What is the Internet service you have now (dial-up, DSL, cable, FiOS) and from which supplier?

Your computer is connected to a wireless router for Internet access?

Did you keep Windows up-to-date by automatically download and install all critical updates?

  • How can I speed up my internet connection?

How can I speed up my internet connection?

    Hi vatsrajiv,

If you have problems with your internet connection speed you better communicate with your suppliers of Internet services (ISP) technical support team. Internet high speed is governed by many factors, including your distance from your PBX and the time of day, you use the internet. If you're more than a mile from your phone (I think) Exchange and then speed will be reduced due to degradation of the signal. Yet here in the United Kingdom, resulting speeds are advertised as 8 MB and above (up to 20 or more in some areas), however, in reality, you are lucky to get an average speed of 2.5 to 4 MB on an 8 MB line.

Another factor is the time of day you access internet. Peak your ISP is likely to "cap" of the connection speed. In other words, more people using your lower ISP connection speed system. Another factor is whether a "router" is declining in some parts of the world where your ISP traffic fell through. Also, this may cause more slow responses of the web pages. Yesterday, I visited a webpage which, under normal conditions, takes about 15 seconds to load. On this occasion, it took more than 70 seconds to load.

You also don't say if you are using broadband or dial-up connection services. While we always assume that everyone has broadband is not always the case. Remote connections are still alive and well in many parts of the countryside, especially those. A dial is notoriously slow compared to broadband by default.

You can check your ISP website and check their "State of the line" to see if they have problems. If all goes well, it might be useful to contact your ISP and get them to check your phone line, just in case where there is a problem with your telephone line or even your router if you are on broadband.

  • How you would solve intermittent Internet connectivity?

How you would solve intermittent Internet connectivity?

    Hello Chit mickolo,

Thanks for posting. Intermittent connectivity can occur for several reasons. First to get a better idea of your installation. Do you use the dial-up or high speed internet? You have wireless or wired connectivity, and whether this happens at a time. You have multiple computers on your network? When this happens does occur with all or a computer? What troubleshooting steps have you made so far if necessary to solve this problem?

Once again thanks for posting and I can't wait to hear back on your part.

  • Time Capsule has lost the Internet connection and DNS servers

I use a Time Capsule for Time Machine via Ethernet backups for a couple of years, use it in mode bridge taking its Internet connection directly from my router and connected in turn by Ethernet to my iMac. (Most of the time that I also had wifi off on my iMac and took my Internet directly via the TC Ethernet connection.) A few months ago I upgraded to El Capitan, and the TC has lost its connection Internet (flashing yellow). A few days later I drove back to the Yosemite (for other reasons - Mail had gone mad) to restore a backup of the TC and everything was fine again for a few months. It may or may not be meaningful I plugged TC yesterday to new laptop for my wife to support for the first time, and this laptop is running El Capitan. Since then, the TC has once more lost its Internet connection and DNS settings and is stuck on flashing orange. By clicking on the 'Internet connection' status alert, tells me that the TC is not a valid IP address.

I have reset the TC, repeatedly and reconfigured but all without success. After consulting the other discussions, I also tried giving the unit an alphanumeric name with no spaces & special characters and change the IPv6 "Link-local" configuration only, but this did not affect the result. And I updated the firmware for good measure. Then I unplugged overnight and carried out a full power cycle the steps recommended here, restart the router, TC and the computer (and performed a factory reset on the TC, while the router & computer was turned off). After doing that, the TC has become undetectable by AirPort Utility, until I have reset reconfigured once again, he and ended up in the same place.

It may or may not be important to mention the following:

1 when you set the TC after a reset, I repeatedly selected the option of adding to an existing network instead of create a network, but the installation wizard who ignored each time.

    2. in the installation each time, this point, I shows me the following, which seems to suggest that there is a problem but don't say so explicitly:

I would be grateful for any advice.

Weird how everything's going well for a few years and then crazy when you have something will change.

El Capo adds some network problems more... but something could be fundamentally wrong with the installer.

Your current configuration, it is apparently bridged but cannot get an IP address. The address 169.254 is give it since it's self generated.

You need to do a manual installation. It simply means the Assistant is unable for any reason to be your network so start over and do it manually of misfortune (wow, or also possible misery, woah being where you are now!) to go...!

    1. I need to know what modem you are connected. Make and model please?

    2. the most important. What is the main router on your network or a modem?

I gave the edge to make manual settings a few times. Somehow my instructions for Yosemite/El Capo got lost... I'll try and hunt down them. In the meantime, the basic method remains the same.

