Windows vista media center does not I can uninstall and reinstall?

Windows vista Media Center has been installed, but will not respond. How can I fix this problem?

Hello

You cannot uninstall or reinstall

Try this:

Run the sfc/scannow command.

http://support.Microsoft.com/kb/929833

Use the (SFC.exe) System File Checker tool to determine which file is causing the problem and then replace the file. To do this, follow these steps:

  1. Open an elevated command prompt. To do this, click Start, click principally madeprograms,Accessories, right-clickguest, and then clickrun as administrator. If you are prompted for an administrator password or a confirmation, type the password, or clickallow.
  2. Type the following command and press ENTER:
    sfc/scannow

The sfc/scannow command analyzes all protected system files and replaces incorrect versions with appropriate Microsoft versions

How to analyze the entries in the log file generating the program Checker (SFC.exe) resources of Microsoft Windows in Windows Vista

If SFC detects the main problems it can't fix you may need to borrow a Microsoft dvd vista not an acer, HP etc. recovery disk and do a repair installation

  • Photosmart C309a: Printer does not work after uninstalling and reinstalling to resolve the question of the HP Solution Center

HP Solution Center has stopped working so I followed the advice of HP Support Assistant to uninstall and reinstall the printer.

Cannot get printer to reinstall successfully, and more, none of the physical controls on the printer will work much longer, even the power of the power button.  Have to unplug the power off.

Ironically, I found since the 'solution' through this forum to get Support HP Center works again by uninstalling a recent Windows Update, but do me no good now.

I tried to uninstall and reinstall the software of the driver several times without success and I'm worried that the function keys not working not not at all on the printer indicates an internal matter that cannot be repaired.

    Anyone encountered this problem?

Hello - Thanks for the reply.  Power the device power on and off has not fixed anything.  However, suspecting an internal firmware issue, I did a search on the web to see if there was a mechanism to reset.  I found a very useful website that describes three levels of resets, and the second level one (#6) fixed my problem.  I'm surprised HP doesn't have this information in its documentation or on its website.  I understand he has the potential to be used for the wrong purposes and perhaps make an irreparable problem, but it is clearly the solution to an inoperable Panel.  My printer was working fine before this problem and is now back to work again.

  • Windows 7 Media Center - does not start due to a software restriction policy preventing the departure upward.

Installed Windows 7 upgrade Windows Vista a couple of weeks.  Media Center used to work under Vista, even if I don't use it much.  I can't even start program.  Using a HP Pavillion system.  Any ideas gratefully received.  Thank you

    @ brooon:
While the suggestion of man will not help you directly (you have Home Premium, have no GPEdit), you can always check the registry keys that are affected by the policies mentioned.
(GPEdit is a nice interface to various registry settings, anyway.)

Take a look at the following keys:

    HKLM\Software\Policies\Microsoft\WindowsMediaCenter\MediaCenter

    HKCU\Software\Policies\Microsoft\WindowsMediaCenter\MediaCenter

    A 0 = MC ValueData can work; 1 = MC is disabled.

Standard WARNING: improper modification of the Windows registry can have consequences and can prevent your system become unbootable (possibly requiring a reinstallation of the operating system.)  Be careful!!!

Don't change anything here yet.  It just open regedit and take a look at these two keys.  If they are there, after the ValueData displayed.  If they aren't there, after that they aren't there.

    And this is the Information from Microsoft on the problems of passwords;

You will need to borrow a Microsoft DVD from a friend, Recovery DVD a manufacturer without these special work options available.

If you are unable to connect to Windows 7 or Windows Vista, you can use the Windows Vista System Restore feature, or the Windows 7 system restore feature.

You may be unable to connect to Windows Vista or Windows 7 in the following scenarios:

    • Scenario 1: You recently set a new password for the protected administrator account. However, you don't remember the password.
    • Scenario 2: You type the correct password. However, Windows Vista or Windows 7 does not accept the password because the system is damaged.
    • Scenario 3: You delete a protected administrator account. Now, you cannot connect to another administrator account.
    • Scenario 4: You change an administrator account protected with a standard user account. Now, you cannot connect to another administrator account.

