How to remove an unallocated partition?

How can I delete an unallocated partition?

You cannot delete the unallocated hard disk space.  Means unallocated space are not a partition or used for something else.

You can add space to another partition or create a new partition using unallocated space.

These are dependent on where the space from other partitions and scores how much you already have.

  • How to remove a logical Partition without disturbing the other

Hello, I recently ran into some trouble.

As you can see from the picture, there are little free space next to the D: (10.55 GB) drive. I want to merge the free space with the 5 GB unallocated space and want to create a primary partition to install another version of windows. The problem is that when I right click the free space, the partition option delete is gray. I discovered that to delete the D: drive to get space but I can't do that. Even my backup drive is full.

So, how do to remove free space without disturbing D: drive

You can merge only the free and not allocated using a third-party partitioning tool and not the built in tool of victory.

    It's free http://www.easeus.com/partition-manager/epm-free.html

If you add another partition to base all existing partitions will be converted to dynamic, the recovery partition to the then will no longer work

  • How to remove the local partition of storage and vmfs

I have esx 3.5 on a 6 infrastructure hosts. Each host, in addition to other stuff, I have a 6 GB VMFS partition, "tied" to a local storage.

I did not install, so I do not know the purpose of this partition, but there seems that it is not used, because it is empty.

Now I need free space on the hosts to install monitorning of IBM tools, and I thought that it was preferable to have these installed NOT on the partition root.

Since I have this 6 GB partition (hopefully) unused, I if I could remove the storage, delete the partition VFMS and create an EXT3 partition.

But I do not know how... can someone tell me the exact procedure I should follow?

    Some information about my environment:

    the VMFS partition is sda3:

    Disk/dev/sda: 14.9 GB, 14999879680 bytes

    Heads of 64, 32 sectors/track, 14305 cylinders

    Units = cylinders of 2048 * 512 = 1048576 bytes

Device boot start end blocks Id system

    14207 14305 CF 101360 unknown sda7

And I have this virtue/vmfs/volumes (ensv16oe:storage1 is the local storage, I want to delete):

    # ls

    48bedd8b-7fe7ff6e - 36 c 5-00215e2097b4 Datastore1

    49aece6c-cbdd0d6c-5253-00215e20951e ensv16oe:storage1

    ensv16oe:storage1 is on vmhba1:4:0:3

    Thank you for your attention.

The restart was not necessary also if fdisk say Yes.

A different way has been to say the least the VMFS volume empty, change the type with fdisk, forcing a new analysis and verify that the data store is gone.

The "recovery Partition" in question is not a thing of Microsoft.  Ask that ever created it (the manufacturer of your computer) which will probably help you not because it's beyond their desire to do so.

I suggest you create / have external media and numbers of series/product key in another place course of the computer itself.

  • How to remove a partition unallocated in windows7

I have recentlt bought a laptop which has 500 GB of space, I tried to make 2 partitions and has managed to create one, the other partition is unallocated and unable to appoint or remove, how to remove it?

Work on the basis that you have only FOUR partitions.

    Your computer already has THREE.

    1. A system reserved partition (hidden and no letter assigned)
    2. A primary partition, C
    3. A recovery partition (hidden and no assigned letter)

This leaves space for ONE more, that's why you couldn't create TWO others.

What you need to know is...

If you are already running the process of recovery from the recovery partition or recovery disks, any partition created by you over the content of this partition is summarily DELETED.

    To correct this you did...

Use a 3rd party partition Manager...

    http://www.partition-tool.com/

Use the free version of home and merge with your new partition unallocated space.

    Hello

Here is the information of HP for a messeage their recovery partition low disk space.

It shows you how to access the recovery Partition.

If you can't fix it with this information, you will need to contact HP.

I explained why in the section General information of my answer here.

