  Here is the official response from one of the developers of the calendar:

  • CalDAV is done entirely via http/https and the calendar app is happy to send the xhr on ssl requests if you enter an https url. He is also happy (currently) to send unencrypted http requests although if you give a url for a server that doesn't support ssl. Hope that helps!

  So it seems it should work on a technical level, and that you already add CalDav address in a format "https".

  Are you able to access this calendar normally with other calendar applications? Maybe I need to open a bug for this issue.

  Try the steps below to reinstall the calendar, then check:

  (a) move to the Start screen. Click on store of tile to open Store.

  (b) once the store is open, under the spotlight, you can see the apps. Click on had apps? Tile to display the complete list of the applications provided with Windows 8.

  (c) click or tap the application you want to install. This action will open the details page, where you can see the features, the release notes and comments.

  (d) on the left (on the page of details) pane, you will see install button. Click install to begin the installation of the application. You're done!

  Thanks for the suggestion. I solved my problem differently... and for some reason that I have not seen the options you describe in your instructions.

  -the 'trick' is to be found for the search "E-mail, calendar, people, and e-mail" simply "calendar" will NOT find the application of Windows 8 calendar (someone needs to fix this!).
  -By clicking the 'Mail, calendar, and Messaging People' application, it installed fine and I was back in business.
