How to upgrade to Windows 7 and the computer freezes when I go to print

original title: several questions in fact

I have 2 questions

(1) my son bought a Sony NS Series Notebook for me. It came with a promise that I could upgrade to Windows 7. He tried to update several times and it didn't work. I know little about computers and so I accepted his answer that the Vista operating system is also good. Now I feel all sorts of problems and I told me time and again that it would be better to have windows 7. Any who tried to get the manufacturer to update after the date specified in them?

(2) my son helped connect me to 2 different printers depending on what I need to print. Now, the computer crashes when I go to print. Any advice?

Thank you in advance.
Krystyna

(1) depending on your laptop model and the day when you pruchase, you might be able to take advantage of Windows 7 update, for more information I suggest the Sony site for Windows 7 upgrade:

http://eSupport.Sony.com/us/Perl/os7upgrade.pl

Or you can contact the Sony customer for more details

(2) for printer, the issue can be due to configuration or other reasons, I suggest to update your Windows and make sure printer drivers installed and also try to run:

  • Restart of Windows 7 and the computer freezes at the STATION

Hey guys, I have a very big problem with Windows 7 on my computer. I tried so hard to have Windows 7 installed on my computer, and literally nothing I do works. I'll also post plug at the bottom of this post for reference. This can be a little long, so please try to stick with me. This is a race to the bottom of the problems I encounter.

I can install Windows 7 very well on my computer. I follow the methods that the manual of my motherboard has perfectly and I can get the OS installed and the user is set up, then it takes me to the desktop computer, but right after that, the computer goes through the shutdown process as soon as I click on what it is. I can not click File Explorer, internet Explorer, insert my drivers disk, or do anything at all without the computer go to auto restart. Then when it restarts, the computer completely to the Asus POST screen freezes and I can't do anything. I can't even start the BIOS menu. The only thing I've found that gets the computer not frozen, is:

-cut the power to the computer

    -disconnect the hard drive

-re - turn on the computer

-Turn off the computer and turn off the power

    -reconnect the hard drive

Then only will start the computer again as usual. But as soon as the computer starts Windows 7 and takes me on the desk, the whole process starts all over and I'm caught in this issue of perpetual restart. I have all the drivers installed at all because I can't even get there. Is there anything to solve this problem? I am very frustrated with this issue and all what I am looking for doesn't help at all. Will you please share your knowledge if you have something that will solve this problem, because it might help someone else too.

    Here are my specs:

    Intel i7 6700 k 4.0 ghz

    NVIDIA GTX 1070 8 GB

    16 GB ddr4 ram

    ASUS z170-a

    power supply 750W

240 GB SSD (with 10 Windows installed)

hard drive 1 TB (with Windows 7 installed on it)

Final note: I'm trying to dual boot Windows 7 and Windows 10. Windows 10 works well on my computer, but I have problems with some games on that nobody seems to be able to explain or have a solution for. Research is getting me nowhere as well on this issue. I'm not too worried about this issue right now, but can ask for help on this subject later. As for right now, I just need help for this problem in Windows 7. Any help is appreciated

    Thank you

    Devon

EDIT: I managed to solve the problem of crash.

    Hello Devon,

Thanks for posting your query in Microsoft Community.

We suggest that you use the hard 1 TB with your Windows 7 and divide the 1 TB into two partitions. Afterwards, you can try to re - install each operating system on each partition.

What version of Mac OS X are you using? If the Yosemite, you will need to upgrade to 10.10.1 or higher version.

In any case, start by going in the editor preferences > general, click this button and the restart of the Editor:

  • colored lines appear on the screen and the computer freezes with W7

This happened several times since I got this computer in December.  Lines of color will appear in horizonally across the screen and the computer freezes.  After I have turn it off and start it again, there is no problem.  But is it a problem waiting for one big from appearing in the future?

If this is a new computer, take it back where you got it because it will still be under warranty.

I have a Toshiba Windows Vista laptop and I want to upgrade to Windows 7. I have two user accounts and I was just wondering that during the upgrade can I still keep the files that I have on the accounts or they will be deleted? Thank you.

If you make a way to update your programs and files will be kept. A custom installation will remove your programs and files.