  • Vista Media Center does not display the subtitles TV

I just started to use Media Center to Vista Home Premium and I need help.
I googled but have not found my solution.

Fortunately, my HDTV (Samsung) shows the legends on the captioned.
When I go the same path of VMC, I don't have captions.
Where is the 'button' to turn on / off?
It is a function of the tuner (digital tuner Hauppauge HVR-2200)?

Thanks for your help, but I finally got the legends of work.

It seems that the solution is in the Windows Media Center TV Pack 2008 (x 86).
I was provided by my HTPC seller and applied the 2 patches that came with it.
The old system was WMC version: 6.0.6001.18000 (longhorn_rtm080118-1840).
After installation, the version is 6.1.1000.18273 (longhorn_mc_dev (wmbla). 080702-2208).

Now my menus show the items people asked me access but was not when indicated.

It works with the same material: HTPC HDMI - HDMI-> receiver--> TV

In fact, the legend of WMC are much more clean and elegant than those of Samsung TV.

Is there a way of positioning, as their name suggests, under - titles?
They appear in the middle and slightly below the center of the screen, rather than the bottom of the screen.

    Kind regards

    N

  • Vista Media center does not start

From the start, I get the warning box that Media center has stopped working. It says Windows will close the program and notify me if a solution is available. When I close the program - banner in the blue windows media center remains here and begins to the microsoft update page. I go through the update page, and it says that my system is up to date and working correctly.

I received a rundll error message and did a fact a reg clean. It always does the same thing: what I can try next?

    Hello rspenyvr,

If you create a new user, you have the same problem with the newly created user account? I found in other posts that somehow the user account is corrupted and will help create a new account to correct the problem.

  • Error HP Photosmart D110-Twain. Scanning does not work despite uninstalling and reinstalling it.

All of a sudden my scanner does not work on my HP Photosmart D110 printer.  I tried to uninstall and it reinstaling several times.  The HP Troubleshooter arrives with a Twain error.  How can I fix it?  The extended error code is:

8, (4,-2147221005, 0)).  (Note that dashes outside in the error code are straight, not curved.  Do not have the right on my keyboard).

    Hi LindaMC,

    Thanks for the reply!

Looks like that maybe some things are lacking and there's a registry cleaner run which has removed some things. What I suggest you do is to perform an uninstall of level 3 and then once that finished, please download and run the HP printer install wizard to get the software reinstalled.

If all goes well, once this is done, you should be able to start a new search.

  • Firefox does not work. Uninstalled and reinstalled Firefox and it still will not open.

Do not get the error messages. At first it would take a long time to open, or several times I had to click the icon so he can start. Now after several times to uninstall, reinstall and restarted my computer, Firefox no longer works for me at all.

I did at first and did not have much. All of a sudden when I was on IE Firefox just starting up. I don't know if it was a hiccup or something, but he has just come. Now it's working.

  • Media Center does not open on Windows 8.

Recently built a new PC with Win 8 64-bit Pro and Media Center add-on bought.  However, whenever I click on the WMC icon, nothing happens. I installed a bunch of software on my machine, and some of it was a bit old stuff that I had to run in compatibility mode + install other updates (from / seller directly) to work to win 8. I have no doubt that if some of the older things may have pushed something - it seems, remind one of them wanting to install a .NET framework or something - but I don't know how to solve problems.

I tried to turn the checkboxes of the WMC feature and restart but that did not help. I tried to start the PC in safe mode to see if that would help solve the problems, but he did not. My ideas on how to solve the problems and if there is anything I can do in addition to trying the Windows 8 update (ugh). Any ideas to help me? The update would be worth trying? I really don't want to spend a whole day trying to track this one down and a lot of software that I'm not sure that the uninstall is the culprit or not. Any help would be appreciated. Thank you.
