  • Pavilion 15-ab032tx: upgrade to 10 windows and need to reinstall, but I only have win 8.1 recovery disk.

Last year I bought a computer hp laptop ab032tx, at the time ' it came with windows 8.1 out of the box. Following the instructions, I made the recovery disc. It was windows 10 launched before. Once windows 10 was released, I immediately upgraded to windows 10. Everything works well so far, but recently, I noticed starting times are long, and things take a lot of time to load. That's why I want to change the 1 TB for one ssd harddrive (a samsung 850 pro, to be exact). But the thing is I want to keep the windows 10.  But the 8.1 windows installation disc.  And since I've already updated I don't know if my current product key will work with windows 8.1. If I download windows 10 microsoft Web site and put it in a USB key, it'll work? Do I have to disable my current product first key (if it is still possible, in other words)? Help, please

    Hello

You should be fine and there is no need to disable the current installation.

When you switch from an operating system prior to Windows 10, activation records server a hardware profile on your machine - small changes (like changing a ssd) are almost always very well, while more significant changes (ie the map system to swapping) generally do not.

I personally traded readers several times, then clean installed Windows 10 and he has never had any problems with activation.

As long as your current installation of Windows 10 activated Ok after upgrading 8.1, you can just perform a new installation as described in the guide on the following link.  Note: On the activation screen, select "I have not a product key" - Windows will activate automatically once installation is complete.

  • Possible to install Win 8 of recovery in Legacy Bios mode discs?

Is it possible to install Win 8 of recovery disks in Legacy Bios instead of UEFI mode, as it comes with?

Or will install it automatically use UEFI mode and configure start secure even if your bios is set to Legacy Bios installation mode for Windows 8?

    In addition,

If I install a clean copy of windows 8 from the official Microsoft Windows 8 Core RTM dvd (same version as my system) and it detects and accepts the built in Win 8 product key and key of CD which is built in my Bios and it activates as valid installation and activeted - this void my warranty?

(It's the same exact Windows version and license I paid HP for except it has not added recovery partition or software of HP so I don't think he would cancel warranty... especially since installation has accepted the built in bios keys - but is this correct?)

Don't know everything if the recovery will install in legacy mode, try and see.

Install a different copy of the same version do not cancel the warranty. However sometimes HP will require you to reinstall OS original to avoid the possibility of problems or if you need warranty service. Don't forget to burn your defined recovery disk before destroying the origianl OS.

You can also find it advantageous to burn them to dvd or save to hard drive USB external your C:\SwSetup file with drivers and software provided on the original laptop. Save a lot of time to download on another computer and transfer it later.

    Hello:

See if, by your own plain W8.1 installation media, you can reinstall Windows 8.1.

    https://www.Microsoft.com/en-us/software-download/Windows8

The only downside is the OEM product key in the BIOS.

However, there are workarounds like the one shown below to find out how to get the product key in the BIOS to work on your new installation...

I know that DO START/RECOVERY disk can be made only once. But not preventing the system from IMAGE files, or would it be the RESTORATION of the file SYSTEM.

    How is my setup.

The original 1 TB HARD drive came with the PC will be the OS (INSTALLED at the factory) and RECOVERY. And this will be the storage. I'll install a 120 GB SSD to be used as C drive. I'll install the OS from the BOOT/RECOVERY disk on drive C for two reasons. To ensure that it is a CLEAN INSTALLATION and ensure that it is NOT of QUESTIONS if they work or not. Then they will be stored in a place course.

Then I would be able to do a SYSTEM RESTORE/RECOVERY file. And no longer on the internal memory or external storage.

Anyone with knowledge of this and a better solution I don't know.

Disc SSD 120 GB OS 'C '. 1 TB of disk storage HARD drive "D", (OS and RECOVERY will always be INSTALLED)

The question "what is prevented from make the SYSTEM IMAGE files" - image files may consist of training, but with different software.  Several solutions for this by choosing software that makes the image IE files: Norton Ghost, Acronis, Paragon, etc..

System Restore is a feature of Windows and does not make use of the same action, but it is useful in the return of the system to an earlier date.

  • Win 8 used to start the system recovery disk

    No fatcory can reset

    Hello

You may need to disable Secure Boot and hardware enable in the Menu of the Bios first.

In addition, if your HARD drive has a GUID partition table, and you want the operating system to boot from the uefi firmware, don't forget to choose the entry for the optical drive that has (uefi) in the boot manager - see "Adding value to recovery disks" in the document of HP on the following link.

  • Satellite M30-107 does not start successfully after using recovery disk

    Hello

I recently got my hands on a toshiba Satellite M30-107 laptop second hand and decided to freshen it.
I used the toshiba recovery disk, but after that the laptop is no longer support windows.

When turned on it shows booting Toshiba disc for about a second then goes to a screen blank and freezes.
When turned on, once again, a screen will appear an error by stopping and offer the opportunity to start in SafeMode etc but choose one of the options causes the machine to freeze.

Any help or advice would be much appreciated.

    Thank you
    JT

    Hello

Sounds a little like the laptop does not start because of the problem of Windows software
You did not recover the M30 with the original Toshiba that was provided with this device M30 recovery CD?

I may be wrong, but to me it looks like a recovery CD incorrect has been used and an image with drivers not compatible m has been installed

You can try to install the OS of Microsoft Win XP original CD and could check if it would be possible to get the notebook ruin using own BONE.

In this case we (you and me ;)) might know if this problem could be related to hardware or software.

