How to set a unknown file type?

I installed Adobe Reader software that has associated with .lnk files itself. But the .lnk files must be unknown. Now all shortcuts, try to open with Adobe Reader.

Adobe has published an article that deals with this type of problem:

http://helpx.Adobe.com/Acrobat/KB/application-file-icons-change-Acrobat.html

Make sure you have a backup and recovery strategy in case the suggested solutions make the situation worse.

I couldn't read the article you wrote, but thanks.
To resolve this problem, I have try this path in RegEdit:
HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Classes\.lnk
then deleted OpenWithProgIds folder.
Now the .lnk files are shortcuts again.

    * original title - libraries and some type of file

    Hello

Libraries should show only the files that are contained in the files that you add to this library.

    Example:

In Windows Explorer, select the Document library.

In the window display on the right, click the link x sites in the top/left of the window.

This will open a dialog box displays all the folders that have been added to this library.

By default, the Library of Documents should show the folders My Documents and public records .

If there is other records showing that you don't want in this library, Select the folder and click on the Remove button.

You can also right click the documentslibrary, in the Part of Navigation and select Properties. At the bottom of the Properties dialog box, click on the button by default is restore to remove all additional files have been added.

  • How can I change the file type extension?

    Help please!

I was working in Paint.net and thought that my changes have been saved but I incorrectly saved in Paint.net it as 'nom.1' and making it inaccessible to paint.net or any program being the type of file 'file '.  I then changed the name of "long.bmp", and who seemed like he did to be accessible but Paint.net is still not open it.  On another file that I made the same mistake on, I changed the name to "name2.pdn" that worked and I am able to open it properly.  I tried to change the name on the premiere of "name.pdn" in Windows Explorer, but for this file, it only changes the name "name.pdn" and not the extension.  It's always a ".bmp" file  How can I change to a file real '.pdn '?

  • photos of e-mail attachment. How to set a binding file to this attachment.

My sister, who lives in a hundred miles of me sent me a lot of e-mail with an attachment.  When I try to open the file, I get a message that the file does not have a program associated with it for performing this action, create an association in the set Associations control panel.  I am 63 years old and not computer savvy.  Could someone help me please. Thank you; BEWILDEREDME.

    Hi Bewilderedme,

Welcome to the responses of the Forums.  I'll see if I can help you.

First of all, let's make sure that you can see the file type.   Go to start / Control Panel / folder Options / View and scroll through the list and check box or the button to view the hidden files, only show system files and clear one to hide spot known file types.  Click OK and close.

Now let's check the attachment.  What is the file type?  It's the three-digit extension that follows the name of the file and the point (such as .doc or .jpg or something like that).

Now, go to start / Default programs / associate a file or Protocol with a program / and scroll down the list until you find this extension.  Double-click it to open it and see if there is a default program.   T it?  If not (or if it does not appear) then you don't have a program installed on your system to read this type of file (this is why you can't do).  If you post here the file type, I'll try to find one free to sit.  If she does have a default program, click on the default options of the program and see if there is that of the alternatives listed that you can try instead - try them.  If this does not work, validate the options it lists as well as the file type in your response.  What e-mail program you are using (name and version)?

I hope this helps.  Post back with answers to my questions if it does not solve the problem.

    Good luck!

  • Cannot set association .rb file type

The procedure that should work but do not:

    I use Windows 7.

In Control Panel > programs > always open a file type in a specific program...

Select the line .rb and click on change program...

In the 'Open with' dialog box, click Browse...

Navigate to the target folder and click on the exe file. In this case, it's the ruby.exe which is desired. Then open.

Problem: the selected ruby.exe does not appear int the "Open with" dialog box

Note: I use an alpha version of the installer who installed Ruby (to get the version of 'edge') and the Setup program may not have set shell registry settings. However, I need a way to make this work so that I can run .rb files go Explorer with a single click (double). Cmd, I can run a script with the "Ruby script.rb" command, so there is nothing wrong with the executable. It's just that there is no binding of shell with .rb files.

I found the problem in my case. In the HKEY_CLASSES_ROOT registry > Applications > ruby.exe > shell > open > command, the default value is string value refers to a deprecated location for the ruby.exe. Without a doubt, this is a matter during a previous installation. Change it to the new location where currently ruby.exe solves the problem.

