HP DV7-3085 possible upgrade

Hi, I have a VM188UA DV7-3085dx

It has the Nvidia GT 230 m video card

and the Intel i7 Q720 Quad Core 1.6 GHz

Are there maps system that can be upgraded either or a processor faster and video card? moslty video card is what I'm looking for. Does pretty much everything I need, but a graphics card with more memory would be a great help.

There are only two compatible mothers and the other has a worse than your card. Computer laptop is not a gaming machine or if it is quite expensive because the cards of good graphics for laptops cost more expensive than for desktop computers and that ones really...

    Hello

Much better now. The following link shows the specifications of your machine:

It's a HP Pavilion dv7-6010eo. Currently it has 500 GB SATA (7200 RPM), you can switch to the SSD. You can also put a second HDD of your machine, but you need to caddy and connector. Please visit the following link:

  • Possible upgrade for my card WIFI (AR9285) (AR9280) Dv7-3065dx

    DV7-3065dx

    Windows 7 Edition Home Premium x 64

Hello, I am looking to update my map of current wireless (AR9285) for the ATHEROS AR9280 network so I can use my signal of 5 GHz of routers. It seems that when you shop, the AR9280 and AR5BHB92-H model number are interchangeable and I'm a bit hesitant to buy one on eBay because I don't know if they are really the same card or not. Another approach, that I took was looking in the maintenance manual for the part number of HP for the AR9280 and lists 518437-001 and it pulls up to some more expensive options to eBay.

For me, to go with the item listed indicating the number 518437-001 HP substitution feel safest, but it's because I don't know much on the subject, but I don't want to be a sucker newbie who buys the article itself at a marked up price.

My questions: are AR9280, AR5BHB92-H, 518437-001 the same card? I'm going to face problems of 'white list' with all the options? Also are there better options that I can look?

    I really appreciate the help.

    Hello:

Change a wireless card in an HP laptop, it's nothing less than a nightmare.

Here is the link to the service manual for your laptop.

    http://h10032.www1.HP.com/CTG/manual/c02638165.PDF

Supported wireless adapters can be found in Chapter 3, beginning on page 3-6.

You can install one of the maps in the manual and it MUST have the part number HP on it or it won't work.

It's nice to buy a card supported on eBay, but you must query the HP part number, not the number of brand/model of the card.

First of all, I would like to input the part # s in the box on the link below and check the part number matches the description that you see in the list of the parts and the manual because several times the numbers in the manual is incorrect.

    http://h20141.www2.HP.com/hpparts/default.aspx?mscssid=2CC545FB8E2B4351A889652C6EADF3C1

According to the manual, there are only 2 cards of 5.0 GHz band supported (if the descriptions in the parts store game).

    1 Atheros 802.11a/b/g/n WLAN module 9280AGN

    2. 4322 Broadcom 802.11a/b/g/n WLAN module

The numbers are specific to each region so make sure that you select the right part number for the country you live.

  • Pavillian Dv7-3085dx: memory upgrade

I have Dv7-3085dx with intel 1.6 Ghz processor. The manual indicates memory max is 8 GB, but I noticed in several of the questions forum upgrades memory 16 GB is possible. Which also apply to my model?

    Thank you

    Of your maintenance manual:

Supports the 1066 MHz DDR3, up to 8 GB of RAM in the following configurations: ■ total system memory of 8192 MB (4096 MB x 2, dual-channel)

16 gigs is compatible only with the dv7 models later. 8 gigs is still plenty of RAM, and very few users really need more than 8 GB.

  • Pavilion dv7-1285dx option upgrade RAM / dual channel question

Hello.  I had a few questions on my laptop dv7-1285dx I bought last January.  I explore the idea of upgrading the RAM, and I went on the site crucial and pulled these specs.

It says that my system has 8 GB of memory dual channel max capacity, but from what I read here on these forums double channel really only works when you have 2 identical modules in each slot, right?  Well, my system came at HP with 1 x 4 GB and 1 x 2 GB installed modules standard package.  (I'm running Vista x 64).

So, if this is the case, this does mean that I'm not running in double track right now and my computer is a drop in performance right out of the factory?

Another question I have is my stick of memory from Samsung.  Would I be hurt me if I bought just a stick of 4 GB of crucial and kept the other stick of 4 GB of Samsung and used these two together?  Or is it better to use two Samsung or two Crucial sticks identical?  The sticks have to come from the same kit for best performance?   (IE - in the case of the Samsung, I would of course order a single module if I went this route and kept the original I have now).

If I increase the RAM, is there anything else I need to do in the BIOS to enable function dual channel (if I don't have it right now) other that physically install the sticks?

    Thank you very much.

Message edited by REB on 27/05/2009 06:46

Molvitz has clarified a bit. For memory dual channel sticks must first be the same size (2 x 2 GB or 2 x 4 GB for example) and they must be the same speed and latency times. If you shuffle the cards to Flash the same size you will probably but not certainly have dual channel operation. If you put two identical poles, you are also sure that it is possible to be that they will work in dual channel mode. I have not tried to set up a laptop with 2 x 4 gig of RAM sticks and I believe that there could be problems with channel double use, as mentioned, because this product (4 gig laptop RAM sticks) is so new. I can speak from experience wide enough that what I say above applies to 2 x 1 gig and 2 x 2 GB.

