  I finally got working again. I connected the USB cable from the printer to the computer. I went to my directory of installed programs and selected Dell and there is an application called 'maintenance', which allowed me to "repair/reinstall" the driver who was initially working OK (then stopped working). Then in the Dell same folder was an application called "Wireless Setup program.

  I followed the directions, with cable is still connected and manually entered my "wifi password', in the dialog box. I got the message "installation failed, try again? I chose 'Yes', this time I got the message "success of wireless configuration".

  Then I unplugged the USB cable from the printer, and now it works wireless again. He did change the "name" of the printer from "DELL * ' followed by a group of numbers.   I intend to sell my HP Pavillion DV6120us laptop, so I wanted to wipe the drive and reinstall Windows XP Media Center Edition 2005. I did it successfully, but when I went to install the wireless network drivers, nothing would work. I tried this utility that I had heard about called Driver Pack Solutions, but I got errors, try to connect to a network. So, I did a system restore. Then, I tried to download the drivers on HP's Support site. I discovered that there are two different drivers, one that is Intel Pro/WIreless and one which is Broadcom. I wasn't sure, but the descriptions made it seem like they needed them for work. I was not sure what order to install, so I tried the two, making a return system restore to before the driver facilities. I also tried each one on its own. No matter what, I still have errors, if he even showed the Wireless icon in the tray at all. I also noticed that there are two versions of the HP Wireless Assistant, 2.0, and 3.0, I think. What drivers do I need? Do I need or I have the HP Wireless Assistant? What version? In what order should I install everything? I'm doing something else wrong?

  Hi all!

  I think I found the solution after a little tinkering. I used the Driver Pack Solutions to install the wired ethernet driver, then connected to the internet and installed updates to Windows. I selected Custom and some updated hardware installed, and one of them was the wireless driver. After installing it, I installed the HP Wireless Assistant (V3.00 Rev D) and everything worked well and has since then! I had no error connecting to my network, and it is still connected after disconnection of the Ethernet.

  Thank you for your help and advice. Knowing that MacAfee firewall settings could cause the symptoms that I saw was the key to the resolution.

  (1) launch McAfee Security Center (version 11.6)

  (2) under the featurestab, select Web and Email Protection

  (3) in the options that appear, click firewall.
