using Windows 7 drivers in Windows 8
Many users have portable computers that originally shipped with (or supported by) Windows 7 and have run into problems where there is no Windows 8 drivers for their hardware. Fortunately, a lot of Windows 7 drivers work in Windows 8 If you install using Compatibility Mode. Try the following.
- Visit the HP Support and download the Windows 7 drivers for the hardware that you want to try.
- Download the driver to your desktop.
- Allow extraction until the complete but close the installation process, when it comes to the top.
- Navigate to the C:\swsetup\ folder. You will see your driver listed here. They usually have a name such as "sp58919". Navigate to this folder.
- In the folder of your driver, you will see a file "setup.exe". Right-click on this file and select Properties.
- Go to the tab "compatibility".
- Click on the box that says "Run this program in compatibility mode dethrone" and also select Windows 7 in the menu dropdown.
- Check the box that says "Run this program as an administrator", below.
- Save these changes, and then double-click the "setup.exe" to start the installation.
- Once installation is complete, restart your PC and check the functionality of the hardware.
It will not work in all cases, but many users have reported success when using Windows 7 drivers in Windows 8 in order to give it a try!
I hope you find this useful!

Copy and paste from a location on the desktop using Windows 7.
I had to restore my Dell for mounting your computer and lose my data. I use Dell DataSafe and with the help of their support, they restored my data in a folder on the desktop. I was able to copy the folder within the office, but I'm unable to copy and paste in original location in the c: drive. I use Windows 7.

I don't have a printer connected to this laptop, so I often send emails my PC computer in the basement that has a printer. I use Windows Live Mail on the basement PC and having my main email as a second e-mail address on this computer. Whenever I open my Thunderbird on this laptop after checking email on the basement PC, I find that every email in my Inbox disappeared. I would like to know how to avoid that this happens in the future. Thank you.
IMAP works best in your situation. Then you wouldn't have to worry about transfer of messages from one account to the other.
If you must wear the use of POPS, set your email clients, leave a copy on the server.

If I right click 'open with' open with other programs like IE but not "Windows Photo Gallery". It is not a specific .jpg file, this is all .jpg files. For example... I have a .jpg file in a folder on my desktop, open folder double click, it will open in the "Windows Photo Gallery". Copy and paste the SAME file on the desktop, double-click on, nothing happens. I tried to restart, change the default value of IE, open the file, it opens, by default change to "Windows Photo Gallery" doesn't work... I am confused?
Hello
Welcome to the community of Windows Vista answers.
Method 1:
This can happen in the database that keeps track of all the photos and videos in your collection is damaged. You can rebuild your database by:
(1) close Windows Live Photo Gallery
(2) · Click Start
(3) · Click on my computer
(4) · Paste this address into the address field %userprofile%\Local Settings\Application Data\Microsoft\Windows Live Photo Gallery
(5) · Right-click Pictures.pd5
(6) click on rename
(7) · Change the name of the file to OLD_Pictures.pd5
(8) · Restart the computer and then try to open the Windows Photo Gallery.
Method 2:
Try using the tool (SFC.exe) System File Checker to check and repair corrupt system files. To do this, follow these steps:How to run scan SFC
1. click on the Start button
2. on the Start Menu, click all programs followed by accessories
3. in the menu accessories, right-click on command line option
4. in the drop-down menu that appears, click the "Run as Administrator" option
5 If you have the enabled User Account Control (UAC) you will be asked to consent to the opening of the command line. You simply press the button continue if you are the administrator or insert password etc.
6. in the command prompt window, type: sfc/scannow then press enter
7. a message is displayed to indicate that "the analysis of the system will start.
8. be patient because the analysis may take some time
9. If all of the necessary files any replacement SFC will replace them. You may be asked to insert your Vista DVD for this process to continue
10. If all goes although you should, after the analysis, see the following message "Windows resource protection not found any breach of integrity.
11 after the scan finished, close the command prompt window reboot the computer and check.