If you are running Windows Vista , in some cases you can proceed directly to Windows 7, and in other cases, you must perform a custom installation. The following table shows what editions of Windows Vista can be upgraded to Windows 7.

    Windows Vista Home Basic

Windows 7 Home Premium, Windows 7 Ultimate

    Windows Vista Edition Home Premium

Windows 7 Home Premium, Windows 7 Ultimate

    Windows Vista Business

Windows 7 Professional, Windows 7 Ultimate

    Windows Vista Ultimate Edition

    Windows 7 Ultimate

    Installation - 'upgrade' means what?
Upgrade means that you can install Windows 7 simply by inserting the Windows 7 upgrade software in the DVD drive of your PC and follow the instructions on the screen. While you are not required to backup and reinstall your files, or reinstall your programs, it is a very good idea to back up your files and settings before you start any upgrade to the software. Get more information on the software updates and best practices .

Installation - what does "Custom (Clean)" Mean?
A custom (clean) installation clears the contents of the hard drive of your PC. Your files, settings, and programs will not be transferred to Windows 7. This means that to install Windows 7, you must:

    • Back up any files and settings you want to keep

    • Install Windows 7

    • Reinstall all your files

    • Reinstall all the programs you want to use.

These four steps take time, skills, techniques and Windows Easy Transfer can help. However, if you are not comfortable with this process, please consider having the installation carried out by a local service provider.

  • roar of hard disk and the computer freezes for a few seconds

My hard drive makes a sound whirring for a few weeks now and when I type in emails or messages like this, the computer freezes for a few seconds. Any ideas how to fix this?

A desktop computer. Your problem could be overheating.

You must remove the side panel right and remove dirt dust bunnies fans. Also, make sure that all the fans are working. Safety switch the computer off and pull the power cable before removing the side panel. You can then move the computer backon and check that the fans are working.

Then, turn off the computer and some time for that cool. It is best to use a wrist band, which you set on the casing of the computer to you the earth before touching anything inside the envelope. You can buy one in a store of computer accessories. Static electricity can damage a motherboard if you don't take precautions.

Then, you use a small brush to remove the sheep of dust around the fan on the processor. I used an electric razor, cleaning brush. I use an Air blower to clean the power supply fan. An air Duster is also useful fopr cleaning keyboards.

Removal of the dust bunnies should reduce the noise that makes your computer. It can also reduce overheating, which can lead to errors of Blue Screen of Death.

Another way to check the hard disk to see if it is overheating is to use HD Tune 2.55 (free):
    http://www.hdtune.com/download.html

You have to scroll the page to see the freeware version.

  • Upgrade to Windows 10 and the lost message filters

Upgrade to Windows 10 last night after having made a backup of Thunderbird with MozBackup. Profile of the restored this morning and lost all my message filters. Also lost all of my archived messages. Changed the path where Thunderbird search messages and more archived returned messages but still have no message at all filters.

in using the menu, select troubleshooting.
    Select the button view profile.
    Close Thunderbird.
Delete everything in the open folder, including subfolders.
Replace it with the same folders of your mozbackup (change Zip file extension and the Treaty as a zip file).
    Launch Thunderbird.

Now you should have all the right files in the right place, so everything should be back.

  • What I forbid my computer before you upgrade to Windows 10 and the format remains the same?

I don't want to do the free update for Windows 10 and I don't want to know that I should have cancelled the computer before doing so.  Then iTunes sees this as a new computer and I have to reauthorize the 10 version of windows.

Withdraw the authorization before upgrade you. He can do no wrong. The library itself should be preserved through the upgrade but see your iTunes for Windows with SyncToy library backup to get advice on the backup of your library and other data. You should back up regularly and particularly before any major change to the system.

  • If I have windows vista on a computer, can I turn it off, buy a new one and get the upgrade to windows 7 on the computer?

I have windows vista (32-bit), so if I sell it for scrap, but keep the license, buy a new computer, install windows 7 (64-bit) by using the upgrade to windows? When I say upgrade I'm talking about the updated version of windows Home premium, i.e. There is a full and then there is the upgrade (only for those who have vista or xp). I'm not worried about any problem of hardware, or drivers or any other problem, just strictly issues of software operating system (between the license). Please just say yes or no and explain if necissary. Thank you.

