To replace the hard disk, you must open the computer case. I recommend you contact the manufacturer of the computer or any local technician for assistance.

Since you have a Dell and a recovery CD and not a recovery Partition, check how many partitions you need by using disk management:

    http://www.theeldergeek.com/disk_management.htm

In case you have a partition with the operating system and a partition of the utility partition, I would only recommend formatting the partition from the OS. The Partition utility can be very useful.

    Hello

You received with the laptop Toshiba Recovery CD! Am I wrong?
    So what s the problem?

Simply insert the CD and try to boot from this CD.
The restore CD contains all Toshiba drivers, tools and utilities Windows OS + additional software like Win DVD for example.
The installation will set the laptop to factory settings, but will also format the HARD drive!

Up to now, we come to the point 3; --> How do I save the data
If you have purchased a second HDD and connect it to the USB port and transfer all the necessary files on the second HDD
If you have purchased only the HARD drive, then you will need a USB HDD 2.5 case.

    Best regards

  • Replace the hard drive and memory - guaranteed?

Recently, I replaced the hard drive on the Wyvern with a 640 GB WD Scorpio Blue after finding that the Toshiba disk stock was reallocating too many sectors (readers are functionally identical), and memory has been updated there is a 2 x 4 GB G.SKILL Kit (from stock 1x4Go, 1x2GB).  My laptop now needs to be repaired for hardware problems totally unrelated to these parties (specifically, one damaged USB and Ethernet Jack).  Overall coverage is affected by these parts or these replacements continue to allow outside replaced part complete warranty coverage?  (The Service Manual indicates that both of these parts are replaceable by the user.)

Watch more closely the warranty conditions and found:

This limited warranty [...] does not extend to any product [...] that has been damaged or rendered defective [...] (g) by modification or service by a person who [...] (iii) your own installation of end-user replaceable HP or HP parts if available for your product in the country or region maintenance. [...]

The way I read the warranty conditions, the conditions above may apply, because the parts are not 'HP or HP approved parts', but only if the defect is actually caused by the replacement of these parts.  In addition, the Federal law stipulates that the simple use of third parties do not void a warranty (15 USC §2302 (c); Please note that I am not a lawyer).

Anyone else agree or disagree with that?

Edit: Because no one else answered, I will accept this position as being the solution.

  • Computer HP Desktop M1188A upgraded the HARD drive and memory upgrade possible

    Hello

I have a HP Desktop M1188A running XP Media Center 2005.  The computer runs very slowly and was only 27.6 GB of free space left on the hard drive with a total area of 149GB.  It has 512 MB of memory installed a 4 GB maximum.  Speed supported is PC3200 MB/sec.  Type of DDR.  DIMM slots 4.  160 GB 7200 RPM SATA hard drive.  Fact hard drive 160 GB 7200 RPM SATA means it is a SATA connection?

I want to switch the HARD disk like this I hope that the computer runs faster.  I'm a complete novice with respect to the operation of computers.  What to buy to upgrade the HARD drive?

Will it also upgrade the installed memory?  If so, what to do?

    Everything I need to know?

    Thank you.

    See you soon,.

    Michelle,

Try for battery HP to THE Bing search engine, I found several sites in line with the Chargers and batteries. BattDepot Australia seems to have decent prices... At$ 24.49 for the loader and THE $37,49 for battery. If you have not yet checked the HP battery reminder page, I recommend you do this first.

  • HARD drive gone bad. How to replace the HARD drive and reinstall operating system without a recovery disk?

I have a HP with Windows 7 Home Premium TouchSmart tm2.  The HARD drive is clicking and will not start.  Error: Device not found Boot.  I guess I have to replace the HARD drive, but how can I restore/reinstall operating system without a recovery disk?  Windows was preinstalled, and I have the product key.  Thank you.

    Hello:

You can order a recovery disc defined by following the instructions on the link below.

    http://support.HP.com/us-en/document/c00810334

    or...

You can download the 32-bit or 64-bit version of windows 7 Home Premium ISO on the link below and use your product key to activate the installation.

    http://www.mydigitallife.info/official-Windows-7-SP1-ISO-from-Digital-River/

You need a program that will be able to burn ISO files so that the DVD is bootable DVD burning. Burn at the slowest possible speed for best results.

Then install all the drivers you need for your PC support and driver page.

  • Satellite A660 - 1 H 7 - How to replace the hard drive and reinstall Windows 7

    Hi all

I'm frequently getting warnings about the health of my hard drive and while it is not catastrophic, I've been umming and ahhing (?) on the replacement of an SSD in the future anyway so thought it was a good excuse.

My real question is, what the procedure is perfect (or greater) for Windows 7 migration to the new drive? I think I want a default installation because this laptop has had so many programs installed/uninstalled it's probably a bit of a mess.

