Do you receive an error related to the question message/code?

I would like to inform you that the Desktop.ini is a system file that addresses common issues, such as downloads, Documents, photos and music etc. When a change is made in these files, Desktop.ini is updated.

Deleting the file will cause problems with the operating system and it is not recommended to delete the files. The default desktop.ini a hidden system file and read-only attributes assigned.

If you want to stop these messages, go to the files through Search Options, click settings and you will see the Folder Options, click on it and the view tab and scroll down until you see "Hide protected operating system files (recommended) and put a checkmark in the box."

  • What is ehtumbs_vista.db and desktop.ini and how and is allowed to delete this item

What is ehthumbs_vista.db and desktop.ini and is it OK to delete and if so how to remove

    Thank you

    Hello, zoolady

ehthumbs_vista. DB, that's where the Media Center records the thumbnails for media.
Desktop.ini stores the settings for this particular file.

It's good to remove them both, but they will be re-created automatically. They must be hidden by default, so you can choose to simply do not show the files hidden instead.

I sell desktop computer and need to know how to remove all of the pc?

The most difficult part of the first paragraph is to create the boot floppies - which can be complicated and requires installation of Windows disks.

Perhaps a third simple but effective alternative is simply to re - install Windows on your computer from the disc that came with your computer or from the recovery partition.  Resettlement will delete all files on the disc and replace them with the New Installation of Windows.  At this point, the fragments of your old files may remain on your hard drive.  So once relocation complete, download and install the freeware 'Eraser' software, run it and you want to specify the "free space" erased on your hard drive.  This will overwrite firmly all the data remains that has not already been overwritten by the Windows Installation.

    Hello

Reboot and see if the icon is still there. If so, try the following:

Go to control panel/Folder Options, view tab, set the options so that you can see the hidden files and folders and show protected operating system files. You should now be able to see a desktop desktop.ini file. Delete and restart. See if that helps.

  • How to stop the desktop.ini ' ready to be written to the disk?

    Hello everyone,

I want to warn the desktop.ini (or any other hidden system file) automatically added to the list of "files ready to be written to disk.

    1. I know the desktop.ini file is, I know that it is harmless and that it only stores information about the settings of the folder and stuff like that. And I know that it can be deleted without worry (except the loss of the settings of the folder, I don't care about) but I want to remove it, anyway, as I
1.1. to burn own discs without all the files on them that do not need to be there.
1.2. don't always want to see the file when I am looking at the contents of a CD/DVD-ROM.
1.3 still won't delete the file manually.

    2. I don't want simly hide system files, because I want to see them in other folders and hide a file does not mean deleting the file.

    3. I don't want to change access rights to the folder that is used as a temporary folder for "Files ready to be written on the disc" so that the user that I use windows with has no write access, because I don't want to lose the ability to burn other files with Windows Desktop using this user.

And even better: is it possible (perhaps a registry entry) which prevents writing these files desktop.ini in general to Windows 7?

Thank you very much for your answers! :)

    Kind regards
    René

    Hello

This file will be always included when burning data on the disk as it is by design and the file is required to be included. Therefore, there is no other way to exclude the file when burning the disc.

Do not delete anything because you can't get rid of the virus by deleting everything simply. You should run a virus scan. Make sure you have an antivirus premium so that you will be protected.

  • How to remove photos from the desktop while maintaining in the Photoshop Elements Organizer?

How to remove photos from the desktop while maintaining in the Photoshop Elements Organizer?  My office is now crowded with the photos that I can't recycle because they then 'not found."  The image, but not the data is always in the Organizer, but I imagine that it would disappear once I have stop and restart my laptop.  I want to clear my desktop, but keep the photos!

    annab72712181 wrote:

OK, that's a lot of sense.  But I still don't know what I have to do them down the office without losing them.

If you move from your Explorer or finder in a given folder, you will not lose them and they will disappear from your desktop.

If you want to use the Organizer to keep track of your photos in the catalog, use the Organizer, not the Explorer / finder to move them to another folder on the desktop.