No, you can't sell the license and keep it at the same time. In addition, the Windows 7 upgrade depends on a license previous qualification. If you use Vista as a qualifying product, it becomes an integral part of the license and is not transferable to another computer.

Since the Windows end user license agreement:

    17. TRANSFER TO A THIRD PARTY. You can transfer the software directly to a not third parties only with the licensed computer. The transfer must include the software and the certificate of Authenticity label. You can't keep all copies of the software or any earlier version. Before any transfer authorized, the other party must accept that this agreement applies to the transfer and use of the software.

  • I have Windows XP and the computer must remember my passwords

    original title: passwords

Hi, I am very new to computers and any qualified. I have Windows XP and you want the computer remember my password so that I don't need to tell or to type them every time, but don't know if I can do it? Penelope

Would be even better if you had some central repository for passwords, IMO.  It's a security not only that I am concerned over - save passwords and such (on web pages and places that can be saved) is a security concern - but what happens when something goes wrong with the computer and you lose all those saved credentials and you have not typed them in so long you really * not * don't forget?  Neither the user name nor password and possibly not even if to use it?

    I recommend KeePass: http://keepass.info/download.html
And keep a copy of the database on an external drive-in case something goes wrong.  In this way he must memorize a unique password OR just have it written down, so you can see the list of the other passwords and user names and places to use.

  • Applications and the computer cannot find HP Deskjet 4180 printer

Recently upgraded to Windows 8 XP (32 bit).  Downloaded the driver from the HP website for the HP Deskjet 4180 printer and installed it.  Open a document and select print as well as the application cannot find the printer.  The computer does not recognize a printer connected (via USB cable - no network connection).

Then I downloaded the installation wizard and he can identify the HP devices connected via USB and has chosen the correct software to download and install.  He identified the aircraft and said the basic software that it is installed and recommended that I have the full software.  I did this, which involves downloading a file of 291MB and it works. Eventually return to the same point in the installation wizard and most recognized once the device but the claims only the basic software is installed - followed the instructions on-screen, downloaded 291MB file and the wizard could have do me it again for a 3rd time!  Printer is still not not regonised when I try to print.

    The pilot actually works?

Is there anything else I can try?

Your help will be very appreciated.

Sorry, you have problems getting the printer to set up and print.  Here is a video on uninstalling software of the printer in Windows 8 (which is step 1).  After uninstall, restart the computer, then try to install the full feature software and drivers Deskjet 4180 (link is for Windows 8 32 bit) using this download.

To the best of my knowledge, this driver should work (I have not heard otherwise).  Try this for me first and if it doesn't work, tell me what is happening. I hope this works!

  • Computer do not normally sleep wake up and the computer hang when external USB devices are connected

    Hello

I have a Windows 7 Home Premium 64-bit desktop CyberPowerPC, and there are currently two problems with it:

1.), I have two USB ports in the front of my case. I am connected to my computer. Then I tried to connect my external hard drive using the USB cable supplied with it, but just at the moment where the end of the USB cable touched the port, the screen is black and automatically rebooted and froze when the display shows the brand CPU that is before the login screen. I actually press the restart on my case button to restart the computer with the hard drive already plugged. Then everything should work normally.

It's the same thing when I tried to connect my iTouch 2nd generation.

This problem occurs sometimes, however, but I wonder if someone always has a solution to this?

2.) whenever I put the computer to sleep and he remains asleep for a while and I turn it on it once again, powers for about 2 seconds then it turns off. I have to turn the power supply and light in the order so he could get out of mode 'sleep'.

I was wondering if you have solutions to this problem, as well.

    Thank you.

Original title: new Windows 7 problem

    Ok.. I'll try again...

The problem is caused by a bad 'ground' between the USB ports of the case and the motherboard. Static electricity is originally the USB device to short on the USB port which is originally the motherboard restart mode.

I had the same problem and got my computer case exchanged. The problem has not entirely disappeared, and I use the USB port on the front on the card reader, just in case.

It can also be a problem with the power supply or even the motherboard. It is very difficult to locate the failure without replacing in turn, a process that happens to be a bit expensive.

The above is the reason why I recommend that you contact the MANUFACTURER. Don't take no for an answer off the manufacturer or supplier. It is a problem annoying which can eventually damage your operating system if it is enough...
