HP Pavilion p6-2143w: motherboard will not switch to the graphics card: Sapphire Nitro R7 370 4 D5

Plug
The APU A6 - 365 graphics AMD Radeon HD 2.60 GHz
8 GB ram corsair
B800M Max Bron Lepa PSU
Windows 7 64-bit Ultimate

My problem is that the jury is not automatically pass to the Sapphire Nitro R7 4 370 D5 card. All I get is a black screen. I tried to disable graph embedded in the Device Manager with no luck.

I also tried looking for a bios update, but I couldn't find one that was on the hp Web site.

Please help I don't want to buy a new motherboard and cpu.

Hello

Most graphics cards require BIOS version 8 HP.  BIOS version 8 is listed under Windows 8 for your particular model PC.  While the BIOS version 8 will probably support your new graphics card, you might find yourself stuck that Windows 7 will not work using the UEFI. You can install BIOS and then turn on legacy mode and see if the card works. However, if the card is a single card UEFI well then you are in a situation of 'catch' 22 In this case, you would have the BIOS later and W7 should always work in legacy mode.  Even with this BIOS update running in mode inherited that there could be some risk that W7 will not work.  Once you update the BIOS there is no coming back.

Another thought.

There are no Windows Ultimate 10 version if upgrading to W10 (free upgrade) would you put on the professional version W10. I do not know if that would suit your needs. However, if you have a place in the upgrade by using the W10 iso DVD or flash drive then you could extract the W10 license key so that your could do a clean install with legacy mode turned off in the BIOS that puts your PC into UEFI mode.

You have a few risks to consider.  In addition, HP has not posted the W10 for your PC drivers.

What would I do?  I'd go for it, but then my wallet could be deeper than yours.

Operating system: Windows 7 Home Premium (64-bit)

Graphics factory-installed: Radeon HD 6490 m + Intel(r) HD Graphics Family (but I spend the Intel 3000 drivers)

My graphics were problems since I got my laptop and I didn't realize what a few months after when I did a check on why my graphics running on low FPS. I called customer service and they could not solved the problem, so I started to do the research and updating my drivers for each of them and switching them too. I have finally fixed them and instead to run Minecraft on 22 FPS, I was there at more than 60 FPS.

Now, this graphics card is good and all, but there are not adapted to the new games (and I've had this laptop 1 year). What don't get me, is why HP installs some old graphics chips in a new laptop. in any case, I want to see what I can put in the new card. I really want to install and Nvidia 650 m, but I don't know because I don't have any information on my motherboard and it is manufactured by HP. Why I want to improve it is because that 1.) This chip sucks and can't play the games of 2005 and more than 2). He cannot run newer games like I'm a player PC of BF3. I get a strong brand of 28 FPS on BF3-ultimate low quality on this game, he reached sometimes 30 but not much. Read this document. This has been implemented by one of the community experts (erico).

The answer is usually going to be no upgrade that has been done on the graphics card as this is usually soldered to the motherboard and designed to work with specific chipsets. The fact that this example uses the switchable graphics actually still less likely. I'm sorry.

PC hardware is changing at a rapid pace, so you get a day probably will be obsolete in a few months if not sooner. I personally ordered a laptop and there was already a new model of the series which has a better processor and graphics card to this topic. Alas, I was outside the return period and could not take advantage of the new model.

This largely depends on the software used, but cell phones are not usually able to achieve the same performance as a desktop game PC. My laptop performs as well as my office during playback of half-life 2, but there is a big difference when I play Crysis. The experience will depend on how the program is written and how the game engine is optimized. It varies from game to game.

Here are the steps to make a clean reinstall for reference.

Some Firefox problems can be solved by performing a clean reinstall. This means that you remove Firefox program files, and then reinstall Firefox. Please follow these steps:

Note: You can print these steps or consult them in another browser.

    1. Download the latest version of Firefox from http://www.mozilla.org office and save the installer to your computer.
    2. Once the download is complete, close all Firefox Windows (click on quit in the file menu or Firefox).
    3. Remove the Firefox installation folder, which is located in one of these locations, by default:
      • Windows:

        • C:\Program Files\Mozilla Firefox
        • C:\Program Files (x 86) \Mozilla Firefox
      • Mac: Delete Firefox in the Applications folder.
      • Linux: If you have installed Firefox with the distribution-based package manager, you must use the same way to uninstall: see Install Firefox on Linux. If you have downloaded and installed the binary package from the Firefox download page, simply remove the folder firefox in your home directory.
    4. Now, go ahead and reinstall Firefox:
      1. Double-click on the downloaded Setup file and go through the steps in the installation wizard.
      2. Once the wizard is completed, click to open Firefox directly after clicking the Finish button.
  • Pavilion p6 - 2120t: Windows will not start with the new graphics card

Installed a Zotac GT 740 profile down in my desktop PC graphics card HP Pavilion p6 - 2120t and now the PC does not start.

