hp compaq dc7800 (DDR2 or DDR3) graphics card

Hello

I have a minitour computer hp compaq dc7800 convertible. I want to develop it with a graphics card. I see my computer has a PCI Express x 16 slot. Does anyone know if the card must have the DDR2 memory? Or the graphics card could be DDR3?

Thank you

Marc

Hi Marc,

The type of Ram on the graphics card is not dictated by your PC, so you can quite happily fit a card with DDR2, DDR3 or DDR5.  The important factors to consider are the power requirements of the graphics card (that is, if you choose a card that requires a 400W provide you would need a unit of power supply in your PC that can deliver this) and that the card physically fits inside the tower.

Best wishes

  • HP Compaq dc 7800p CMT: install graphics card GeForce G100 on HP computer

    Gentlemen!

I have an unusual question on installing a GeForce G100 graphics card on my HP Compaq dc7800p CMT. I know it's technically a work computer, but I think that the question applies to any HP computer.

I got the video card for almost anything and it seems from my investigation that it will work on this computer. The problem is that there apparently is not a standard Nvidia GeForce configuration, but were made for Acer desktop computers. The card has VGA, DVI and HDMI ports. There are standard Nvidia configurations that include the VGA and DVI ports, but not the HDMI - at least that I've seen.

For the most part, my question is which driver I should try to use it with her. If I download driver Nvidia directly, generic for this card, what happens with the HDMI port? It must, of course, a special driver that Acer with this card allows users who must support the HDMI port, but what will happen if I installed Acer driver for this card on a HP computer? I could live without the HDMI port, but I would be rather functional.

It is very difficult to get a useful answer forums GeForce on legacy hardware, so much worse if it's an outside-the-box situation like this. Maybe nobody can offer anything other than a guess, but I'll take what I can get. I tell myself that an assumption of a tech-saavy person more than me is better than my own guess!

Complete information on the map in question follow: GeForce G100 512 MB DDR2 HDMI/D-V FN: 288-50N44-A01AC

    Thank you for interest!

    Grant

    Hi, grant:

Normally, the Nvidia driver install everything, including audio/video HDMI.

On the dc7800, install this card will disable the integrated audio system as well as the video integrated, so after installing the card and the drivers, reboot the PC, go into the BIOS, select the Advanced menu and then select the menu options of the device.

There will be an embedded audio setting and it will be on people with disabilities.  Set to enabled, save it and then again when you exit the BIOS.

Reboot, then you should have the on-board audio back.

Before installing your video card, go to Device Manager, click to expand the category of display cards, right-click on the Intel graphics card, select uninstall, check the box uninstall driver too when it exists.  I forgot if it is or is not under Vista.  Windows 7 has this additional option.

Instead of restart as you are prompted, stop and unplug the PC and install your video card.

  • Compaq Pressario: what is my graphics card?

    Hello

Due to a power cut, I was obliged to re - install windows 10 on my old HP desktop computer, but the display is now crushed. When I look at the graphics card it just says 'card Microsoft Basic.

I read somewhere that the right adapter would be identified after 10 windows were updated, but windows 10 is now fully updated and the correct graphics card has not been detected.

The only resolution I can get is 1024 x 768. The resolution box is grayed out and the drop-down arrow doesn't work, so I can't change the resolution at all now.

Is there a way that I can find that my graphics card is really, while I can get the correct driver for it?

  • Upgrade graphics card (for Compaq Presario SR1921il [product number: RC566AA])

as my system is old enough for the new technology, I have doubts about the graphics card, it can support...

Make my system of support of these base maps,

    AMD/ATI HD 5450 512 MB DDR2 graphics card,

Sapphire AMD/ATI Radeon HD 5450 1 GB DDR3 Graphics Card and superior? because my is a type of memory RAM DDR2, DDR3 should I use only DDR2 graphics card, or otherwise can be?

I really want to know the maximum range of the graphics card, it can support...

    Thanks in advance...

Your desktop PC are for some time.  (over 6 years)

You should consider upgrading your PC to a more modern unit instead of investing the money in an old. A new video card will not help the old CPU or memory. It will be still slow compared to today's computers.

Sapphire AMD/ATI Radeon HD 5450 1 GB DDR3 Graphics Card will work fine, but be aware that you must also be upgraded to a 400 Watt or greater POWER supply.  If you do not upgrade the power supply then the video card will not work. Your PC was shipped with a power supply with a capacity of 300 Watts or less. Which doesn't leave you much of a choice if you want to follow your desired upgrade path.