«Error: low disk space.» You run lack of disk space on recovery (d :))"

    http://h10025.www1.HP.com/ewfrf/wc/document?DocName=c01508532&LC=en&cc=us&DLC=en

It is general information about what to and what not to do with a recovery Partition:

Your recovery Partition was photographed on your hard drive during the production of your computer by the manufacturer for all of these reasons.

    1. to reinstall Vista from in the case of a failure of the system, based on individuals or the keys at startup.

F10 or Alt + F10 or F11 are a couple of different manufacturers use sequences.

You will need to ask your manufacturer for proper sequence.

    It's F11 for a HP machine

    2. to make the recovery disks on if your drive hard breaks down, so that you can then reinstall the operating system on a new hard drive.

Also ask them how to make records.

It shows you how to build links in this HP:

Your D: Recovery Drive is should not be used for backups, defragmented, etc..

There are backups on an external hard drive.

To resolve the problems that have arisen with the recovery D: Partition, you will need to contact the manufacturer of your computer to remove all that has been added to it.

    See you soon.

  • How can I read or use the unallocated Partition?

My external hard drive has two partitions. We're "Healthy (primary partition)", the other is "unallocated".

I can see health as a disc but not the unallocated partition. How can I read or use the unallocated Partition?

When I right click on the partition menu popup are faded/not usable.

You can create a partition in the unallocated in disk management space.

Right-click on the unallocated space and create a partition.

If you have a partition on the disk using all the space you need to set as GPT instead of MBR.  Windows will not accept a partition of about 2 GB max on a game of MBR disk.

I have the following computer: HP ENVY h8 desktop PC - 1437c.  I used the HP Recovery application to do a recovery on a flash drive disk. When you have finished this operation it was not an option to remove the recovery partition (drive D on my computer. I tried to reopen the HP Recovery Manager and try to remove it like that, but to remove it is greyed out. I also tried to delete it using the 8.1 windows Disk Manager, but there is no way to do there either. If I right click on the recovery Partition, I get only an option 'help '. How can I get rid of this partition and recover lost space using it now on my hard drive. • How to delete hard drive partitions

Can someone help to give me advice on how to remove my hard drive on my Satellite 2520 partitions? Partitions only appeared after using the system now recovery disk, I have c:d:e: disc where as before didn't the c: folder. This caused me problems when you try to install programs like not enough space available now.

    Hi Luke,.

Your recovery CD has two options for the installation of your system. The first option is just to format your hard drive and then install a single partion \C: on which your operating system is mounted. The second option is "Advanced" installation in which you can partition your hard drive in any format you want so that you end up with a multiple logical disks \C:, \D:. \E: etc.

The second option is preferred by many users because it allows them to keep their user data on a separate partition of their operating system.

As for your problem, you might return to a partition of acronym of re-installing your recovery CD by using the "standard installation", as described above, but then you lose one of your own stuff, unless you save first. Alternatively, you can get a copy of a third-party utility (for example, PartionMagic) to reformat your existing installation.

My personal preference would be a re - install from your recovery CD, but this will depend on how much you have added to your system, since you installed it last.

  • HP Envy 15-w002nx 360 X: how to remove GRUB or Ubuntu entry UEFI in the boot order

    Hello

I tried Ubuntu in my HP Envy X 360 15 - w002nx laptop.  After you uninstall using uninstaller os, single operating system Ubuntu is deleted but not the GRUB. It always shows in the UEFI boot order. How to remove Ubuntu boot order entry? I tried EasyUEFI and also bcedit.exe command. It removes the entry, but after restart iis to come again. How to get rid of this problem?

    I appriciate your help.

    Hello

Thanks for posting in the HP Support forum.

In order to achieve that you need, please read these articles and follow the steps.

You must first remove the EFI partition Ubuntu (actually, I think ths is what you see)

After that, you can remove the HDD MBR GRUB using bootrec.exe /fixmbr and /FixBoot Bootrec.exe (this is done using CD/DVD recovery Windows or with Windows 10 - >ISO)

These operations are a little risky and if done incorrectly can make your PC unbootable. Please, back up your most important data before taking any action.
