HP Compaq nc6220 Notebook PC: power on password error

I have a HP Compaq nc6200 laptop in which I set up a password to be able to. The problem is when I try to enter my password, it does not work. I can enter my password up to 3 times, then I get a small image that looks like a circle with 3 lines coming out the top and bottom. Is there a way I could fix this?

Remove the main battery and the battery of the CCF. and then turn on the laptop with AC power. Who is supposed to clear the password.

    One of our HP Compaq 6910 has a power on password set, I'm guessing a student thought it would be fun to implement. I can't anything at all on the laptop without the password, is there a way to reset? These laptops are older and certainly not under warranty.

    It was created by a student, I found the battery cmos finally after disassemble the laptop, was able to short the pins and reset the bios password.