When I go to access another computer via desktop remotely, it gives me the following error...
"The connection was refused because the user account for the remote access connection is not allowed."
OK...
So, I found that I needed to do things, like adding groups and what not.
So I went to the screen the system, click on settings remotely on the left side, then in the new window I greeted remote assistance and Remote Desktop (both secure and unsecure option) then I went to select users... Add locations. But all that shows is the computer im. Im stuck please help :D
"
To connect to a remote computer with Remote Desktop [DRC], you need a user name that is a member of the Remote Desktop Users group on the remote computer, IE. PC - A, for example, or a user name which is administrator on PC - A. The user ID is local to PC - A. The user ID must have a password. On PC - A simply type the name of the standard user in the window enter the names of the objects to select . Click check names to verify that this is a valid username on PC - A.
Now, when you open the connection of the DRC on the remote computer PC - B use the local LAN IP or the NetBIOS name of PC - A and previously set up PC - A user name and password to connect. If your call over the public internet from a remote location using the public IP of PC - A or PC - A is behind a router, the public IP address of the router. In the latter case, you will need to also to the front/open TCP Port 3389 through the router to the IP LAN of the PC - A static method.
FWIW here are my DRC using small pages which you may, or may not, be interested.

I am trying to install 2 new computers running Windows 7 on one network of 12 others who are running Windows XP, do all need to have the same operating system? I have a printer connected to the computer and cannot access it from my other computers.
You can have virtually any network operating system support on computers on a particular network. The only thing you can't do with Windows 7 computers in a mixed-OS situation is using the new "Homegroup" feature, because it's for Windows 7 only.

I have a brand new PC running Windows 7. After that all three times I use the Internet, I get a big white box on my desk that simply will not disappear (the white box is visible once IE is closed). After the computer restarts, it disappears but it always comes back. One small thing that works is by clicking at the bottom right of the screen. There's a small rectangle down there, and when I click it, the white box disappears. If I click on the rectangle, again, white box comes back. It is not prevent all functions, but its really annoying, especially on a brand new computer. Any info would be great!
Hi dmbfan,
From what I understand I think it's a page of Internet Explorer (IE) that does not close properly. I suggest you run Internet Explorer mode without modules and see if the problem repeats.
Follow the steps to do the same;
Step 1: Run Internet Explorer in "no Add-ons" mode
Add-on Internet Explorer, such as ActiveX controls and browser toolbars, are used by some Web sites to provide a better browsing experience. An error may occur if an add-on is damaged or if an add-on conflicts with Internet Explorer. To determine if the error is caused by an add-on, run Internet Explorer in "no Add-ons" mode To do this, follow these steps:
1) click Start and type Internet Explorer in the box to start the search.
2) click Internet Explorer (No Add-ons). Internet Explorer opens without Add-ons, toolbars, or plug-ins.
(3) test Internet Explorer to verify that it works correctly. If the problem does not persist in no add-on mode so you can follow the steps below to use the Manage Add-ons to determine which add-on is causing the problem
Step 2: Use the tool of management of Add-ons in Internet Explorer to individually disable each add-on to determine which add-on is causing errors. To do this, follow these steps:
Internet explore 8
1. open Internet Explorer 8.
2. click on tools and then click on Manage Add-ons.
3. in the drop-down view menu, select all add-ons to display all the modules that are installed on the computer.
4. for each element in this list, select the add-on, and then click Disable in the information window.
5. When you have disabled all the items in this list, click OK.
6. exit and then restart Internet Explorer.
7. If the problems do not recur, repeat steps 1 to 3.
8. click on activate for a simple add-on.
9. Repeat steps 6 through 8 until you determine which add-on causes errors occur. After you have used this process to determine which add-on causes errors, you can disable this add-on. Or, you can uninstall the software that installs the add-on. We also recommend that you contact the software vendor that provided the add-on for additional troubleshooting and support.
For more information on the above steps, you can access the link below.

Installed Windows 7 Pro on my desktop HP - 110 - a04. Windows 7 drivers help?
Hello
I couldn't take it any longer using Windows 8. I installed 7 Pro 64 on this machine, only to find HP doesn't provide drivers for 7 for this particular model.
The useful link below got my work to adapt (LAN) network.
Currently, I am missing the drivers below.
Network controller (possibly the wifi adapter)
SM Bus controller
(USB) Universal Serial Bus controllers
Any help on this problem is highly appreciated.
Thank you
Hello:
Please see if these drivers work:
SMBus:
https://Downloadcenter.Intel.com/download/20775/Intel-chipset-device-software-INF-Update-utility-
USB3:
I need to make a simple set of clicks in order for me identify the model of wireless card which needs the driver.
Since there is no driver installed wireless, need a labeled device network controller in Device Manager under the other devices category. The network controller device will be somewhat ! brand next to him.
Thus, to find the network controller device, click on that and then click on the Details tab.
Now, you see a drop-down list of property and it is set by default to the Description of the unit.
On this list and select the second element (Hardware ID).
After the first string of characters you see in the window.
