  Hi, I'm looking to upgrade the graphic edge on my old HP Compaq d330 pc desktop. I know that racing machine on a processor 2.66 mhz and will support an AGP x 8 card and I'm upgrading system Ram of 512 MB (4x128mb cards) to 2048 MB (4 x 512 MB, maps).
  Currently the video ram is 64 MB (on board) and I thought I'd do a card of 128 MB AGP on EBay, but don't know what that you get it.
  Everything seems to be so slow graffics wise and ancient beauty is holding still to display certain pages of the sites, I am currently unemployed and so I use the little girl on the net a lot trying to find work, good shopping market e-mail deals, processing etc.
  I thought that upgrading the memory and graphics would contribute to the display and speed in order to improve and allow me to multi task email resume and processing more easily in addition to prolong his life and make surfing easier and a lot less loading time.

  As you can imagine that I am running on a budget very tight and unable to afford a newer pc.

  On my d530 which is basically the same model, I used the nVidia geForce 6200 128 MB AGP card both the ATI Radeon 9600 128 MB AGP card.

  They worked very well.  If you can't find one of these cards with more memory so much better.  But most of them came with 128 MB (which was a decent amount of memory back in the day).

  There is a setting in BIOS in the d530 (and perhaps the d330 as well) which allows you to spread the amount of system memory to add it on the video card to help with graphics performance - up to 256 MB.

  So, you could have 128 MB memory graphics dedicated card, over up to 256 MB of system memory.

  These two cards will allow also the PC run full Windows 7 32-bit as well.

  You can try to remove and replace the memory and see if it works.

  If this does not work, delete all except one module of memory (if the PC has more than one) and see if the PC works normally with the chip memory. If it beeps, remove and replace it with the memory you removed and keep doing that until you find the defective memory chip.

  WIndows loads fine and works fine.

  Someone put the Bios password and did not say what it was.

  Unfortunately, business machines have a stricter security consumption patterns - they do not produce "stop codes", the password cannot be derived from the serial number and the code is stored in a nonvolatile memory to remove the RTC cell does not reset the password in this case.

  If you Contact HP Business support they should be able to send you a file custom SMC.bin that you can use to reset the password at startup.

  One of our HP Compaq 6910 has a power on password set, I'm guessing a student thought it would be fun to implement. I can't anything at all on the laptop without the password, is there a way to reset? These laptops are older and certainly not under warranty.

  It was created by a student, I found the battery cmos finally after disassemble the laptop, was able to short the pins and reset the bios password.

  I received a laptop computer with Vista Home Basic System. Her grandchildren don't remember the last password that they used so I'm locked out. I am not literate PC otherwise for switch on and check the emails and Google search. Is there some way I can get into the system to use and possibly modify the password?  I read on the blogs earlier than for the lack of numbers or halt appear after 3 failed attempts to enter the password, but this is not the case when I try this (do not know if these sections apply to the Compaq Presario models or not).

  It is a Compaq nx7400.  Son of the customer put a boot up password on this laptop and will not tell her mother what it is.  How can I erase this.  I tried what is obvious to remove the battery and cmos batter, food, allowing it to sit overnight.  Would really like to help this customer out, she uses this fact to his college work, powerful laptop fine (former company recycles), but the children of some people!

  I can't access bios since the password appears immediately to market.  It gives 3 attempts, then comes up with a * symbol.

  Unfortunately, there is nothing you can do.

  Probably also active young the rigorous security in the BIOS setting, which prevents any attempt to clear the BIOS password.

  This is why remove the CMOS and the main battery for 30 minutes, restart the laptop with the power adapter plugged, has not worked.
