How to reinstall Windows XP media center
I have an old computer with windows xp media Center is installed. I'm looking to build upon after sitting unused for over a year so I want to do a new installation. I also think that the hard drive is running out (maybe why I stopped using it) because it makes a very loud grinding noise when used so I have a spare hard drive to swap in.
It includes a hard disk recovery partition and I have the license for it, both on the side of the case and from the registry.
How can I reinstall the operating system on the new drive?
I appreciate all help.

Hi BeeCees,
· You have the two blank DVDs you have burned when you got the computer?
· The Acer E-Recovery software does not give an option to clean install without saving the data?
I recommend you contact Acer support for instructions on how to reformat their PC using the Acer E-Recovery software without migrating their data on.

Windows vista media center does not I can uninstall and reinstall?
Windows vista Media Center has been installed, but will not respond. How can I fix this problem?
Hello
You cannot uninstall or reinstall
Try this:
Run the sfc/scannow command.
http://support.Microsoft.com/kb/929833
Use the (SFC.exe) System File Checker tool to determine which file is causing the problem and then replace the file. To do this, follow these steps:
- Open an elevated command prompt. To do this, click Start, click principally madeprograms,Accessories, right-clickguest, and then clickrun as administrator. If you are prompted for an administrator password or a confirmation, type the password, or clickallow.
- Type the following command and press ENTER:sfc/scannow
The sfc/scannow command analyzes all protected system files and replaces incorrect versions with appropriate Microsoft versions

Problem, reinstall the Update Rollup 2 for Windows XP Media Center Edition 2005
I have problems with MCE 2005. My hard drive crashed and the technician that restored my repressive said that he could not work in MCE 2005. It's a shame because he was working before the hard drive crashes. I work with windows XP.When I go to install the internet and begin to test the connection it gives me "Critical error of process - Code 2"When I go to the TV configuration, it tells me "Tuner not found". Even if I know it works because I also Win TV7 in Hauppauge. My TV tuner is HVR-1600.With these problems, I thought that the solution might be to reinstall rollup 2 according to the Microsoft.http://support.Microsoft.com/kb/910905However, when I go to reinstall the Update Rollup 2, it seems to be to establish a restore point and then it stops when it hits hotfix (KB891593).I took a copy of the mcelog and have attached a copy of the log below.Assistance or management, you can provide me to solve this problem would be highly appreciated.
At this point, I'm a newbie to this and I don't have a clue as to the cause of my problems and any ideas you may have for me would be much appreciated.A generic Package: 10/28/10. 21:32:48

How to record TV with Media Center (Windows 7) to a network drive?
Well, you would think that the new MediaCenter Windows 7 would live up to the recording of your TV for a network/player sharing. Nevermind, it seems that it is just not possible.
I have a windows 2008 R2 server and a Windows 7 machine with a TV card. Since my server has 2 TB of storage, it would be nice to save directly to a network drive. (I rode like Z :).
I tried the following:
- By selecting Media Center itself: does not. Is not available.
- Editing the registry: HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Media Center\Service\Recording to RecordPath Z:\TV. Does not.
- Editing the registry: set RecordPath to \\server\TV. Does not.
- Create a symbolic link (mklink \D) of Z:\TV and \\server\TV with parameter in the registry under RecordPath.
I am currently out of options. I could of course install Windows7 on my server, but I have no license for this, and my windows 2008 r2 is free from dreamspark.
So: How is the world possible to make this work? And why not just MediaCenter detects my network sharing?
Record on the network is not supported. The smallest hiccup of network could cause problems with registration, or even TV live as the recording buffer would be located at the remote location.
One thing you can do is to use Windows Home Server Power Pack 3 and its function of archive TV which you can configure to automatically move all your records or only those you want. -
How to enable the DVD library in WIndows 7 Media Center
How do you enable DVD library in Win 7 Media Center? I tried editing the registry as in Vista, but it does not work with Win 7. I am running Win 7 Pro 64-bit version. Thank you
Hi zt75,
Run you manually editing the registry?
Have you clicked on fix it from the link below? If this is not the case, click on fixit and check if that helps.
How can I enable the DVD library in Windows Media Center on a Windows Vista-based computer?
http://support.Microsoft.com/kb/930526(Although this article is for Windows Vista, we can always give it a shot in Windows 7.)
Or do these steps and check.
To enable the DVD library in Windows 7, follow these steps:
1. If Windows Media Center is running, close it.
2. click on start.
3. in the search box, type regedit.
4. in the list programs, click on regedit.
If you are prompted for an administrator password or a confirmation, type your password, or click on continue.
5. Locate and then click the following registry subkey:
HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Media Center\Settings\Video settings6. in the Details pane, right-click VideoGalleryView, and then click on edit.
7 remove the content that appear in the value data box.
8. in the value data box, type Gallery, and then click OK. Registry value data: Gallery = Activate My DVD; Play = not to activate my DVD
9. close the registry editor. To verify that the automatic fix worked, restart your computer. You should now see "DVD library" from the menu. To add DVDs, go to the menu information (click on 'i' on the remote control) and select "Add Movies.
Try this also:
1. If Windows Media Center is running, close it.
2. click on start.
3. in the search box, type regedit.
4. in the list programs, click on regedit.
If you are prompted for an administrator password or a confirmation, type your password, or click on continue.
5. Locate and then click the following registry subkey:HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Media Center\Start Menu
Check if it has a value of HideDVD, and if the value data is set to 1. If the data in the value of HideDVD is set to 1, then you have two options. One option would be to delete the HideDVD value. The other option would be to change the value from 1 to 0 data.
6. close the registry editor.EDITING REGISTRY WARNING:
