HP Compaq DX2400 microtour - update of GFX card format.

Hi guys

I recently bought a preowned Microtour HP Compaq DX2400 Business and upon receipt of that I made a few additions to his card, I added an another 2 GB of RAM to bring to a total of 4 GB. I have also consulted with the pdf for this product manual and found a list of support for the GFX cards and I bought a pre owned to ATI Radeon HD 3650 (512 MB DH) PCIe x 16 which all together worked very well and I was extremely happy.

I write today to ask if there is another (preferably 1 GB) GFX cards that work with the system or am I limited to the list in the manual? If it's just a case of choosing a new PCIe x 16 card then I have one waiting to go, but I wanted to see HP and its community first.

I understand that this age and spec PC will struggle to play current games but I'm looking for abit more grunt for the games I play now.

Here is the link to the mentioned user manual.

http://WWW8.HP.com/h20195/v2/GetDocument.aspx?DocName=c04290832

Thanks in advance for any information.

Concerning

You are the very welcome.

If you want to try your luck on a map more robust (probably shouldn't be a problem on a PC with a 300W power supply, try a card of 1 GB Radeon HD 6570.

It is a 128-bit card that is better than a 64-bit card.  It will establish to 60W of power vs less than 30 for the HD 6450.

Hi, first I want to sorry my bad English because I'm Romanian.

My question is: I have a HP Compaq dx2400 microtour and I want to know if AMD R7 240 1 GB ddr5 Sapphire, it will be able to run on my pc.

    Thanks in advance!

    Stefan, welcome to the forum.

I was able to understand exactly what you need.  Your English is no problem.

Here is the Service reference Guide to the computer.  It will give you all the information you need.  On Page 104, it has information on the power supply unit (PSU).  It is 300 w which is not enough to feed the video card you want to buy.  Also, I think that the card requires UEFI in the motherboard instead of a standard BIOS.

Your best options would be to contact the manufacturer Technical Support to see what they have to say.  If this card will not work, they should be able to tell you which of their cards will work.  They will need some information in the document I have provided.

Please click on the button + Thumbs up if I helped you and click on accept as Solution If your problem is resolved.

    Hello;

Let me welcome you on the HP forums!

Sorry, but your options are to use one OR the other - not both.

There is no updated BIOS to change this.

Here is the link to the quickspecs for your model.

Supported processors are listed on page 5.

However, if you have installed the latest update of the BIOS, support has been added for Pentium 4 600 processors.

I just do a fresh install of windows xp. I do not have the original restore/driver disk, so I have my XP pro (sp3 w / all updates) running instead of xp home.

I have everything working except the network card, the device displays Manager shows the ethernet like network adapter driver is not installed. I can't for the life of find me the drivers for it. I downloaded and tried every update on the support page and drivers for this model, including the Nvidia nforce chipset drivers (that I expected to have, but he didn't).   I even have the same PC on the internetvia a USB wireless card and tried to find the drivers on windows update automatically (it did not).

The car of network worked with the windows of the factory install before get me the new installation of XP. However I don't have to predict the location of this driver to be a problem.

I searched many forums/sites Web/etc hours and found nothing that works, I can not even a precise idea of who made this particular NIC I'm not a novice at this, it's as simple as not installed... chipset driver but the driver seems to be missing in action.

Can someone help me to find drivers for this chipset (they are NOT on the page of the driver for this machine!)

    Thank you

    Hello

I just tried to driver guide and found the chipset software I was looking for (links and info below), this package contains drivers for audio, ethernet and Smbus controller memory; everything that you need.  I don't know why this isn't on the software/driver download page, but it is not. Hope this helps someone in the future, so you don't need to pull me hair link.

Well, it goes without saying really, but I've noticed that most my games get about 15 images/s and even though I have updated all drivers for my current integrated gfx card, there still not a lot of improvement, which brings me to my original question.

    Hello

Usually it of not possible to update the graphics card. You can't compare the laptop and desktop pc technology. The graphics card on the laptop is a small chip that attaches to the motherboard.

  • Satellite A100-207: is it possible to update the graphics card for games

    Hello

I am looking to buy the laptop Toshiba A100-207 and it comes with 128 MB shared graphics.

I would like to play games and I was wondering if I could update the graphics (for example, a nvidia card I could buy and put in) or the fixed graphics?

I just want to know if I am able to upgrade?

    Thank you

    Hello

In my opinion the graphics card or processor is not welded on the new generation of mobile phones. The parts must be simply plugged into the card.
But this does not change the status of the upgrade.
Eventually, you will be able to remove the graphics card but I m sure that you will have problems of compatibility with other hardware.

Fastest graphics card produces more heat and the temperature will automatically increase to a higher level. This would lead to overheating in the question and the laptop would be either closed or not starts.
PC desktop technology is simply different as on laptops. You can also compare different graphics cards. Laptop factory uses only graphics card chips what don t supports a clean cooling module.

It simply says s not possible to update the graphics card.

Is it possible to update the graphics card on the A100-033?

    Hi George

It of certainly not possible to update the graphics card. The technology of the laptop is a little different and you should not compare it with the current desktop PC.
The GPU is fixed and not removable.

  • Can I update my graphics card?

    Dear Sir/Madam,

Is it possible to update my graphics card? I have ENVY of HP dv6-7210ei Notebook PC with GeForce 630 m 2 GB graphics card. Can I move to 660 gtx for example?

    Thanks in advance

    Hello

As in my previous answer, no you can not even with the portable version. Let's put it this way: basically, you can, with a cost, and I think that this cost can be more expensive than buying a new computer because you have to take into account:

    • New price of the card, and WHERE you can buy it because the laptop cards are not the same office maps. You can't buy any normal store,
    • Need new card system (can be),
    • Need new system of cooling because in general more powerful card pumps out more heat (you want more powerful card don't you?).
    • May need new power supply because your current diet is not suitbale for the card. (I ordered a machine with the Nvidia card and I need to order a 90W charger at the same time, not the normal charger 65W. They rejected just my order.)
    • Cost of the work.
    • Packages a lot, a lot of aspirin.

    I hope this helps.