I have created 4 recovery DVD disks but have seen on the net they don't work and that download an ISO with the vignette product key can work either. I can't really afford interruption much (or all) so I try to do it safely and securely as possible!

Any help would be greatly appreciated and thanks for your time,.
    Scott

    > what the procedure is perfect (or greater) for Windows 7 migration to the new drive?

I think the fastest solution is the use of the recovery disk that you created using the recovery media creator Toshiba. I don't see a reason why it should not work as part of a new SSD.

    I also have another recommendation.
You can create an image of your current HDD (partitions) using internal Windows 7 Backup and restore
    http://Windows.Microsoft.com/en-us/Windows7/products/features/backup-and-restore

After using the recovery disk, you can use the created image to get the current status.

  • Office jet pro 8500 a: elimination of printer, was this encrypted model? How to destroy the hard drive?

    This model encrypted?

If this is not the case, how to destroy the hard drive? Where is the hard drive?

    Hi @Diane47,

Thanks for joining the Forums of HP Support with your request to printer.

I understand that you have a HP Officejet Pro 8500 has e-all-in-one printer you plan to elimination and you wonder if the hard disk is encrypted and how to destroy the hard drive. I would like to help with that.

HP Officejet Pro 8500 has e-all-in-one printer don't have a hard drive. It contains a very small amout of memory, so it can keep in memory the printer and fax settings.

You can clear the memory by restyoring the printer back to the default values.

    1. on the printer Panel, select Setup.

    2. from the Configuration menu, select Tools.

    3. on the Tools menu, select Restore Factory Defaults.

HP offers to recycle their products for you. If you want to know more about it, please click here.

Please let me know if that solves the problem, or if you need assistance.

  • PS5000 update the hard drive Firmware

    Hello

I have a group of three members (P5000, PS5000e & PS4100) equallogic I used storage Dell Update Manager to update all three to V6.0.11, but when I tried to update V7.0.10, he asked for the firmware of the hard drive for the PS5000. So I downloaded the Firmware of the drive hard v8.0 and tried to apply, it didn't and after reading more far away the ps5000 has a controller of type 5, and it will not apply.

Is it possible to get it to apply, I tried FTP and using the CLI interface but no joy, dell equallogic support will apply the firmware if the PS5000 is no longer under warranty? or what I can do to enforce?

If not can I bypass this firmware of the hard drive and just update the Group of v7.1.8 using ftp and CLI? because the use of the Dell Storage Manager up-to-date it auto selects the box install the disk firmware.

    Kind regards

    Dan

    Hello Dan,.

There is no way to update the firmware of the drive on Type 5 controllers.  No matter how you try to do the upgrade process.

Yes, you can skip the update of the firmware of drive by directly FTP'ng firmware EQL to each Member, and then run the update to the CLI process.

If you have the available series cables I suggest you do updates through the series, or at least check connections series to work on all members.

    Kind regards

    Don

  • How to copy the HARD drive?

After the failure of my screen the technician replaced twice and is trying to arrange a replacement machine. How can I copy the hard drive and all the settings and software from one to the other. I'll have to return the damaged machine when I pick up a new one from the dealer.

    Hello

I guess you will get exactly the same model of laptop. Right?
In this case I would not copy the entire contents of the HARD drive to another HARD drive, but I would just swap the drives.

I guess this would be the simplest method

  • Satellite P10 804: how to remove the HARD drive?

I would like to remove the internal hard disk of 60 GB of my satellite P10 804 and replace it with a bigger drive, but cannot find a way to enter in the case of removing the HARD drive.

Does anyone have the details on how to do?

    Hello

To my knowledge, the HARD drive must be placed under the optical dirve.
To remove the HARD drive, first remove the battery and the optical drive, and then follow the steps below:

    1. remove the four black screws that anchor the shield of aluminum covering the HARD drive and pull it out.
    2. gently pull on the HARD drive the front panel of the computer to disconnect the system board, then pull it out.
    3. remove the four silver screws that attach the HARD drive to the HARD disk case.

But be careful. If you have no experience ask someone with more experience in these replacements.

  • Satellite L300-144 - how to replace the HARD drive?

    Hello!

I have a problem: my laptop is Satellite L300-144, but I don't even know my hard drive model.

Anyone know anything on this subject? And how replcae it? I mean where the hard drive is placed?
And another question: is it available in BestBuy for example?

    THX

    Hello

As Akuma said on the underside of the laptop, you will find a HARD drive cover is fixed by 2 screws I think. If you remove these screws, you can see the HARD drive and remove/Exchange it.

Satellite L300 supports SATA 2.5 hard drives, and you can buy the HARD drive of every computer store where you want to.
I have good experiences with Seagate and Western Digital hard drives but of course, you can buy a disk from a different manufacture. ;)