  • H8 - 1240t update graphic card problems

Before you start this is what I have:

    H8 - 1240t Desktop

    Windows 7 Home Premium 64-bit

    Intel Core i7 - 2600 k

    16GBs ram

The computer came with an AMD Radeon HD 7570 1 GB DDR3 graphics card which I have been recently trying to improve my dream of an EVGA Geforce GTX 780 / 3 gb GDDR5 SC ACX. I already upgraded my PSU from a 300w to a 750w power to manage the new graphics card. During the installation of this new graphics card the computer will start show him Press esc for boot menu screen and after a while, it will go to a black screen with a cursor. I put in the disk of driver installation accompanying the GTX 780 from the start. Now, I looked online and saw a lot of people who update their bios but I couldn't find really any help for a motherboard very FRIEND 7.09 Pegatron 2ad5. And the actual task of updating a bios seems daunting. Attracted me here to see if it was something I had to do or if there is something else I could try or should I give up on my dream to get the GTX 780 to work in my config. Thanks in advance to one that meets. =)

    Hello

Most of the 7xx manufactured NVIDIA video cards are active UEFI and your PC does not have the right level of BIOS.  Your PC needs to have a BIOS version 8 level.  If the BIOS of your PCs supported the UEFI mode and secure boot you have a different problem.

Looking for a different graphics card that requires no UEFI BIOS. You may be able to locate a Sapphire AMD graphics card that will work and be near the same level of performance. Glance at the series Sapphire R9which are not marked UEFI.

The 780 NVIDIA or any graphics card close in performance will eventually be GPU bound.  This means that the graphics card will not reach its full potential of your PC with the design of the processor and motherboard.

  • Update graphics card that went wrong; Need help.

Let me first, I the a6700f desktop model.

Here's my problem... There is a month that I bought a graphics card for my computer, the NVIDIA GeForce 8400GS 512 MB DDR2 PCI Express graphics card, link below:

    http://www.BestBuy.com/site/olspage.jsp?skuId=8990407&type=product&ID=1218007083381

. It was great to work on my computer, and I liked the fact that I can play higher quality video and games on my computer, which could barely handle with the 6150 it comes with. It worked fine for about 2 days, when my friend told me that he had the 8600 model given to him by his cousin, but because it was a PCI Express model, it has failed on its motherboard. So he let me try, because it was the card I have established originally to get (but the Best Buy had not).

I pulled the 8400 which worked very well and replaced it with the 8600. When I turned on the computer later, the monitor never displays anything. I could hear the music start and everything, so I know that it was running; However, the monitor shows nothing. So I turned off has released the 8600 and then tried the 8400. Even if it was working fine before trying the 8600, the monitor wouldn't read something with her. I thought it would be the monitor that was just straight up, so I tried another. The same problem. I then looked online and saw some article talks about food that may be too low because the amount required for the 8600 was 300w, exactly what my computer. So, I went to Best Buy and bought a 450w power supply and tried with that. Still did not work. I thought it could be the graphics card, so I returned it and got the same exact model, just a new. Still did not work. I even reformatted my entire computer to the settings it had when I bought it, and nothing has worked. I tried to clean my computer, searching for scratches and haven't found anything.

The only way that the monitor has worked has been without any graphics in it (just the 6150) he built). I've been turned off to repair, because I know in general how to solve small problems like that, even if I can't know all the technical terms for computers (I'm more a guy who recognizes the parts and what they do).

If someone knows a solution that I have not yet tried, please let me know about it so I can give it a shot and no waste of money do repaired and it have to be a simple solution.

    ----

    Additional information:

I bought this computer some time in February this year, so it is still fairly new. However, I don't have the receipt so that it doesn't matter where, so I don't think I'm able to do anything with the warranty on it. I have also heard people that they do not cover damage of upgrades (don't know if it of true or not). Is there a way I can still make them fix it, or just get it replaced?

Message edited by Luckybucket on 01/06/2009 19:42

The pci-e slot is damaged and I suspect that this has been done when you were installing the 8600. It is not too difficult for the location on the motherboard with static damage physically or a force applied the wrong angle. HP will simply not provide a warranty if you have haveis a computer that cannot be used with the integrated graphics card or maybe (shudder) a simple pci card video.

  • replace the graphics card for HP omni 27

I bought the HP omni 27 AIO a few months before and wonder if I could replace my mxm3.0 with the more powerful discrete graphics, one because of the game card. For everything else, this PC is good enough.

Here are the specs of my HP omni 27 PC AIO: 27 "screen, CPU intel i5 3570 3.4 GHZ (Ivy Bridge), nvidia geforce GT 630 MXM3.0a 2 GB DDR3 graphics card discrete, 8 GB of DDR3 RAM,! TB 7200 HDD, lavaca pegatron motherboard.

