How to rename a folder?

I can't locate the command to rename a bookmark - I looked in "Show all bookmarks" and then "Organize Favorites".

Use show all bookmarks, or organize Favorites, they both open the bookmarks library or the Bookmarks Manager. If you select a folder or a bookmark, its information is displayed and can be edited. AFAIK the name still shows by default, columns and other elements are optional.

You can also do this in the properties via the context menu.
It is not possible in the Manager of bookmarks (library), but should be possible in all other cases, the sidebar and menu as the menu bookmarks and the drop-down list "Show bookmarks".

  • How to rename a folder created by Windows

    Hello

After setting up my windows (as a first use), Windows has automatically created several files on the laptop.  But in the process, I accidentally got my name and the system took just as a completion.  I mean - for example, my name is Smith, after typing Smi I touched something by accident and Windows took "smi" under my name.  Now, I changed the username and the name of the computer with no problems.  However, I also want to change the name of the folder in this path: Computer: \Packard Bell (C): \Users:\Smi I want to change it back to Smith.

    Advice please?

Take a look at this thread:

    http://answers.Microsoft.com/en-us/Windows/Forum/windows_vista-files/can-i-change-a-particular-user-name-in-cusers/71747b3e-F5de-4346-b54a-11d2ef6d2d30

It's quite complicated. If you don't have a compelling reason to change it, I would live with it.

  • Rename a folder?

    Am I missing something?

I made several folders to organize my apps by long pressing the home screen. Now, how to rename them? They are simply called "the folder '! How useful is that all organizing?

    Anyone know?

In the meantime, I'm using an app called Apps Organizer and it works well except the icons on their records are so tiny. Not the same size as when I organize via a Droid folder. But at least I can organize...

So, does anyone know how to rename a folder Droid?

  • Rename the folder to the user files

In Vista, I can't rename a folder of the user.  This computer used to be used by someone else, and I can't rename the folder so everything I do Gets the tag with his name on it.  I changed the name of the computer and log in name.  Can I change any other user except this one folder.  Any ideas how to rename this folder?

It sounds like a problem with permissions for me (he does not resemble a corrupted profile) - you try to use its files under your user name and the system wants as his user name.  The solution is to give your full user name to all records in his profile and then to take possession of all the files in the profile - then you will have the rights you need.

To view your permissions, right-click on the file/folder, click Properties, and check the Security tab.  Check the permissions you have by clicking on your user name (or group of users).  Here are the types of permissions, you may have: http://windows.microsoft.com/en-US/windows-vista/What-are-permissions.  You must be an administrator or owner to change the permissions (and sometimes, being an administrator or even an owner is not sufficient - there are ways to block access (even if a smart administrator knows these ways and can move them - but usually should not because they did not have access, usually for a very good reason).)  Here's how to change the permissions of folder under Vista: http://www.online-tech-tips.com/windows-vista/set-file-folder-permissions-vista/.  To add take and the issuance of right of permissions and ownership in the right click menu (which will make it faster to get once it is configured), see the following article: http://www.mydigitallife.info/2009/05/21/take-and-grant-full-control-permissions-and-ownership-in-windows-7-or-vista-right-click-menu/.

To resolve this problem with folders, appropriating the files or the drive (as an administrator) and give you all the rights.  Right-click on the folder/drive, click Properties, click the Security tab and click on advanced and then click the owner tab.  Click on edit, and then click the name of the person you want to give to the property (you may need to add if it is not there--or maybe yourself). If you want that it applies to subfolders and files in this folder/drive, then check the box to replace the owner of subcontainers and objects, and click OK.  Back and now there is a new owner for files and folders/player who can change the required permissions.  You can change now switched to read-only (even if the main folder indicates that they are always read-only - you can access yourself as the owner).  You can keep them in read-only to other users, customers and administrators even (although they can support themselves and access, if they wish, and it is really not that you can do to stop it except protect the file with a password by using a 3rd party product).  This should also give you access to open and work with all of the files in these filders, as if they were in your file.  Here is more information on the ownership of a file or a folder: http://www.vistax64.com/tutorials/67717-take-ownership-file.html.  To add take ownership in the menu of the right click (which will make it faster to get once it is configured), see the following article: http://www.howtogeek.com/howto/windows-vista/add-take-ownership-to-explorer-right-click-menu-in-vista/.

You can also create a folder in your profile named username of the other person and move the files in this folder.  He needs to pick up the permissions and attributes of the new folder (YOUR user profile folder) and you won't need to go to his profile whenever you want to get one of his records.  You may still need to change the permissions and/or ownership if you do this - it would be just to make things easier and quicker to access.

Good luck and I hope this helps!

    Hello Tiffy.T,

Thanks for the return of the response.  If this happened recently, I suggest to perform a restore of the system to a point in time before you rename the folder.  Please let us know on this status.

Moved the folder "Pictures" of Mac and catalog image files shows no images. Cannot navigate to the appropriate folder in 'Files' Panel and cannot rename the folder "Images". How can I reconnect catalog image files?

    You opened an empty catalog.

You can try the following two steps to open the appropriate catalog file.

    1. Use the file-> open recent, open the list of all catalogs
    2. If this does not work, you will need to find the appropriate help for your operating system catalog file and double-click it to open it.
  • How do I rename the folder of bookmarks 'Unsorted Bookmarks '? or add a folder at this level?

With the help of Windows8 Firefox EU euballot - 1.1.
Try to rename the folder of bookmarks 'Unsorted Bookmarks'? or add a folder at this level?
I tried the suggestions in the forum (ie. Shift ctrl B); access to the file through library; all no chance.

When you try to add a new folder on the same level as the 'Unsorted Bookmarks' folder, the new folder appears in the folder "Unsorted Bookmarks" and not on the same level.

    Something that I missed?
    Thanks for your suggestions.

I do not recommend this. IIRC, users have mentioned that this folder has been renamed, when they started a new "Unsorted Bookmarks" folder has been created automatically when Firefox.

It does not appear when I right-click on ay other file or folder, but not in the start menu. I can also drag an item any within the start menu.
So I can not at all to customize (already tried with F2, does not or)

What should I do to rename, drag the items from the start menu?

Thank you for your kind contributions,

    Hi mate

I assume you are using Win7. Right?

Cannot rename files (programs) that appear in the Start Menu.

    You can ONLY rename folders.
If you click on all programs, then you should also see some folders there.
Right click on the folder and you should see the option rename.
Choose this option and then you should be able to rename the folder

How to rename multiple files with extension in windows XP.

    1. If you want to simply rename the extension, open a run window (Windows Logo key + R), type cmd and press ENTER. Using the CD (Change Directory) command, navigate to the folder in question. Now, type ren *.mp3, *.mp4, and press enter (note the two spaces in the command). Note, rename mp3 MP4 is just an example of the command.