  • C855-1VT satellite - cannot start media recovery disk

    Hello

I have the laptop above that was dumped on its edge causing the hard drive to the jam and fail.
This means no access to the system recovery, so I ordered arvato shop Toshibas Recovery Media recovery media.

I installed a new HARD drive has slipped into the recovery disc and boom, no bootable media insert system disk.

I tried the disc on other laptops, same thing, with no bootable media, but back to arvato who kindly sent me disks replacement... you guessed it... exactly the same thing so I put in my windows 7 install cd and it read the disc properly.

Arvato said they asked toshiba to check the image which they did and found no errors, but the stock of arvato could be faulty, I thought. in any case, they offered a refund which doesn't really help.

I may be missing something so this post hoping tosh guru of you might be able to help :)

    Thanks in advance,

    Night...

    Hello

Maybe the image is OK, but the CD/DVD drive cannot read the disc of Arvato.
What you could do is to copy this recovery disk to another disk using another computer.
Then you could try to start the device using the new disc copied.
    May be worth a try.

In addition, you can try after workaround:
Go to BIOS and check secure boot settings and the boot mode.
What are the settings appear in the BIOS?

I m application because you said you could boot from Win 7 disk, in this case secure boot must be disabled and the boot mode must be set between UEFI and MSC mode.

In case you want to install Win 8 secure boot must be enabled a UEFI should be used

  • Satellite Pro A10 recovery disks fail to reinstall Win XP

My A10 Pro Sat operated happily running a system dual boot (XP and Mandriva) before a failure to start a day.
I've successfully used the Toshiba recovery disks and everything was OK for a year or two before the same problem reappeared.

Now the recovery disk Nr.1does not restores the system and the laptop turns off after appearing to run normally for about 20 seconds.

Restore the MBR and fitness by using a recovery disk Win 98 could not solve the problem.

    Anyone has any ideas please?

    > Now the Nr.1does recovery disk does not restore the system and the laptop turns off after appearing to run normally for about 20 seconds.

Sorry, but this sentence confuses me. What you mean under function normally? Start your laptop computer, enter BIOS settings and leave it with that. Laptop does turns off after a short time or what?

Maybe you should explain a little better what happens when you start your laptop.

  • Win 7 restore without disk recovery on Satellite L350-277

    Hi all

I'm trying to fix Satellite L350-277 of my sister-in-law following a HARD drive failing. Before the crash, he was running Win7 Home Premium (32 bit) that was preinstalled on the HARD drive. I managed to run Belarc on it before it went completely, but could not create the restore disc in time.

Disk failure HARD seems to be due to bad sectors and once failed, could not get past startup repair. While they were inspecting HARD drive (in the USB enclosure), both C: and D: (backup partition) appeared to be intact, so guessed was discussed with MBR. I have used Clonezilla to clone new HARD drive and I'm now work - failure of HARD drive it's always like it was incase I need to clone again.

With the HARD drive clone, I first tried to use bootrec.exe but some successful how to 'break' C: and could not see anything in the score.

BTW I am currently using a copy of DVD retail Win 7 to provide the functions of "restore". However the Toshiba restore capabilities do not appear in the list of options. So I decided then to install everything on C: retail copy to see if I could access toshiba restore functions using data in D:, that doesn't seem to work either.

Then I stumbled on this thread that gave me the hope to be able to start the Toshiba recory tool:
    http://forums.computers.Toshiba-Europe.com/forums/thread.jspa?threadID=44382

I was hoping that Vista and Win7 preinstalls would be very similar, but the HARD drive has a recovery partition (D:\ HDDRecovery) and seems to fall in step 13. There are two files boot.wim in this partition: 'D:\hddrecovery\oddfiles\sources\boot.wim' and 'D:\hddrecovery\oddfiles\hddprep\sources\boot.wim '. Imaging either of these files does not cause the file according to the instructions of step 13. Here again, the guide is based around the Vista installation...

So what I try to do is to retrieve the data from the old HARD drive with the damaged boot record in order to restore the Win 7 OS pre-installed Toshiba. I seem to have the data (old HDD still retains files) do not seem to have enough knowledge now do!

    Can someone help me?

On the one hand I can understand your wish to install the recovery image, but on the other hand, for me personally, this is nothing but waste your time for nothing. In General, recovery image is designed may not be copied or manipulated so this guy was very lucky.

Problem is that this recovery disk is not created after the purchase of the laptop.

Maybe it sounds stupid to you, but I recommend you restore disk original order for this machine.
You can order it on https://backupmedia.toshiba.eu/landing.aspx
It costs 30 Euro only. With this money, you will get original recovery disk that includes the operating system active, all necessary drivers, tools, utilities and a few additional and useful applications.

Using this disk, you will be able to have perfectly working machine in just 2 hours.

One more thing: the use of the disc is unlimited and you can use it 1000 times and each time you have enabled and configured perfectly BONE.

  • Create the set of WIN Vista recovery disks

I have version OEM of WIN Vista Home Premium installed on my Dell Studio 540 desktop computer.  No recovery disk which came with my computer's operating system.

How to create a set of WIN Vista Home Premium recovery disc?  As can an alternate option, I save my OS on my 500 GB external hard drive that I currently use to backup photos, music, emails and other files?

Thank you very much for the help.

Contact Dell or look in the manual or on the Dell support Web site to learn how to create a recovery media. Another good option is the image of your system with a program like Acronis True Image and save the image on the external hard drive. This way you can go back to a system that works with all your programs, improvements, etc. very quickly instead of having to start over with a clean install. True Image is also incremental backup image so that your image is always cool. There are other imaging programs too - TI is exactly the one I use. MS - MVP - Elephant Boy computers - don't panic!
