How to secure my PC?

Having recently been affected by a Trojan Virus on the home page of ssas-Lang with a Trojan virus, I'm very careful to have remote access and remote market support.

How can I disable these features permanently? and what effect it will have on NECESSARY features as well as updates of windows etc going?

I worry about having to MANUALLY updatingother programsbut of my SYSTEM (windows) must be tightened!

I am using windows 7 64 bit with IE9

For some time my IE has been freezing and embezzling and all kinds of madness!

I ran microsoft security essentials (microsoft security essentials Team Bravo!-your product caught the virus but could not remove the root cause, because she seems to detect every so often (as shown in the time of detection!))

Bad AVG show you down the suctomer!

I have a terabyte of disk and cannot dispense with the stupid virus writers files!

  • How many security managers can be saved by the JVM?

Hi my basic question is, how responsible of security cannot exist by JVM? Sorry to ask this question. I'm a bit confused.

There is no limit to how many instances of SecurityManager built you can create.

It may be only a security manager by the JVM
or it will be one by the classloader?
each class loader can cause its own security manager or

  • How to secure sharing

I wonder if anyone can help secure my network storage.

I have a router connected to a drive of 1 t of Buffalo. The router is available wireless devices a dozen (all represented) which includes two CCTV cameras that save their recordings by ftp on a regular basis. Live camera images are also observable on http. This drive (and only in this drive) are being infected on a regular basis by the Trojan SCR which is to be taken by my AV defences.

I don't know how this Trojan is happen, my thought is to reduce access to the NAS drive until I no longer see it reappear. Is it possible that I can accomplish this? Ideally, I would like to be able to specify the access that cameras, devices and users can have and systematically deny access in writing up what I have find the source.

I think I found the problem.

When I installed security cameras, I put them up to ftp images of their internal storage to the share. I have configured to use the username admin and the password (not standard). I enabled ftp access in the router GUI, but I have not defined the password protection setting (I have now by your link).

My part was exposed to anonymous access so I suspect a bot or it's tested my IP, concluded the part to be open and the Trojan horse in each directory. Nothing on the other than images of security part, so nothing worth stealing.

I don't remember if the router GUI has password protection enabled by default, but if not, I think that this should be the default value so that all those who want to turn off have to do it on purpose.

I will observe the share in the next few days and check that no other villains appear.

    Thank you very much.

at this moment I have Windows security essentials. but I want to change it to windows defender, how to make the switch?

    No, don't do that.

    Windows Defender is anti-spyware.
Microsoft Security Essentials (MSE) is a combination of anti-virus and anti-spyware.

MSE will disable Windows Defender because he has his own Defender. Running 2 defenders is redundant and also create conflicts.

Keep the MSE and you do not need Windows Defender.

Is there another reason you want Windows Defender instead of MSE?

  • How to secure the network after reset of the router WRT54G2

    Hello

I could reset the WRT54G2 router with no problems, I have the IP address as 192.68.2.1 right now, but when I try to record things in the wireless security mode to make my secure system loses connectivity, fall of red zone. Then I can not connect to 192.68.2.1 more. How can I make the network secure? I usually follow the steps for making it from docs online but seems to have problems with it. Is that I can make it safe with the 192.68.1.1 or the amount of the fine with 192.68.2.1?

    San

Make sure that your computer is connected to the router by an Ethernet cable, if you try to change the settings on your router using a wireless computer, then you will face this problem. So wired your computer to the router, turn off the WiFi feature on your router and then changes on your router and you should be to save your router settings.

A person who has the following text will always be able to access a computer. This applies to any operating system, not just Windows. Announcing the details here would be a violation of the code of conduct.

  • Adding Start Menu items. How the security he she?

    Hello

I installed two apps (Metatrader 4.0) on 2 separate files and during the process of installation in two different Start Menu items (names). Only is shown in my Start Menu. I have already tweaked apps and have both appear in my Start Menu. I just (very) recently did a clean install of my system. I have 2 external hard drives and network drives 2. I had problems with the owners, the permissions and access rights but have finally fixed (see my post - http://answers.microsoft.com/en-us/windows/forum/windows_7-security/how-do-i-reset-the-security-settingsuser/11d336a3-5d72-4168-98b1-f00977418c40).

My question: how save is just go to C:\Program Data and add the items in the Start Menu for the second installation I've done. The one that is currently contained in C:\Program Data. I need to change the Windows registry too?

Thanks for the tips. I need her and don't want to ruin things once again. BTW, I'm running Windows 7 Pro 64 - bit SP1. I never realized that Windows 7 applies a strict policy of ACL (Access Control List) and now I'm a little more careful.

    See you soon.

Good installers you ask if you want its application shortcuts visible to all the users or just for the current user. Shortcuts are then placed according to your answer. If your installer does not ask this question then you can fix things later by adding or removing shortcuts to the subfolder of program data. It is a matter of convenience, not 'security '. The presence or absence of a shortcut has no effect on the functioning of Windows.

There is no need to hack the registry when you place a shortcut.

  • F4580 - How to secure neighbors?

    I hope this isn't a stupid question!

My PC have passwords and I use their mac address for my security settings of the internet router.  Having the printer wifi after finding the MAC address by using the printing system now installed on my router.

I guess that my neighbor (of hell) can also 'see' this printer wireless somehow.  How can I add a password or secure the printer istelf... or is it?

Sorry if this isn't in the jargon

    Thank you

Once the printer connects to a wireless network, it does not itself for other networks to connect to. So, technically, they cannot "see" the printer. So don't not on the neighbors. They can't do anything.