  • HP pavilion dv7 3110ea: RAM upgrade

Hello. Exactly can what kind of ram I install to my model? And 8 GB max per slot? I would add as much ram as possible. Is the maximum of 8 GB for my machine or it was maximum date of manufacture?

    From the Manual:

2 memory customer module accessible/upgradable slots Supports twin DDR3 memory, 1066-MHz supports up to 8 GB of RAM in the following configurations: ■ total system memory of 8192 MB (4096 MB x 2, dual-channel)

Max is 8 GB (2 x 4). Your care if you have 4 or 2 x 2, so you need to buy 2 new modules 4 GB each.

'How to' on pp. 4-17. 8 GB is always maximum. It is a function of the chipset. It is essential that you get memory low density 8 black blocks on the side of the module.

Compatible processors are listed on Page 26 of this manual:

No manual overclocking can be done in most consumer laptops.

ENVY of HP dv7-7240us Notebook PC drivers.

You will find there only drivers in charge.  Drivers for windows 8.1 are not included for this system and they are the ones that are used for windows 10.  Try the upgrade but I would stick to the original operating system until the and only if drivers are available for 8.1.

My goal is to replace the i5 m430 with an i7-720QM or 820QM i7, as they seem to be compatible with my model.

Is there a limitation of BIOS and the system board that these CPU may not work?

    Here is the Service Manual:

This manual seems to relate only to the Quad Core models. Other similar models of dv7 motherboard is different for the dual core and quad core so models before trying to upgrade the processor, I would check the motherboard model number that is generally printed inside the memory compartment.

It must be 575477-001 if the Quad Core processors are at work.

In addition, I want to assure you that my maximum memory Upgrade is 8 GB and 4 GB not.

Furthermore, if I remove my module of Ram 2 GB installed and plan on adding Let's say 2 x 3GB, I'll be able to buy the new memories to DDR3 instead of DDR2? I'll be able to choose how often I want instead of my 800 Mhz I have now? It will count if these 2 new modules are another company instead of Hynix? You have a lot of questions and obviously need some help here. Your laptop can use DDR2 memory. DDR3 memory would not click into the slots as it differs physically DDR2. There is no such thing as 3 bars of memory together. They come in 512 MB, 1 GB, 2 GB, 4 GB

The CPU can be extensible a tick or 2 but you have the model that uses Dual Pentium and Celeron processors (Intel GL40 chipset) and it will not work with processors Intel Core 2 Duo. Even the best processor that could be installed won't be worth it to purchase and install as it will always be pathetically low power compared to today's machines.

    It is the repair:

    Your manual

It does not say a maximum of 8 GB of RAM. However, I went looking for 4 gig of portable memory's DDR2-800 SO-DIMM, and they cost more than $100 per module.

I think it might be time to think about a new laptop. If you feel forced to keep your, install an SSD. You will think you have added half a GHz processor speed and doubled the RAM. It is that much faster. Let us know if you want to try it. You can get a 500 GB SSD for good less than 8 GB of DDR2-800 memory.

  • DV7-2270US CPU UPGRADE

Hello, I own this phone and im thinking of upgrading the processor. Manual HP, I found that the proccessor max that I can install is q9100. But from the Web page of chipset intel, I found that for my chipset portable maximum proccessor is QX9300 and q9200. Two of them are quite much stronger than q9000 and especially qx9300 very close to last generation i7 for laptops. I can't afford to buy a new laptop, that's why I want to improve. My current rig is Q9000, 8 GB ram, SSD 256 GB, and 1 TB HARD drive

Not only it is possible that the QX9300 will not work, it is likely that it will not work. While the chipset can support the processor, if the electronic media and the BIOS are not designed to manage the QX9300, it will not happen. Sorry, but there is no overclocking options in the BIOS and overclocking is not supported by HP laptops.

I'm trying to upgrade the provided RAM 8 GB 4 GB standard memory.

    So far, without success.

The system is that a Core processor i5 on an Intel PM55 chipset, (with stock RAM..) is woking very well.

    The RAM provided is working regularly at 1066 mhz CL7 4 GB 2x2gb PC3 - 10600 DDR3 - 1333 CL9 S Hynix (should be PC-8500, I understand..).

Due to the limitation of the system to 8 GB, I tried the following configuration:

Note. All banks of memory are from or have been tested also on other sys and are perfectly working.

He missed. I'm sorry. Here is the Manual:

    Manual

DDR3-1066 PC3-8500 is aka what it takes.

8 GB in configuration 2 x 4 GB is the maximum and it means no more than 4 GB so this explains all problems with 8 gig of add-on modules. You need to duplicate the modules that work as well as possible.

DDR3-1600 will simply not enough downclock so do not use it. As laptop computers HP tend to like low density memory and I don't hear in there 8 small blocks of black memory on one side, 4. Hynix memory that works is not low density with 8 blocks on one side?
