HP dv7 - 1237cl OS change

I ordered the 1 TB hybrid drive for my HP dv7 - 1237cl but I don't have the OS to Vista disk and since I'm unable to go online to HP for a upgrade for my dv7 control I was wondering if you could help me. I liked vista ok, but I like XP pro sp2 and windows 7 pro. could I installed one of them or I have to buy vista again as my operating system. I am open to any suggestions on what I can do. Thanks for your help

I'd say go to Windows 7 would be good idea & certainly capable...

    Hey Steve,

It's hard to say what the question would be since you disassembled the computer. I go ahead and remove the computer again and reconnect all connections. Its most likely a connector that does not get inserted completely.

  • I have a pavilion dv7 7000. I want to change my card to default chart to 630 m not intel nvidia gc.

I have a pavilion dv7 7000. I want to change my card to default chart to 630 m not intel nvidia graphics HD 4000.

    Hello

Go in the NVIDIA Control Panel, and then select manage 3D settings.  Now, click the global settings tab, and then select it Auto drop down. Now select processor High Performance NVIDIA.

The drawback with the above is that you will consume more energy and your system can run on battery as long. An Alternative is to select the program tab and then just add the program you want to run on the processor performance, NVIDIA.

  • Pavilion dv7-3112: arrows does not work cannot change boot order

    Hi all

Ive just bought a 2nd pavilion laptop in hand I can't reformat. My problem is the arrow keys of the keyboard, to the top to the bottom and right don't work only the arrow to the left. Someone else changed the boot order so I can't return it back to boot from the cd rom without arrows. As I am here in Australia I don't have access to the new keyboards. Can give you any advice. thnx in advance.

    Hello

One option would be to temporarily connect a keyboard external usb.

In addition, if you are trying to boot from an installation disc, I could do this via the Boot Manager menu, rather than set the boot priority in the bios menu because it is often ignored - you can do the following.

Insert the installation disc and the laptop shutdown .

Click next to the ESC key as soon as you press the power button to enter the Boot Menu, and then select the Boot Options Menu ( f9 ).

Use the arrow keys to select the option of CDROM and press ENTER - if you are prompted to "Press any key to continue...". "- make.

  • DV7-3085dx: change the main HDD for Pavilion

    Hello!

I'm trying to change my HARD drive of the main slot to the second, is it possible to make the second main drive instead of the default value?

When I turn on my computer right now it says the message "no booteable devices."

    Thank you!

Of course you can just put the SSD in the main Bay and put a regular hard drive in secondary education, if you have the caddies and cables connection. Just as this guy says:

  • Can I change the graphics card on HP Pavilion dv7-6c05ev?

    Hi I have a

    HP Pavilion dv7-6c05ev

my laptop is in excellent condition

    Windows 7 64 x

everything about this laprop is great, except the graphics card (radeon 7690 m) there is no real drivers for it.

I was wondering if I can improve my ATI with an NVIDIA graphics card, so I can get good drivers!

    what I can?

    Hello

Basically, you can, with a cost, and I think that this cost can be more expensive than buying a new computer because you have to take into account:

    1. New price of the card, and WHERE you can buy it because the laptop cards are not the same office maps. You can't buy any normal store,
    2. Need new card system (can be),
    3. Need new system of cooling because in general more powerful card pumps out more heat (you want more powerful card don't you?).
    4. May need new power supply because your current diet is not suitbale for the card. (I ordered a machine with the Nvidia card and I need to order a 90W charger at the same time, not the normal charger 65W. They rejected just my order.)
    5. Cost of the work.
    6. Packages a lot, a lot of aspirin.

    I hope this helps.

  • DV7 - 3165ev: HP Pavilion dv7 - 3165ev change/Upgrade CPU

I saw in the manual series DV7 cpu i7 support, but not for specific models like dv7 - 3165ev.

My goal is to replace the i5 m430 with an i7-720QM or 820QM i7, as they seem to be compatible with my model.

Is there a limitation of BIOS and the system board that these CPU may not work?

    Here is the Service Manual:

    Manual

This manual seems to relate only to the Quad Core models. Other similar models of dv7 motherboard is different for the dual core and quad core so models before trying to upgrade the processor, I would check the motherboard model number that is generally printed inside the memory compartment.

It must be 575477-001 if the Quad Core processors are at work.

  • HP Pavilion DV7 BIOS - need to change AHCI IDE, but don't have no option to do so. The F.1A BIOS version

I get a blue screen STOP after the replacement of SSD drives. I had taken a picture SpotMau the week before so, fortunately, (I think) I will not lose a lot of work. Now, after the restoration of the image on a new SSD, I get a blue screen with:

    STOP: 0X0000007B 0XFFFFF880009A97E8

I have looked for help on this STOP and tells me that I need to change the setting from AHCI to IDE, let the operating system pick up the new device driver and then update after reboot. I know where to do on Dell and Lenovo machines, but this HP doesn't seem to have this option.

Can I update a BIOS later (the latest is sp55068 - F.1B) or make another change to allow me to make this change?

If it helps, Win7 x 64 with 4 GB of RAM on a 128 GB SSD. The old, defective, SSD was also 128 GB.

I tried to put in a 'normal' 320 GB 'plateau' HARD drive but get the same error so assume (with care) that it is relative to the creation of the AHCI/IDE.

    Any ideas?

In case someone is interested, problem solved.

It had nothing to do with the BIOS or defective material. SpotMau (for some reason any) created a partition of 100 MB to the front of the drive during the process of the image. This is in addition to the "SYSTEM" partition that creates Windows 7. Using the partition tool that comes with SpotMau I deleted this partition, fixed the boot record (also with a SpotMau tool) and hey-presto, everything works again.

Thank you for taking the time to read these ramblings. I hope this helps someone else.

EDIT: Spelling and a final sentence.
