How to paste paths to a new layer?

I can't paste paths into a new layer from a current layer...

I select the paths - edit/cut - the new layer as visible and blue highlighted in the layers palette - Edition and paste... the paths get glued to the previous layer instead of the new layer...

I would also like it if I could use 'paste in front' to paste them into the same xy location in the new layer.

In the layers palette, right click on the three lines at the top

At the bottom of the list, you will see an option to "paste remembers layers".

Uncheck it

I bet that it resolves

  • Paste it into a new layer problem

    I get an error when I try to paste an object or text in a new layer in Illustrator.

    I'll create a new layer and select it in the layers palette, but when I go to paste the object or the text fits in the layer it comes.

    I tried to lock all other layers, and then selecting the layer new/unlocked to stick in, but then I get the:

    "you try to paste or drag one or more layers that are hidden or locked"... but the layer is NOT locked or hidden.

    any help?

    Unckeck "paste remembers layers" in the menu of the layer panel.

  • Problem copy and paste paths in the new document

    Before when I copied and pasted the traces on a new document, it was working fine and the paths are out of the right size. Now even if I don't do anything else when I copy and paste a path into a new document, the trail comes out really small! I tried the two dragging the path and copy and paste, but neither will not work! Any suggestions? Thank you

  • Paste an image as new layer: no way to disable automatic resizing?

    If I stick a picture on a smaller, CS5 will automatically resize itself it so that it fits in the frame. You can then manually turn in its original size, but this is awkward for what I do, so I was wondering if there was a way that disabled so that it keeps the original size (with parts of the layer being off screen). Even better would be if I could just paste without automatically enter free transform, as in earlier versions of Photoshop.

    Thanks in advance.

    You can turn off 'free transform' in preferences/general

  • Towers of image gray color when I paste it into the new layer

    I have an all black image of a ballerina on one layer, with black text on another. I'm putting a bouquet of red roses at his feet, but it turns shades of gray when I try to do. Anyone know what is happening? Thanks in advance.

    Look in the menu Image > Mode. Put it in RGB if its different then try to add red roses again.

  • Problems with the new layer

    CS6. Installed Cs6 on a laptop, when I have a mask layer and want a new layer (control / alt and j) but it creates the new layer with the previous layer mask. With my office (control / alt / j) creates the new layer (no layer mask)

    If all you want is the current contents of the layer, you will use three shortcuts... (Ctrl + A Ctrl + C Ctrl + V). Those who would choose the hidden of the currently targeted layer visible content. Copy the pixels selected in the Clipboard. Paste it into a new layer containing the copied pixels. You can use Shift + Ctrl + C, if you want that the composite of the layers visible or visible layers of timbre Shift + Alt + Ctrl + E.

  • My object from sticking on a new layer on the layer below which I was working. Even though I have lock or hide.

    If I copy or cut an object from one layer in my document or another document and want to paste it on a new layer in my document, it does not work. Even though I have lock or hide the layer it comes. Illustrator gives me rather a warning that I am trying to stick to a visible layer locked or not.

    What should do?

    Erica,

    If you have layers remembers dough checked in the layers flyout/list drop-down palette, uncheck it.

    (sound effects)

    Thank you

    Hi Jongware, trying to decipher the request, I think that the OP wants to place each selected path on a new layer, not the whole selection to a single layer.

    If this is the case, select your paths and run the script

    var idoc = app.activeDocument;
    var sel = idoc.selection;
    for (i=sel.length-1; i>=0; i--)
              {
                        var ilayer = idoc.layers.add();
                        var pgItem = sel[i];
                        pgItem.move(ilayer,ElementPlacement.PLACEATEND)
                        ilayer.name = pgItem.name;
              }

  • I have a background image.  How can I add an image to the new layer?

    I have a picture as locked background.  When I create a new layer, how can I put a new photo on the new layer?

    File > place bound to add image (press ENTER after you have size and position) and it will become a dynamic object on its own layer.

  • How can I remove the checkerboard drawing in a new layer in 2015 CC?

    I'm doing some exercises drawing using layers with drawing on a layer underneath (opacity turned down). How can I get rid of the checkerboard design in each of the layers so I see what I paint more clearly? I named the layer and watched in the layers panel, but no luck. Thank you very much!

    You realize that the Board is in fact the background, and that new layers without content allow you to see through to this context?  You can fill the background with white, or you can disable the grid in Preferences > transparency, but all that will do is make each new layer appear to be filled with white, except that you will be able to see through the underlying layers.

    moving layers between files

    can it be done apart from copy and paste into a new layer?

    If you want to copy (not move) a layer to another file, click and drag the layer in the layers Panel on the other image.

    'Move' means remove the layer from the source file.

    OK, Bob. This give a try.

    First, open a new file and make sure the background is white, not on Transparent that I suspect you have currently defined.

    Then, type your copy. Your layers panel will then look like the top of this picture...:

    and when you drag the text on the image layer, it will look like the lower part of the sample above.

    You can then position the text layer with the tool move
