How to: restrict connections to my computer remotely?

Recently, I was looking to set up the connection on my computer.  I wonder if there is a way to limit the connection to a pre-designate ip address range.  I understand that the best way to prevent the unauthorized access to the machine should have a password (which I did not), but still, it would be good to know that only some outside computers would be able to attempt to connect.

I saw that on systems properties, there is a place to allow only certain users to have rights of desktop connection remotely, via but it'snot what I'm trying to do.

If there is information you have regarding this please post a reply

You can do this by setting the scope of remote desktop rules in the firewall.

Open the "Windows with advanced security firewall" tool. In the search box, type firewall and then click it. Click on the 'inbound rules. Scroll to the rules of the remote desktop. There may be more than one. You have to change all the most active, i.e. those who are green. Change the scope to allow only the desired IP addresses.

    Hello

In this scenario, the only way to reset the password is to use the password reset disk. If you have created the disk of your computer, you can check out the article below to use.

  • How can I connect to the computer without the icon?

Original title: Inadverdently deleted the icon for the administrator who has passed, can recover us it and password?

Mother-in-law belonging to this computer and we do not have access to administrator... we may have found the password but have removed the icon and cannot locate the account to connect?  Is there hope for us?

Once connected to your computer, bring up a command prompt window...
    Start-> Run-> "cmd".
    and enter the command:
    net localgroup administrators
This will give you a list of users of your system with administrator privileges.  Once you know the user name, restart your machine or logoff to access your logon screen.  Then press Ctrl-Alt-Del twice to bring up a classic logon window.  Enter the administrator user name, then the password.  If everything is copacetic, it will record you as an administrator.

    1. are you using cable or wireless network?

2 are all computers that are running Windows 7 on the network?

What version of the operating system Windows am I running?

    http://Windows.Microsoft.com/en-us/Windows7/help/which-version-of-the-Windows-operating-system-am-i-running

No, Windows does not let you to set passwords that limit access to shared folders. However, if you are not on a domain, you can limit network access to the Public folder by turning password protected sharing or disable. This allows only people with a user account and the password for your computer to access the Public folder over the network.

Whether you are on a domain or not, you can limit access to other folders by choosing to share only with specific people, grant share permissions. Permissions can be granted to an individual or a group of users on the same network, allowing them to access your shared folders. You can also set the level of access, allowing people to just open shared files, or also to change, create, or delete. For more information, see

  • How the auto connect to a computer on the local network

Running xp tries to connect to a VISTA computer via wireless LAN.  After restarting the computer, connect to the printer/fax is available!  This connection is established by clicking in Explorer solutions, NETWORK connections, computer and I am prompted for the password and the computer name.  I wish that other users are able to do this more easily.  Is there a primitive command in a DOS command for example dir .../username=/password=?  I wrote a simple procedure to determine if we are connected, but if we don't, then I want to simplify the process.

    Hi elischneider,

You can disable the sharing option of password on your Vista computer to use the printer/fax without entering the login credentials each time.

  • How can I connect to the computer without the administrator password?

Original title: my daughter locked her computer and can't remember the password.

My daughter has locked her computer and can't remember the password. I'm trying to unlock the computer. The computer is running Windows 7

It is always ask a password :(

You did not say it, but it probably means that your daughter has changed her password and can not remember what she changed. This is why an alternative admin account is absolutely essential. You can get out of this situation as follows:

    1. Set your BIOS so that it uses the DVD drive as its primary boot device.
    2. Start the computer with your Windows 7 repair CD.
    3. Press a key when prompted to boot from the DVD.
    4. Select 'PC Repair' in the menu.
    5. Select 'Repair' when prompted.
    6. When you are prompted, select System Restore.
    7. Configure Windows to a point before you changed the password.
And since you probably do not burn a CD to repair Windows 7 either (which is absolutely essential for people to maintain their own PC), here's how to get one:
    • Burn it on another computer.
    • Borrow one from a friend.
    • Purchase one here: http://systemdiscs.com/
It takes only three minutes to burn a via the control panel / backup and restore.

Original title: what is the default password / restored for samsung i5, intel, windows 7?

I bought a returned a Samsung i5, intel, windows 7, 500 GB, 4 cores.  The guy who initially was sold in October 2012 has decided he wanted more bells/whistles and a system w / Windows 8 (which I despise him!).  He should not have used it very long because it was still covered in a film of plastic on the cover of the keyboard and all the cables.

Problem is... when the laptop has been restored to factory default, they don't tell me what is the default password.  I can't lock my computer without the default password...

Anyone know how to understand it?

Problem is... when the laptop has been restored to factory default, they don't tell me what is the default password.  I can't lock my computer without the default password...

When a machine is restored to the State of the plant and then you are prompted to select your own account name and password. If you are challenged for a password, then the machine is not in "Factory condition" and you must perform a new factory restore.

Original title: HELP! WINDOWS 7 NETBOOK PASSWORD FORGOTTEN?

I am unable to long on my netbook. I read through the posting a lot without results.  I tried to restart in SafeMode (networking), (command prompt) and I'm at my wits end. Need help quickly...

Restart the computer using safe mode, and then log in as administrator. The password is often left blank. You can now set the password for all or part of other users. The next thing is to plan ahead: click Start / Help, then search for help on "password". Follow the instructions to create a key on your USB flash drive file so that you'll never find yourself in this uncomfortable situation.