What are discrete graphics cards you would sugest to me and where is possible to buy?  I recently found a descrete MXM type b graphics card to the e - bay store, but I'm not sure if it fits into my PC regarding the specifications of dimensions and the heat/watts. It's the card nvidia geforce gtx 670 m type mxm3.0 b that has max 75 wats in comparison to nvidia geforce gt 630 m who has 37wats max. This card would be compatible with my system, and if so, my system would be able to handle more heat from him? If this isn't the case, could you recommend me other compatible cards for my above (HP Omni 27) system. I appreciate your help.

According to the specifications, the system has an MXM Type A slot and the card must be less than 35W (I suspect that even a 35W would work as less that is not very common).  It also lists the GT630M as an option on actions for the system.  Other maps of Type A that meet the requirements of power should work as well.

The Type of HP GT630 a card is listed here.  It seems to no longer be available at HP.  It seems that it is available on Amazon.  It is a direct seller's Amazon page.  Based on part number, it can be found on eBay as well.  One thing I noticed in my search for this particular card, is that nobody seems to have an image.  I recommend you contact the vendor to verify that this is a card of Type MXM need 35W of power.

  • Screen dead HP 8710p - graphics card error?

    Hello

There is a problem on my 8710p, and it is quite serious. The screen is blank.

It (screen) is closed while I was watching a video, audio was still working. Screen remained black after the restart, but I had all the audio feedback (startup sounds, to fingerprint logon). Power lights are (from left) Green; Blue; off; Green, last one flashing in long intervalswith no particular trend. Access to shared folders is possible on other computers (8710 is connected via WiFi).

Also, I tried to connect a monitor via hdmi, but it did not show anything. My guess is that the problem is with the graphics card from nvidia, but that's just a guess.

Is there a way to confirm what kind of error it is? And is there a simple solution to this problem?

It's not exactly what I understood to be. A picture is worth a thousand words. Yes, it's bad video memory that is a bad video card. Your graphics card on this laptop is a replaceable mxm card. Play with the drivers is a waste of time.

I am looking to buy a graphics card for my HP Compaq dc7800 small form Factor PC, I would like to have cheap cards. What would you recommend.

    Hello:

You are rather limited with 240W power.

I would get an opportunity low profile ATI Radeon 2400 HD 256 MB PCIe card on eBay.

This Dell card I posted should work just fine.

    http://www.eBay.com/ITM/Dell-ATI-Radeon-HD-2400PRO-320-5891-/280798788349?PT=PCC_Video_TV_Cards & Hash = item4160e97afd

If you want that a new map of low profile with HDMI, you can check the link below for the Radeon HD 6450. But make sure that the card you get comes with support for low profile and read the comments on some of these cards where they say the basket of pins VGA closing case.

    http://www.Newegg.com/product/ProductList.aspx?submit=Ene & N = 100006662 & IsNodeId = 1 & Description = % 206450 HD & Bop = and & Order = Rating & PageSize = 20

If you get a card with HDMI output, it will disable your onboard video, then reboot the PC after loading the drivers for the card, go into the BIOS and in device configuration menu, change the integrated audio system setting from disabled to enabled. Save the setting here and even once, when you go out. Then get you your integrated audio system and have also audio HDMI if you need.

My question is, this graphics card is supported by HP DC7800 SSF Core 2 Duo - 2, 33 GHz. If incompatible, what would be the best option?

Your time and your tips are good apprecited. Thank you

    Hello:

You can actually install the HD 6450 low profile card.

It is the optional video card in the 8200 Elite SFF that has also a P/S 240W.

You can see this post where someone did exactly cela and the card works properly - page 3 of the related thread.

    http://h30434.www3.HP.com/T5/desktop-hardware/graphics-card-for-HP-Compaq-dc7800/TD-p/1228843/highlight/true/page/3

If you buy a card with HDMI output, make sure that you go back into the BIOS > Advanced Menu > device configuration settings and change the integrated audio system setting from disabled to enabled. You save the setting here and once again, when you go out.

Also, make sure that you uninstall the graphics card in the Device Manager before you install a new card.  Do not restart afterwards. Shut down the PC instead, unplug the unit, press the power button to drain any residual power and install the new card.

I also believe that a GeForce 210 works OK in your PC too.

P/S advertised requirements are 300W if that makes feel you safer.

    Thanks for the help.

    Hello:

I would recommend the Radeon HD 6450 low profile card with low profile mounting support for this model, which, incidentally, is a 6005 pro, not a Pro 6500.

HP is currently only 6300 Pro Series competition.

Personally, I like the fanless models but in a SFF case, according to me, that you really do need a fan to push the heat out of there more quickly that a passive heat sink can, but it's up to you.