Motherboard: IPISB-CU (Carmel2) (1 open PCI Express 16 expansion slot pins)

    BIOS to Version 7.18

    Running:
    Windows 7 Home premium 64-bit w/service pack 1
Two monitors (VGA, 1 digital port 1)

Before installing the new graphics card, I replaced the power supply original 300w with a 400w power supply.

For starters, I disabled the onboard graphics in Device Manager. Then, I opened the case and installed the GT-740 in the open PCI Express slot. I made sure that the card was fully engaged in the slot.

I plugged both monitors to their connections voted on the new map.

When I tried to boot the PC, the digital monitor displays the screen HP (the one that indicates which key support to achieve the start menu) and then frozen. No other entries of key or mouse have been accepted.

The PC then sounds 4 short beeps (about 10 seconds between each beep) and then a long beep before turning off the signal to the screen.

Then, I removed the new graphics card on the PC that starts then. I have reactivated the original graphics drivers and the PC then worked normally.

Tried the above process two more times with the same results.

I then went into the start menu to look at the BIOS. The menu of the BIOS shows two options:

    > Sources of boot UEFI

    Windows Boot Manager

    > Sources of boot legacy

    ATAP I CD/DVD player

    SATA2

    Hard drive

    SATA0

Network controller (Realtek PXE B06 D00)

PC using UEFI Boot Manager Windows boots normally

I have not tried Legacy Boot Sources because I don't know which one to choose.

I went to the HP site and looked for an update to the newest BIOS, but updating them is a rev version 7.16 while my PC shows my BIOS to version 7.18

I know that others have had a similar problem but I have not seen a solution that works for my PC.

    Any advice would be welcome.
    Thanks for your time.

    Hello

Your PC isn't spec'd to run Windows 7 using the Windows Boot Manager.  I expect to a UEFI-based graphics card likely to work on an HP PC that does not have a BIOS version 8.

The below listed OEM HP, graphics cards should work in your PC using a normal non - UEFI W7 and W8 installation.

    Hello.

I have a HP Pavilion Dv6-2110AX Windows 7 Home Premium and one a few days ago I had a problem with the internet/network connection.

It was working normally and then, suddenly, just collapsed. I tried everything I know: System Restore, update the wireless driver (Atheros AR9258 wireless adapter - ftp://ftp.hp.com/pub/softpaq/sp48001-48500/sp48488.exe), reset the driver (I don't know if I did it right), but nothings helped to y for remedy.

The only message I get I can't try something there: "Windows has not automatically determine the network proxy settings." I tried to do it manually, but it won't let me change any configuration in there, I don't know why.

In the Device Manager, it indicates that the wi - fi adapter is not working properly and I can't access internet and network with my smartphone and 2 other computers at home, so I guess that the problem is not the router and I don't know what else to do.

The only thing I have not tried to change IP address, because I don't have the Setup for this network and I don't know if this will help also.

I appreciate all help. Thank you!!

    MR. B

Well well, after 1 month trying to get assistance from HP and after 2 weeks in this forum (thanks to everyone who saw the subject and tried to help ) I just gave up and did what I have done since I had the problem.

My solution was to use the recovery discs to "Reinstall" everything and now the laptop is like when I bought it, but works.

If you decide to do, REMEMBER to backup all your files before otherwise you goanna lose everything, because the recovery system returns your computer to the factory settings.

The best thing is, it took less than an hour to do. If I'd known...

Good luck people, c is the next time (hopefully not soon)... hehhehe!

  • Laptop will not switch to the AMD Radeon graphics card

Hello.  I just bought a Dell Latitude 3540 on 10/01/13 (yesterday) and everything but the graphics go a lot.  Whenever I check the graphics that are used, it says "Intel HD Graphics 4400" instead of 'AMD Radeon HD 8850 M' as it should be.  I installed the Catalyst driver and software and plugged in, but also put everything for maximum performance in the config of switch graphics.  I EVEN USED PC RESET.  NOTHING WORKS.  Help, please.

    Hello

What is the version of the Catalyst driver and software you use?

The option to switch between graphics depends on the version of the installed Catalyst driver. I suggest you follow the article given below for further assistance.

When I start the PS, he gave me messages while ensuring that I have updated graphics card drivers, what I'm doing. If I enable Open Gl drawing in Photoshop it does not open some documents or fails. If I disable the Open GL drawing, it opens the documents, but obviously is not giving me the display performance that I need. I've been running this setup for about 6 months, but only started having problems this week. I am running Photoshop CS4 and a nvidia GTX 295.

Do not appear to have catastrophic graphics card problems (touch wood), I can always run Crysis!

    Can someone help me please?

Are - what you happened to download the faulty Nvidia driver package which was listed so removed from the site? This package is defective and caused the Nvidia GPU down and turn into bricks. You wrote that you have just started to have problems, then maybe that's your problem. I would use an old driver until Nvidia it sorts.

  • Windows 8 not to recognize the graphics card NVIDIA

    Separated from this thread.

Hi, why you mention windows activation? He didn't speak in his original position.

I ask because I recently had to replace my hard drive in Thailand, they put an and somehow has a copy of Windows 8 but I have exactly the same problem as the OP with my graphic works not properly. I can't dim the screen, HDMI cable does not work and when I tried to play Minecraft it told me that my drivers are mistaken.