I think that (a) the applet of the control panel should be able to detect an inconsistency like this when we go through the steps I outlined above should provide at least a pop-up information, and (b) it takes a good documentation on microsoft.com to suggest this fix.

  • How to save as Excel file type?

There is no type of Excel file under the feature "save under".  Is to include the Excel file type under this list anyway?  Attached snapshot.

    Hi NiCoder,

You have a number of different options to get data from the data portal DIAdem to Excel:

    1) record in TDM or PDM file and use the free Excel TDM importer to load the data into Excel

    2) Save to CSV file and use the Excel import feature built-in ASCII file to load the data into Excel

    (3) load the GPI - DLLS gfsexcel.dll and use the "file > save under...". ' option to export a data *.xls file

    (4) use an own VBScript to automate one of the above 3 options

    (5) use a VBScript custom to directly send each channel data of the data portal to a column of values in Excel via ActiveX

(Option 1) and (2) are easier if you want a purely interactive solution.  Option 1) exports all data and all the properties values.  Option 2) exports all data values and the name of each channel in the data portal, but none of the other properties.  If you choose to use option 3), know in advance that this feature is limited to 255 columns and will not export custom properties, only the properties that existed in DIAdem 8.1.  (Option 4) can add in any custom properties that do not appear in option 2).  Option 5) can export all data and all custom, properties but there are also the slowest option and implies more programming.

  • How to set a default file for the recording of the work type

Looking and looking, is there really no way to define the type of default file for the recording of the Photoshop work?

Not save as.  After this adjustment, just use Ctrl s

    Try this:

    Make a new file

Save as and Ctrl, click on the PNG format

Be another file and use Ctrl s.  The Save dialog box opens and the format will always be PNG

Use Save as, and Ctrl-click on PDF

Make another new file and Ctrl s.  PDF will now be the format.

    Report.trace ("IMG_COMPRESS", "End doFilter", null);

    Return FilterImplementor.CONTINUE;

There is no function with addFile in the DataBinder class.

    Help, please

As I understand it, you create your own compression via a custom filter and you want to replace the original file with this compression.

That being said, why not do exactly as that - the original file is placed in some ~ temp directory on the server (after download), so go ahead, create compression and put it instead of the original file. One thing to consider is the MIME type - if replacing it, it should be the same; If it is not that you had to adjust first some metadata.

  • How can I get the file type?

    Hello

I try to get the type of a specified file. But I don't want to get the file extension.

Instead I used the UNIX file command:

    file - mime-type myfile.myExtension

Then I execute this command in my java class using the exec() method. Everything works fine. The main problem is that I need the file command in my BONES. If I run my java code on a Windows machine, it does not work. So, I'm just wondering if anyone knows how to get the type of file in a different way?.

    Kind regards
    Hopcroft

A quick search on google (java file mime type) faces up to this:

    http://www.rgagnon.com/javadetails/Java-0487.html

There is certainly no reliable way, but perhaps one that is listed on this page is "good enough."

  • Safeguarding of documents through scripting: name of the active file Get and set save path/file type

    doc.saveAs (saveName, saveOpts);

    Everything works well except:

    (1) it saves the document under the name of AdobeIllustratorBackground rather than the name of the document

In addition, I don't know how to tell the script to save in EPS and specify the save location.

Could someone give me some advice?          Thank you!

  • Newbie how to set the variable of type element?

I'm sure that since I am just getting started it's a common error, please help and thank you. All variables must be defined as messages types and reside in a WSDL file?

    Thank you
    John

    Hi John,.

I don't know if it is possible to import a schema in a process directly. What I usually do is to import the WSDL describing the interface. This is the file that you use to define the client-partnerlink. If your schema is imported correctly, you can access the type definition via the partner-links-node in the type selector (this works at least in JDEV 10.1.3.3 and 10.1.3.4).
To import your schema in the wsdl, you must switch to the display structure in wsdl editor and after a right-click on the node types to select "insert types." Inside types, you insert the XML schema within the schema, you must insert an import tag. The properties for this tag are the location of the file and the target namespace used in the schema. The XML structure that results should look like this:

    -----

    namespace = "http://xmlns.oracle.com/Order_Booking___Shipment" / >