It is not so difficult... You just know where you're going before you start.

somethings which may or may not apply: internet TV seems to work better in media center.  All updates have been applied to H.P. of Vista SP2. Netflix works fine in ie8 (such as the internet, of course). Tried to delete all the Internet Options, delete browsing history section of Internet Explorer. I get the same error message with my windows 7 professional media center, but netflix seems to play anyway (no game with vista). Someone else knows Netflix not being is not able to connect?  It started yesterday (30/12/2009) for me.  I looked fine the day before without problem.  The message I get says "there was a problem of data recovery.  Check the works of your internet connection and try again. Ok.  I make it work with both my VMC - one with the service pack and the other without.  My OS updates have been loaded in early December, so I don't see how this could it be.  I searched and found this problem has come up before, but I have not found a solution.  I made NO changes to my HTPC.

Those who have and solved this problem.

UPDATE UPDATE UPDATE UPDATE UPDATE UPDATE *.

2009-01-05 has attempted to start Netflix this morning and you know, it works on both my VMCs.  That's the good news.  So now the real questions are:

Only 20 people reported it as a problem and only 6 on the green button.  I believe that it affected all the world with Media Center.  So why not discussed much?

It already happened, causes a stir and silently slips without known cause or cure.  How can we find out what caused this and how to prevent it from happening again in the future?

Thanks for posting in the Microsoft community!
You have reached the right forum for your question. If I understand correctly, you receive a error message "we cannot connect you right now. Check your internet connection and try again"when you try to install Windows 8 I suggest you follow the troubleshooting steps to check if it helps.

Just reply with the results. I'd be happy to help you further.
  • speed up your internet connection in Windows 8

I've seen a lot of messages that mention users notice a slow internet connection more after moving to Windows 8 for the wired connections and wireless.

Many of these problems are due to drivers still set up for network cards.  However, there are a little more at stake.  Windows 8 has many built-in features that use internet connection permanently.  Specifically, I am referring to many of the 'live' on Metro user interface applications.  These include things like pulling photos from Facebook, update of headlines and weather updates.  To account for these features Microsoft allows Windows to reserve a percentage of bandwidth for these features.

It is less noticeable on connections faster broadband, but can be significant on slower connections.  Here are some things you can try to speed up the connection.

1 make sure you have the correct driver installed.

HP plans to support most of the laptops purchased after October 1, 2011.  You can check to see if HP has tested your laptop with Windows 8 by visiting this Web site.

Currently, many hardware manufacturers have drivers available.  However, the first step is to check that it is not a specific driver available for your laptop computer network hardware.  You will need to follow the following instructions locate the number for your product.  After your head number product on HP's Support site and see if there are all the drivers available.  If so, install the appropriate driver.  If this is not the case, bookmark the page and check back regularly for updates.

    2. turn off or lower the amount of reserved bandwidth.

As stated previously, Windows 8 automatically reserves a percentage of bandwidth for use with 'live' on Metro user interface applications.  First of all, you want to access the "Run" dialog box... ».  You can do this in the office or the metro by pressing Windows + X key combination and selecting 'run '.  You can type "gpedit.msc" and press ENTER.  On the left side, you will see "Configuration of the computer;" expand this list by clicking the arrow to the left.  Once this section is expanded you can select and expand "Administrative Templates" section, and then expand the "Network" section  Finally, you will see an entry called "QoS Packet" schedular, select this option.   After you select the QoS Packet Scheduler, you will see that the main part of the window has been set.  You will want to select "bookable bandwidth limit.    You can either reduce the percentage that is reserved or turn it off completely from here.  This should help speed up the internet connection.

I hope this information is useful!

  • not working Windows 8 key error "we can't connect now check your internet connection, and then try again.

Original title: windows 8 key does not.

    Hello everyone

I am posting this after about 4 days of trying literally everything what is written on the internet.

I have a legit windows key 8 I bought when windows 8 launch and have installed a clean install of windows 8 as many times, this previous Monday, that I fell on the error

We can not connect now check your internet connection and try again.

for the last four days, I tried all that you have to try, setting clock, update windows 7, disabling AV and firewall, still called supported from microsoft and they have taken control of my laptop for about an hour and tried to make it work, but it didn't.

Now, I tried my key on a laptop of friends and its connection to the network that are completely different from mine, got the same error, so I asked him to try his own key and HE WORKED his key was working at the mine was not. I never gave my key to anyone, nor to my knowledge we never used it, I'm sure that this is the key that is the problem now. How can I get this problem?

    Thank you.

Try to activate Windows 8 by telephone as follows:

Press the Windows key + x then click Run, then type: slui.exe 4
(Another method: press Windows + r and then type: slui.exe 4)

    Then press the ENTER"" key.

    Choose the option "activate phone".