Thanks for coming back. Yes, it could be hardware problem in this scenario. You can also visit the manufacturer's Web site and install the update manually. Sometimes even scan does not show the updated drivers. Download the driver on office and try to install the driver in compatibility mode and check if it makes a difference: http://windows.microsoft.com/en-US/windows-8/older-programs-compatible-version-windows

    Hello

This message can be direct to video card or video driver issue. In general, while playing games computer fails over to a different resolution then what is on your desktop. However, you can try to reduce hardware acceleration, and check if that helps. If this is not the case, try to update or reinstall your video drivers, in case of failure reinstall the game.

To reduce hardware acceleration, follow these steps:
    1. click on start in the lower left corner of Windows Vista/Windows 7.
    2. click on Control Panel, click appearance and personalization, click personalization, click display settings and then click Advanced settings.
    3. click on the Troubleshooting tab, and then click on change settings.
Note: The settings will be disabled if the graphics card driver does not support disabling hardware acceleration.
    4. move the hardware acceleration slider until it is one notch to the right of None. It is the basis of acceleration.
    5. click OK twice, and then close the window.
6 restart the computer if she invites you to.

Finally, try to alternate with the refresh rate of the screen, to:
    1. right click on the windows desktop and then click Customize.
    2. click on view > click on change display settings > settings click Advanced.
    3. click the monitor tab and change the screen refresh rate > click Ok.

Let us know if that helps.

  • HP Pavilion a6442p. Update the graphics card with HDMI?

My second computer is a HP Pavilion a6442p.  I would like to upgrade the graphics card with HDMI because I want to connect it to my TV to use the TV as a monitor.  I realize that the power supply is only 250.  I tried AMD Radeon 4350, but the computer would not set the card to display correctly.  Are there other maps any with HDMI that might work?  I thank in advance, Debbie

    Hi Deb5212,

Food that I suggested above will replace the existing power supply. It has enough power to handle the NVIDIA 550TI if you wish to get a more powerful video card (but more expensive).

In general, I recommend the Corsair CX500 because she has enough power to handle most video cards except the very high-end. However, it is more expensive.

    ' HP ' how-to ' articles should be useful.

Apple has set the rates, price around $300 repair program.  I don't think you can get a price of paste elsewhere.  However, there are third-party sites that provide repairs, parts and helpful videos.  Google is your friend.

  • Pavilion HPE-552SC: HPE-552SC and ASUS GTX750TI - will not get past the BIOS

    Hello.

My installed shipped with the HPE-552SC has failed and I bought a new ASUS GForce GTX 750TI. After installing, the computer will not exceed BIOS.

Looking at some of the messages in the support forums, solutions would be to turn off the UEFI - how ever when I press "ESC" at the start of the BIOS, I can not run the application "Run Application UEFI" - see photo below.

    BIOS is updated to 7.15.

    What should do?

    Best regards

    Andrée

    Hello

The NVIDIA GTX 750TI requires a BIOS to version 8 HP with a few exceptions depending on the graphics card.  Your PC is four years, so don't expect HP to publish a version 8 BIOS.

The NVIDIA GTX 660 or 660 TI would be a good choice.  You may need to upgrade the power supply according to the map.

  • Pavilion dv6 - 6153cl laptop - will not install the video drivers.

Recently, a friends Pavillion dv6 - 6153cl laptop started bluescreens frequent (many x 50 on igdpmd64.sys).   (on Win7 64 bit, completely up to date)

I came across this site and downloaded the current drivers but try as I can, they will not install. The message implies that they are bad drivers, but I have confirmed that they are the 2 parters - driver package AMD, including ATI and Intel drivers for the video "switchable". Most of the AMD install - except the 2 pilots and the C++ package components. AMD checks prior approval from hardware to install and does not renounce it.

    The error is:

"this computer does not meet the minimum requirements for installing this software.
or it just keeps trying to install it until it skips this step and goes to the next component, which gives the error the failure at the end.

I searched this site and found a number of references to similar problems. I've updated the BIOS, all other drivers, removed the old drivers (it is now running on Win VGA drivers), updated part of HP software, run a repair on Windows update and Installer, tried the previous version available, uninstalled C++, cancelled prior unpacking, checked Mode drivers safe, ran HP Support Assistant and tried to manually launch the installation program in compatibility mode admin.

Windows Update also wanted to update the 2 drivers but who do not. Twice. He will probably try again.

I ran sfc and Auditor - alls well with the other drivers.

There is no obvious change that percipitated the question.

The WinUpdate KB2670838 that sometimes causes a similar error has not been installed.

The system works at normal temperatures. And it stopped crashing. But only 600 x screen resolution.

Any suggestions on how to get the drivers to install?

My friend decided to hold the laptop store as they needed more functional. Of course, they were able to update the video drivers well obviously had a problem with an obscure audio problem. (audio drivers have been included in the package of video driver HP that they perhaps do not use) All is now well and unfortunately I cannot report on what drivers, they used to solve the problem.
