com .  Be aware that you will need a XP SP1 or disc to create the ISO installation file later.

    Good luck.
